    The price difference comes with the hybridviewfinder(very expensive to build) a combination of ovf and evf, the inbuild 4 stop nd filter, the weather resistance and the Leafshutter also u get get a new 23mm markII lens on the V so its worth every penny against the Xe-4 . This two cameras are very different tools. Nice Greetings !

    I would add that there is more of a learning curve with the X100V. I own it and have owned the original + T & F. I’ve owned X-E1, 2, & 3. You can geek out with the X100 line and it can be complex. Also, if you don’t plan to use the OVF on the X100 you’re paying ‘extra’ for that. You do get flash with the X100 .. pre-3 flash was on the X-E bodies. If new to Fuji or photography I would recommend the X-E. I love my X100 .. but it took some time to ‘learn’ it.

    Love your very last point. In Fuji's line up, you dont have to worry about image quality. Its spectacular in any of the past 2 gens of fuji cameras. You only have to think about ergonomics for your style of shooting or needs. I own an xt3 for video and interchangeable lenses needs. And an x100v for my love of photography and compactness everywhere i go while being weathersealed.

    This video tipped my scale if only so slightly for the xe-4. I can see myself months from now wanting the versatility of changing lenses. More affordability helps too.

      @ricardof.casellas665 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Well, folks, I changed my mind at the last minute and went for the x100-v. Reality set in knowing I don’t want to go back to the hassle of bulky kits and changing lenses. The x100v inspires true photography. Can’t go wrong with either one.

    • @chesslover8829
      @chesslover8829 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ricardof.casellas665 In my humble opinion, the X100V is a perfect camera system for street and travel photography. The only issue I have with the X100V is my being restricted to just one focal length. The X-E4 solves that issue, but it lacks some of the really nice features of the X100V. So, maybe I should buy both and carry two camera bodies? 🤔

    • @davevayn
      @davevayn ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I agree there, I’m also thinking of returning and changing but the flash and quiet shutter are deal breakers for me since I changed from fashion/people shots to street and nature but still some fashion just not all the time as I used to. I wanted better video quality and exchangeable lenses but then I thought well for vintage type video I don’t think it matters and I can kinda live with not being able to zoom or maybe I try those conversion lenses but the x100v is just a really good package for photography which will be my main focus.

    Great video! I love the look of the x-e4! I’ve always wanted a camera without a grip. Most of my film cameras don’t have a grip ans I love using them. Me too! I had the original X100 and aside from the slow focus, I got really tired of only being able to use it half the time due to rain. BTW: I'm from Victoria and I always call it the Pacific Southwest since it's southern Canada. :-)

  • @Jerry-dv1gy
    @Jerry-dv1gy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The lack of weather-sealing is what really crosses out the XE4 for me. Right now, the only way to get weather-sealing is to go with the fixed lens X100V or to step up to more money for an XT4 or XPro3. A consumer level rangefinder-styled compact camera with weather-sealing would be the perfect travel companion.

    • @connorazzarello5514
      @connorazzarello5514 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wdym works with RAW? Does it crop the RAW like the jpeg or just allows you to shoot RAW with the digital teleconverter at all?

    • @leofiskars
      @leofiskars 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@connorazzarello5514 Not really an expert on the subject here, but in some earlier firmware digi-teleconverter was only available for jpgs - that changed in a firmware update little over a year ago (now also raw+jpg). The thing is that it is _not_ cropping the image but there’s some digital manipulation and optimization going on as well. Some kinda revolutionary feature. In fact there was a TH-cam video where someone compared and a physical teleconverter to the digital one: the digital was sharper.

    • @davevayn
      @davevayn ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t you loose detail when doing that? I tried it and it looked the same like cropping into an image in post compared to having a zoom lens so I’m avoiding it from now on, a lot of the time I’m able to get close. I did in a stunning location of cliffs and in the end it wasn’t worth to zoom cause the image captured the entire field and it looked nicer without but maybe I try it again when needed or get a conversion lens, hopefully they have zoom.

  • @richnewman

    I would say the "big brother" of the X-E4 is the X-T4, not a fixed lens camera like the X100V. That said, the X-E4 can function just like the X100V; slap on a prime like the 27mm pancake, and just leave it on there permanently. But the X100V cannot be like the X-E4--you cannot change lenses to suit your needs, which severely limits you with shooting video and can even hamper you a bit with still photography. If you simply want to buy a camera and be done with it, the X100V is pretty much the best deal out there. If you want to go beyond that and try different lenses, shoot short films/video, etc. I'd recommend the X-E4.

    Looks great but now I'm confused. Why buy this over the X-T30 for instance ? The price is around the same. in fact the X-T30 is cheaper where I am ... approx $650 - $750 body only depending on deals, or around $950 - $1000 with the XF 18-55mm. I've been waiting to pull the trigger on an X-T30 and now I'm not sure. Sorry if this question is a bit dumb, this will be my first Fuji cam.

    • @moment
      @moment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, it comes down to your preference. What stands out to you? Does budget matter? Does style matter and button layout? Again, image quality isn't an issue with Fuji APS-C sensors - they are all really good and preform the same, relatively speaking.

    • @cryptotrader2779
      @cryptotrader2779 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@moment Thanks for the answer. To be honest the cost is about the same for both cams, so it isn't a question. I guess I need to do some research on the usability differences between the two. I do love the Fuji old-school button layout with ISO, shutter, aperture and exposure comp. Aside from that I just want something small and light that I can throw in a shoulder bag for street, travel, family/kids stuff. I got so tired of carrying round a huge heavy backpack full of Canon gear, so a small Fuji with a 27mm pancake. the 18-55mm for travel, and maybe one longer lens addd later and I'm happy. Up until now Ive been really confused which Fuji to go for, what with the X-T3 coming down in price and the X-T20 still being a great budget option, the X-S10, and now this ! Anyway, you don't have to answer. Guess it's up to me to do some digging and make a decision. The problem now all stores are closed, is not being able to go to a camera shop and physically feel how they are to hold in the hand. I've got quite big hands and I heard a few people say they don't get on well with the size of the X-T30.

    • @fredbloggs545
      @fredbloggs545 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The X-E4 will do nothing to improve your product photography over the D3200. Don't waste you money. You would be far better using the money on a better lens or better lighting.
      This is coming from somebody who has the X-E4. It is an excellent camera but I have no idea why you think you need it over your D3200 for product photography.
      Oh and the X100V is *definitely* not for you.

    I miss Chicago! Used to stay at the Hard Rock you showed. Never saw the bean with so few people there!
    I seem to want this camera. I feel more comfortable walking around with that style vs an XT model.
    The grip will not be included. The front grip and thumb grip will cost us an extra $200!

  • @orangorill
    @orangorill 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just want a tiny ILC with weather sealing, but the only option is the Olympus E-M5.3, which is made out of plastic and has micro-USB. Had hoped the X-E4 could be it, but now I'm unsure of whether to go for it anyway, or wait and hope for a WR GX10.

    • @fredbloggs545

      Depends what you mean by "tiny". The X-Pro 2 and 3 is WR.

  • @homesavvytech

    I've seen mixed reviews of how long you can record videos on this before it overheats. Any idea about that?
    I know that the S10 is overall a better package for hybrid use, but I like the E4s styling and design and it does pack almost the same punch (specs, sans IBIS) and hence bit the bullet. Waiting for it to be delivered.

      The 18-55 kit lens from Fuji is a great lens - even for a starting kit lens! It's not a fast lens but it's really good quality. The 23mm f/2 is affordable lens and the 50mm f/2
