My father was born brought up until the age of 6 in Dhanushkodi. He has fond but short memories of his life there. Anthoniar kovil, post office and playgrounds. My father and grandma were saved on that fateful day as they had left for Madurai a day earlier for xmas vacations. However, my dad lost his elder brother on the train; the boy was 15 and returning home after his final xmas exams. After the cyclone, my grandpa who was a sailor, returned to their railway quarters with his surviving colleagues to find whatever was left in neck-deep water, lost almost everything except for a few certificates and had to rebuild their life from zero @ trichy. Thanks for the footage.
Out of Office 💓 I recall my grandpa saying that during the entirety of the cyclone his ship was docked at Mannar port and because of the waves the ship rose as high as a coconut tree and swayed like a coracle. He was saved only because he was in the ship with other sailors. They survived on biscuits for the next 3-5 days.

@kader wavoo's travelogue You are correct, it is Bay of Bengal which surrounds Dhanushkodi. It is only in Kanyakumari where the Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea meet. I wish the person who put this nice video takes the time to makes the correction. Facts are a casualty in the world of new age media.

I have DJI Spark which is no more in production... DJI's entry level drone will cost you $599 if you buy in US. In india it will cost more that as they will add shipping, customs and all other taxes to it and sell.
Thank You! To keep our video short we did not add these details. Next time we will accommodate stay and food Options. In Dhanushkodi there are no stay options or you will not find any restaurants. However there small huts selling local fish delicacies.

The most worsts tour operator I faced during visited Ramesharam from madurai. They commited us to visit Dhanuskodi. But after reaching Ramsharam - They told that the ramesharam temple is closed on that day. Lately we knew that temple was opened after some time around 1 pm. Also they were not going to Dhanuskodi and told the road is blocked. The the total fake statements one after another after reaching the city of RAM and honorable APJ Abul kalam. I dont know but its makes a total negative sense about the Tour operators of South India. Its a total horrible experience during visiting South india. All are telling lie and earn money for sake of God. Which is unexpected and also keep a negative sense about religious people and holy places in my child's mind.

Because everything is destroyed it is called as ghost town. There are no paranormal activities. Only few fishermen live there.
