In today's video, I travel to a couple junkyards in search of interior parts for the newest addition to the project fleet, a custom built first gen S-10 Crew Cab!

Over the next few months, I'll be introducing a lot more project content to the channel, in addition to my normal reviews! Also, the 240SX will be picking up soon (engine swap), along with a few other things I have in the works! For this series, I want to leave it sort of open ended since we're working with a blank slate. I want to hear from you all! Should we focus on performance, utility, cruising, or something else? I'll be focusing on a lot of DIY content to fix what's broken, upgrade things here and there and, of course, add some custom touches. These 4-door conversions are few and far between, let's do something different that really stands out from the crowd!

Dont forget to look for old Bravadas as well, they always have the high level interiors. They're somewhat rare, but I have seen a few first generation ones at the yards
Dude, I know! They're super nice, but rare as hens teeth. I've only seen one show up in the last year and it was pretty trashed.
Find a cheap one on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace! I've found some cheap ones for a grand or less in Indiana

As a former O'Reilly employee, I can say when I needed all of the brake parts for my daily, I had to go to AutoZone to get the one last piece. :-/

Yeah, swap the tire holder. Tailgate mounted spare tires are one of the reasons 90s SUVs looked so good IMO
For sure, idk what it is, but that tire carrier looks sooo good!
There's a inbody bracket for those. Only the 4wds got them, not even the awd Bravadas.
Dude this truck is gonna be AWESOME. And I think the tire carrier for the jimmy looks good! Little naked without it for sure

Typhoon clone (with four doors...it's been done!).
How to they go about the cladding though? I'll do some digging! That would be the biggest issue, getting custom cladding made to match the stock trim.
A member in PA made custom cladding for a 4-door Bravada (there's another out there called "Braphoon"). He might still have the molds. I can get you his info.

He actually did a series 4 or 5 years ago where he went to a salvage yard in North Carolina and filmed some cars. A daewoo, volvo, vw, some 3 wheel car, caddy, etc.
Cracked explorer panel....Could also do something like burnt out Trailblazer/Envoy tail light. I swear like 75% of the Trailblazer and Envoys I see have one tail light burnt out.

There's actually a specific reason for that, those suvs (especially the TrailBlazer) had bad circuit boards attached to the taillight assemblies. They fail pretty regularly (mine did)
Or burnt out 2000-2007 Chevy DRL. Lol
That explains it. I never knew but it makes sense that something was wrong, cuz I've noticed it for years.
I like to look for the dented corner rear bumpers 01-07 Caravans. Was that a factory option?

You should have done the captain chairs in the rear, utilizing one of the consoles you picked up, for the back.
Hey Kyle if you haven't thought of it already, I recommend adding some sound deadening material in the doors and other various places. Maybe even something to reduce vibration in the engine bay and around the suspension. The last thing you want is things rattling apart after you've put everything together. This is GM after all lol.
keep the gmc grille, remove the gmc badge and put on a chevy badge, and maybe paint it in a black color. don't like the chrome on the s10's
Hey man!! I've just find your channel. Great stuff! S10s are my favourite pick-up trucks, along with the Blazers and Jimmys. I'm from Argentina, and we lived in your country from 91 to 96 and our first vehicle there was a white 1987 Chevy S10 short bed. As a Chevy guy from early age, I loved that truck!!

I just picked up a 94 S10 with 154,000 miles for $1500 and I'm loving these videos.
@@connorbosworth7318 I picked up a 94 s10 also not long ago for $500 bc motor was blown but body was in great shape. I pulled the motor and trans out, bought a v8 motor and a turbo 350 trans and about to install it in the s10.. you can do so much with the s10s and I didn't realize until recently how easy it is to swap the motor for a v8
I say put the spare tire rack on the nicer Jimmy. Always loved SUVs with those.
Apparently, there's a metal support bracket welded in that would need to be fabricated or figured out sometime. I say it's worth it!
I have a junkyard in my small town and 1st Gen S10 parts are rare and hard to find
Thankfully they're a bit more plentiful here, but the parts are often so brittle and cheaply made that they don't survive the test of time. Finding GOOD parts is hard.
I have to grab a hold of my door panel to shut my door because the arm rest broke off my driver side door, and you are right they are brittle

I been watching your vids for a few years now, I gotta say I honestly love your vids. Before I make a new car purchase you usually have a vid of what I’m gonna buy. Very impressive. Your vids give a lot more insight before I buy those old cars. Nice to see you have project cars. The pick and pull thing is real new to me, I’m glad to see that you visit those boneyards. For my project car I have a 01 Pontiac gran Prix gt with a soon too swap. Seeking a 11sec car out of it. Very soon as of October 20 2018 I’m going to be hitting a few reputable places for parts

If I still had my mom's 93 Jimmy that she left me after she died, I would sell it to you for $100. The interior was immaculate because she cleaned it every weekend. It was a charcoal grey, fully loaded but not leather.

I'm building an '89 V8 S10 project truck on my channel and it's nearly impossible to find ANY salvage yards here in Ohio that have Gen 1 S10's. Actually I've yet to find a single one! Mine unfortunately has the Red interior... The truck is red/black right now, but that's going to change, so I have the task of finding NON Red interior!
The crew cab s10 with that interrior and an ls1 would be just perfect!

Lowering kit 3" front drop 4"rear drop with leveling kit, small block 350 bored about 60 over true duals , and get a set of steel rims with the dog dish hub caps with bowties ( they were on base work truck models 4cyl,2.8 v6)
This is the coolest build youve done. Id like to see air ride, 20s, turbocharged LS, Led lights. Two tone paint kinda like the old trucks were, but better. Power back glass that goes all the way down. Maybe a full sun roof. Tesla type stereo. The truck has all kind of potential.
Searching for parts can be very depressing. Is there someone who like to hunt on scrap yards? I'm from Germany and looking for a special radio trim from an mazda mx3 which was only sold in US. No scrap yard will ship it :( and Picking it up myself is a liiiittle bit hard. Someone can help?
Pull a junkyard motor, like a vortec v8 out of a suburban or Tahoe. They do fit very nicely, my buddy has a s15 that had that swap.

I know I'm out-numbered here, but with that leather interior, just build a BASIC truck interior and exterior wise. Maybe a better motor (like a 350 crate or an LS-swap.)
I'm hoping to get a truck so I can get my dad's 1992 GMC Sierra 1500 back on the road. It needs a new engine, a new chassis, and new brake lines.

Why did you take the rear seat from the Blazer? There's no wheel wells in the back of the S10 cab so I would think a front seat would be better. It would be really cool to put a set of bucket seats and a console in the back of the S10.
I know this is old, but if you ever run across a red rear wall carpet for an square body s10 I'd appreciate it! Hahaha

What the hell? A self serve JY that has golf carts? Our junkyards are so packed you can't even use a wagon in them.
Instead of carpet you should just lay down a coat of bedliner spray. Easy to clean and don't have to worry about stains, spills, or muddy shoes.
Kyle you should start putting sponsored ads on your videos
Put bucket seats in the back too instead of a bench seat. Then you'll have access to very back from inside vehicle without having to climb over back seat.
How much did you spend on parts?
I wish I could just go to the junkyard to find parts for my Mazda Rx-7 FC.

At least the Pull a Part in NC has golf carts. The one in Indianapolis has wheel barrows and your lucky to even get one of those lol. I feel like I need to hunt down a first gen S-10 now to replace my '94. Can't wait to see how the Jimmy and crewcab S-10 come out!
Chrome tie downs put in the bed or on the bed rail. The old location was just wrong. Extra speakers are a great idea. Are those dry rot or blown. I don't remember you checking them out? Or are you doing new sound system. Oh. Just thought of something else. Regardless of engine. Make it quite. Make this thing sound new.

try your local craigslist ad's & or local scrap yards even if u have to go outside your area...... i built a bunch od old s-10's this way yard by yard & ad by ad & etc.,....
the next build will only be after i get some land of my own & gut a few n buy a few out rite & all that...... love them great lil peppy 4.3's....... esp,. the hi-output one's...... lot's of great power.......... what city & state or there abouts r u all in there.......????

love u-pull places the one i grew up around had all you can carry days every once in a while $25 bucks and you get all you can carry. it was fun until my brother and I got banned wed pay our $25 each to get in, take the first hood we got to damaged or not didn't matter because wed flip it upside down and loaded all we could on to it we paid our money to get in were taking what we could carry
things to bring to the junk yard tools, gloves, mask, steel toe boots
why pay for a gym membership when you can carry a battery around the junkyard in 90 degrees
I wish you put prices of what you spent, or at least ballparks. I'm going to rebuild a bronco but idk what it'll do to my budget so I've been watching alot of "cheap" rebuilds to kind of figure it in. I should just do it
That quad cab s10 is awesome you could do so many cool things with it but you said you had to part out a jimmy I was just thinking who the hell needs jimmy parts I guess where you live might be different nobody looking for jimmys where I am

What is funny is I have an Aztek AND a dustbuster Silhouette. Also have a love for first gen S10s but sold my Blazer a year and a half ago to get the Aztek.

Good choices in the junk yards. I used to own a 91 blazer 4dr. the only thing I did'nt like about it was the hardness of the seats after several years of use, other wise I loved that Blazer. larry in washington state
Grab an extra DeWalt drill battery and use that for powering seats or other electronics. Bring some alligator clips attached to 14gauge wires with spade connectors so you can hook anything up to see if it works

Imagine how much money you would find if you took apart the interiors of all the cars there, I couldn't believe how much change was on the floor underneath that center console when you removed it.
I always get the rim trim rings and hub caps off of any of the s10 rally wheels, if they're in good shape,for my s10.
Almost kinda seems like you just need a torx driver and a ratchet wrench

Upholstery dyrs have come a long ways and can take care of it. However as long as the material is good thrn you have a perfect set up to use as a pattern

You're lucky. You wouldn't find anything that old up here in Canada. They all rotted out years ago.
That Aztec was actually one of the coolest cars. (Please don’t hate me) the cup holders were actually integrated into a mini cooler
