This is relevant to my interests.
BTW the orange mat thingy is to protect the bottom from overflowing resin etc.

I had a hard time to justify purchase also, Eric
And all was bought with a bunch of hard earned loonies, not sponsored:)
I waited for deals, one step at a time. First a 2 stage pump. Then the chamber....the one with the glass lid was on sale. Followed by A/C manifold gauges.
I still can't justify it but am glad to have it nonetheless.

    looks very useful :)
be sure not to get acetone on the acrylic lid. i think the mat is to stop spilled schmooo from sticking to the bottom

the oil vapour is fairly normal, don't worry too much about it. there might be a filter you could add to collect it maybe

I am going to use one for creating a vacuum for a deuterium fusor.

The mist is vacuum pump oil. Supposedly it's not hazardous, being basically mineral oil. Still, I don't need to breathe that, or get it on things I'm working with. Grab yourself a vacuum pump oil mist filter to solve that problem. Also, bear in mind that whatever you are pulling out of the material under vacuum (and it's often not just air) will be vented out of the pump into your space. Another reason to consider better filter options.

The mist is not pump oil, it's water vapor, or if there is a solvent in the chamber it would be vapor from that. We all know that water boils at 100C but that is at atmospheric pressure. As pressure decreases the boiling point of water also decreases. Water will boil at room temperature when the pressure in the chamber is about 1/40th atmospheric pressure.

What might be some common DIY'er uses for something like this?

The silicon mat is used to put weed resin on, and the chamber is used to pull the butane out of the resin to make shatter. 710

I think the square mat is a rubber seal that can be used .

I have been looking into getting my own vacuum chamber for removing the air bubbles from my epoxy resin pours to save the time of waiting for the air bubbles to rise up to the surface naturally, so they can be popped and waisting money when I loose the resin project because it has air bubbles trapped in the pour. I can't justify selling a piece of work that has air bubbles trapped in the resin. I feel like I am not giving them a 1st class piece of work for their money. I have been slowly adding equipment to my shop a piece at a time as money permits. Now its time for a vacuum chamber for a professional resin pour everytime, " I Hope". If you would, Please update your video comments, about the reliability of the equipment since you first started using it. I'm interested in the lifespan & the reliability of the equipment, how it holds up over time & usage.
Love the review & your honest opinion about the equipment & the brand. I have a few Vevor brand pieces of equipment & for the money, i have NO complaints about the quality of the equipment. It seems to me that they are a decent quality brand with a wide array of different types of equipment & options at pretty decent prices aswell. These days almost everything is made in China and I have NO problems with buying a product from them, regardless of what others might think about the quality of their products. If they work for their intended usage & are in a price range I can afford, I will buy it, regardless of the country of manufacturing.

Have you experienced any issues after several months of use? Initially, mine could reach -30, but after about 15 uses, it only goes down to -25. I'm not sure if this is normal for this type of Chinese vacuum pump.

Have you ever changed the oil in the pump? If not, try that. Every time you use the pump the oil becomes more contaminated (especially from water vapor) and the viscosity decreases and eventually the pump will have a hard time trying to pull a vacuum. Only use vacuum pump oil.

This review sucks, which is a good thing. This is a cool thing, which probably wouldn't be used much. What happens if you put a ping pong ball in it? What about a plum? Oh, so many potentially messy things to try. Oh...a speaker playing loud music as the pressure is reduced. 😂
