Fantastic memories, Heart cruisers was the first boatyard I went to in 1977 , we had the Ace of Hearts , my Father started his broads adventures after his 2 years national service in 1953 , he had various Cruisers throughout that time. I started my own adventures on one of the fibreglass bathtub design boats called Tropical Heart in 1985
I was very sad to see the Boatyard close down, but always looked out for the Old boats Y415 I could never remember whether it was the King or the Ace of Hearts always used to pop up somewhere on the broads.

Like Vaughan, i also had a wonderful childhood on that island, several decades later though.
I used to stumble across foundations in the brambles and wonder what used to be there. What a place to explore as a young'un!
It was a sad day when Morning Flight got towed down to Jenners basin.
Wish i could have seen it all in it's heyday.

I had a Saturday job at hearts cruisers in 1974 cleaning the hulls of the hire boats, happy memories

Born in Norfolk, and clearly remember the old motor gun boat moored in Norwich in the 70s, ah, those were the days:)

Wonderful memories. Passed Thorpe many times and wondered what it would have been like to live there. Thank you.

Very interesting footage greatly enhanced by the narrator's knowledge. Everyone paid so much attention to detail to make the boats faultless, true craftsmanship. It must have been wonderful living on Thorpe Island, where did the freighters go to, what did they carry, where did they turn in the river?
