Best 8 seater SUV? 2023 Hyundai Palisade review

  • If you need a big SUV, this is the one you should be looking at.
    That's because the 2023 Hyundai Palisade offers the choices you need - it has a 7 seat or 8 seater layout, the choice of petrol V6 or turbo-diesel, front- or all-wheel drive, and a couple of different trim levels to choose from, too.
    It's big inside, has a five-star safety rating (it was four stars prior to this update), and it feels plush and luxurious for the money. Speaking of budget, it's cheaper than a Nissan Pathfinder, and stands out for that reason.
    Watch this review to see if the Palisade is the right car for you. It probably will be if you live in Australia and need a big three-row SUV!

    One thing i constantly missing in ur video now a days is the mention of the lurch you get at initial run or when you push the gas ..you did mention briefly about it but it gives a feeling that it is not much a big deal but in reality it does ..i took qashqai test drive based on ur video review and it turned out to be horrible and somewhat unsafe at high traffic conditions ..perhaps something to emphasize more in coming videos ...keep up the good work ,thanks for the video.

      I'm guessing you haven't driven a Nissan CVT gearbox before or many turbocharged engines.
      Put your foot down in a Nissan CVT and things don't happen instantly. It's a completely different type of gearbox.
      Same with many turbocharged engines. They "lag" for a couple of seconds until the boost kicks in.
      Matt did say in his Qashqai review "Occasionally the transmission at low speeds and the turbo engine catch each other out. You learn how to drive this CVT / turbo combination.
      His advice is true.
      Hope this helps you with your test drives.

      @@tonymillar5342 absolutely true ..i guess the edge Matt's video have is to help regular guys understand the hidden integrities of the cars for daily family driver like me ...for example the video of "long term review of Sportage " on old channel ..that is kind of advice makes the difference as nobody else covers those points .. i also understand that this was not the long term review but the first impressions. But the casual nuisances of "turbo charge-CVT " is way riskier and complex for daily drivers on busy traffic than on highway. Something i would expect Matt to emphasize more, but that is just my opinion.

    As one commentator put it, if you are a "prolific breeder" then this is one of your few options if you want a SUV body style for a family of 6-8 persons. My only concern with it is the ground clearance and engine choices. The departure an approach angles on this look quite low and no i am not suggesting you take this thing for a rowdy mud plugging session but if it encounters a serious pothole, it looks like it will bottom out when under a full load. The engine choices on the petrol side could do with some electrification and I dont believe this platform is totally without it in other markets. Not a fan of a diesel rattle personally and that fuel economy for the v6 is abysmal but you cant knock it too hard because it is a V6.
    Two family features that werent mentioned however is the one where the driver has a PA system that can be used to cell the kids at the back to shut up or stop kicking each other. The second feature is the quiet mode that shuts off all the other speakers except the ones at the front if you want to keep the kids asleep at the back. Aside from all of this I dont see these much on school runs, instead I see them in executive parking lots and affluent shopping areas. This tells me these are being purchased as status symbols and fashion statements for people that wanted a Chelsea Tractor or Macan but the pocketbook just couldnt reach it.

    Hi Matt,
    Just come across your TH-cam channel; now subscribed.
    My brother in Melbourne is looking for a large 'soft' family SUV. He currently drives a 2010 Hyundai 2.0d ix35 with 260k km on the clock, been very reliable but now showing it's age.
    Current short list is:
    * 2023 Kluger 2.5i hybrid GXL
    * 2023 Palisade 2.2d Elite
    * 2023 Sorento Sport+ 2.2d
    Personally, I'm a fan of the new Sorento diesel, but not so sure about the DCT gearbox.
    The car will only drive on sealed roads and will not be used for towing. Annual mileage is 25k km, town + freeway driving. Any thoughts; your opinion please.

    • @therightcar
      @therightcar  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Richard, thanks for joining the community!
      It’s an interesting conundrum your brother is in. All three of those cars are very good, for all sorts of reasons.
      I would like to know if they need seven seats? And is the step up in size to accommodate seven seats a necessity, or just an “I think seven seats would be handy” move?
      Reason being is that if they’ve made do with an ix35 to this point, and five seats is an okay number to continue with, I think a Hyundai Tucson diesel or Kia Sportage diesel could actually be the right car for them.
      However, if seven seats, simplicity and potentially very good reliability is the primary driver, I think I’d be steering towards the Kluger.

    • @Richard-sl8we
      @Richard-sl8we ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therightcar Hi Matt, thanks for the quick reply. No, 7 seats are not needed. The car will be used as a 5 seater, my brother likes space and comfort.
      However, I agree; he should also look at the Sportage and Tucson diesel.
      However, the Kluger hybrid, especially the new 2023 spec soon to be launched, will probably be spot on for my brother and his lifestyle.
