I agree..I remember exactly the first time I heard it, I wrote part of it down and found those words years later, the part where it says, " Now days are long, just patches of time, thrown together like clouds of empty hours, blinded by pictures, of places, we knew, and now in space, I stay, without your soul and voice to share. I was mesmerised by my first love, the very night I put this song on from a tape at 19 years old and found him again 25 years later, so a haunting, melody of words in my life.
I would just like to dedicate this to my ex wife Tricia. She was a major influence on my life and in many ways saved me before I simply determined that I should destroy us. I will love her always! She had no choice but to divorce me and I completely understand that. I have some major issues. If love is real, you have to trust and let love go it's way. Thanks so much for his Randy. Well done my friend!
I heard this in 1987 on a local Toronto radio station 98.1 CHFI Beautiful. Reminds me of Pat Lehmann ... whereever you are. Now all I need to hear is "All Along The Rhine" by Randy Edelman
Thanks a million for sharing with the world one of the finest contemporary compositions. I had the LP, but it was so worn out by playing that it became useless. I had taped all the tracks on cassette before I got rid of the LP. I am now trying to transfer them to MP3 after much filtering and removing the scratches and noise. The album contains a more of beautiful compositions. I hope it will soon be re-issued and be available on CD for the fans and others.
Oh man, ever since that radio station closed down 20 years ago I wondered how I could ever find this song again. This was my favorite, and all I could find for a long time, was the Olivia Newton John version, which is good but this is the best.
One thing I don't understand, is how can anyone not like this song? I mean, Granted, I mainly listen to rock but even I like this song. It really is beautiful. Either: (A) they hit the wrong button by accident; or (B) they have no taste. Sorry Chris. I'm just surprised that anyone hit "Dislike" on your post. This is something I was going to say anyway. Been thinking about it since I first heard it 2 days ago but forgot. Have a good one Chris :) -Dean-
This is a beautiful song. This guy has talant. Reminds me of Barry Manilow (I guess it's his style). Anyway, I really like this song a lot. So, Thanks Chris for posting this :)
What's with all this everyone wanting the Olivia Newton John version ? This version is definitely better. It used to play on a local radio station (CHFI 98.1 in Toronto) around 1987. My girlfriend at the time loved it and yet, I could really feel the loneliness in her heart when she listened to it. I wonder Patricia, if you ever found the love you were looking for after all these years.
@@karenlnsy Actually I found her on Facebook about a month ago but I didn’t want to message her as I’m not the love love she’s still looking for after all these years.
The person who originally asked for this song must have closed their acct., so I never did rip it to mp3. Give me a couple of days, and I will post it for you :)
@classie60 This is a track off the album 'On Time' which is very hard to find. I see the channel 'Trueromance100' has posted another song from that album. Maybe you can ask this user to post it?
@@finbarstadt7213 I'm well aware of that, as I got the above audio from my own copy of the album. FYI... Forgive me. I responded before doing much thinking. You are correct - the song was not in the movie If Ever I See You Again. I will search to see if I can figure out which, if any, movie the song was in.
This guy is just superb. Just a shame he and his beautiful music was completely overshadowed and swallowed up by the Elton John 'machine'.................!

I first heard Olivia Newton John sing this from a tape, I had in 1984..but wow, sounds incredible here..what a voice this guy has. Stunning.
I love this and was turned on to it by someone who loved me. Unfortunately he is now deceased.
One of the prettiest songs in music history...............

"Wild Man" Dean guess who wrote "A weekend in New England"?
Randy Edleman wrote "Weekend In New England" that Barry Manilow recorded.
It definitely has the feel of a Manilow song.
Great song great memories.
love this song and its melodies
omg it touched me deeply
I do so love this song but it brings a lot of very painful memories for me.
