I love the smile that comes across Alison’s face as the ghosts join in, and also the smile on Fanny’s face as she sees the decorated tree. Above all that, the harmonies make this a beautiful rendition.
Perhaps the most magical moment in a show choc full of magical moments. That harmony as Thomas joins in and then the flicker of pure joy on Alison's face as the rest join in as well.
I loved how the show wrapped up in season 5 and I definitely got emotional seeing the show come to a close on Christmas but there's something different about this episode. Maybe its because the focus isn't about the sadness from something ending but the unspoken feeling of togetherness shared even in times of solitude. I think that this episode has a special place in so many fans hearts because of this scene.
It's one of the earliest indications that the ghosts have become her family. Mike's family certainly like her, and appreciate her, but they don't enter into her love for carols, while the ghosts did. She wanted to gather the family around the piano to sing a carol, and it wasn't the living people who joined her to make that happen.
this is beautiful. this is very moving. I have been having a brutal time of it recently and, unusually for me, I haven't been crying. this opened the floodgates, and I just held myself and let it happen. I know this is a bit of an emotional dump, but thank you, sincerely.
This scene in the show seems to have hit a universal nerve with viewers.... the relationship the characters have created with both Alison, and the viewers themselves just seems to come together here - and people all over the world have been profoundly touched... It is such a brief scene - (thus my effort to enhance and prolong it just that slight bit longer), but it has had a profound impact on so many. Kudos to the creators and director, who's choices were perfect.
I only recently started watching Ghosts UK, as I only knew the US version ( and have been a fan of same since day one). I finally got to see the first two seasons available to me here, and this episode hit me hard. The voices of all these disparate folk, all from different times (and may as well say places, as the world that Robin knew might as well be Middle Earth for all that it resembles the here and now), and yet, the song is old enough that they all learned it by heart and they heard it sung so many times, they could harmonize. And the harmony from all these people makes you think that for just a few minutes, the world could be in sync for once. And her living family can't hear it, but they can feel her love and see a little glimpse of why she loves the song. A window of understanding even if through a glass darkly. Damn that hits hard this year.
Happy that this could stir up a few emotions for people... I tried to imbue the video with a sense of history surrounding the house and and it seems it struck a nerve.... a universal understanding that this show has so brilliantly tapped into.
Thank YOU.... I thought this scene deserved a special presentation so that people could enjoy it outside of the episode itself. It seems to have profoundly affected so many from all over the world. Only the UK can pull off this blend of fun and artistry...
I just finished watching this season of Ghosts, and this part made me cry happy tears. While Mike has his family to pester him, Alison has her ghosts. Awww
I confess - I may have given it just that little bit just a touch more "air" (with fading reverb ) in my re-remastering.... I felt it deserved that millisecond of reality setting in for the audience - that she has this secret world who support her..... and we are all "in on it" too. It's the loveliest moment on tv.
December 29, 2024 - 11:30 P.M.: Today was the *1* year anniversary of when this was uploaded! Due to last year's strikes, I was able to see the first two series of the original "Ghosts" on CBS. That scene made me tear up! 🤓➡️😢
Well spotted ! I first saw this episode shortly after Christmas 2023, and after searching, as you have, for a nice way to watch it again, I was disappointed not to find the perfect version on TH-cam. Feeling that it would benefit from being a bit longer, with a proper beginning and end - I came up with this. So, exactly 1 year later, 75,472 people have enjoyed it...... Happy Holidays.
Its kinda funny, I looked for this song a few years ago, and couldn't find it on here, so I recorded it and posted it up. Came back about 6 months ago, and noticed that over 42,000 people have viewed it. It's my favorite moment from this show.
I loved it too - but wished so much there was just that little more of it...... so I made my version, where it repeats the chorus before that beautiful ending that we all love...... Glad both our offerings are reaching people and allowing them to enjoy it all once again at their leisure.
I cannot get over how perfectly Charlotte and Mathew harmonised at the start
They harmonised perfectly.
she truly does have it all
I love the smile that comes across Alison’s face as the ghosts join in, and also the smile on Fanny’s face as she sees the decorated tree. Above all that, the harmonies make this a beautiful rendition.
makes me cry every. time.
Beautiful. Best show on television of the last 10-15 years.
Perhaps the most magical moment in a show choc full of magical moments. That harmony as Thomas joins in and then the flicker of pure joy on Alison's face as the rest join in as well.
This version of the show is so much better than the American version.
Hits harder after the latest Christmas special ☹️
Real :(
Los americanos compran arte y lo convierten en una verdadera...copia de mierda, y no quieren que los de otros países hagan lo mismo con Big Bang!!
@@Please-read-my-biopor qué no hacéis los ingleses una petición al congreso?
It really does. It perfectly encapsulates that poignant and bittersweet, yet beautiful feeling.
I just rewatched that today. ❤ This was a great show.
American Ghosts has never had a single moment that made me tear up. BBC Ghosts, frequently. Much more bittersweet.
So true! The final episode of BBC Ghosts made me cry like a baby.

The tears come, every time... 😢
That smile when Alison realises that the ghosts are joining in…

I so miss you all - I had a tear in my eye listening to this clip..
How utterly beautiful, I can't believe we will see no more of them.
This has got to be my all-time favorite "Ghosts" Christmas moment. Fanny is actually smiling 🥰🎄
Sad the series has ended. Loved every episode and will rewatch as long as it's available. :(
Our first Christmas with no new ghosts this year 😢

It shows Alison's sensitivity to the ghosts that she chose a carol that evokes a sense of "long, long ago" that they understand more than she can.
Favourite version ever of my favourite Carol. Thank you very much, it’s beautiful. I’ve saved it.
Tears. Every time. ❤
This is beautiful I can't even express how much I love this
I just lost my father this year and this song made me happy and sad all at the same time.
One of the most wonderful postings I've seen...beautiful. Thank you!

the gap before the last line is killing me

I've only seen one episode, and wished I could get the show, but unfortunately, it's unavailable to me. This was a lovely presentation.

@@mpk6361 The entire ending of that episode is just I dunno, beautiful.
