    Very kind of your friends to not object to being on camera. Many thanks to you for all the filming and editing. I'm looking forward to the next one, as I used to visit lots of caves in the UK and Europe.

    Touring that region and northward, where there's a concentration of Canadian national parks, by motorcycle some 40 years ago, I came home overwhelmed in the same way I was after seeing southern Utah for the first time. It's wonderful seeing these aerial views compared to the days of paper maps and a few magazine photos... Triple Divide Peak, about 7 miles south of Saint Mary Lake, takes rainfall and sends it towards the Pacific Ocean, the Hudson Bay, and the Gulf of Mexico, thought you'd like to know that... Thank you for your effort, Todd

    The new plane, make sure to provide large enough wire to the wing leading edge landing lights for high power LED's 100 Watts max each.

    Great job capturing the great creation that is Glacier Park and surrounding area. I got my pilots license in Kalispell and flew in the park several times as well as Meadow creek and Ryan field. You’re right that the video doesn’t do it justice but the cinematography is top notch, thanks for a trip down memory lane.

    God forbid but what’s your plan if you have trouble in the mountains and have to set it down ? Extraction costs of having a chopper come in to remove the plane, survival gear, first aid , location beacon if you happen to fly alone which you aren’t doing and is very smart. I absolutely love the mountains there’s like a force that pulls me to them. I’d love to fly to all those spots but the risks scare the health out of me if you know what I mean.

    • @GravityKnightFlying
      @GravityKnightFlying  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are not kidding about risks, and costs associated with something going wrong.
      I do the best maintence/inspections etc. I can. Ask for a little help from above, and send it! Ok... it's not quite like that. But at some point, there is just a risk, and if you fly in the mountains you are accepting that risk. I will say, as time goes on, I do less crazy off-airport and all that. You do start to wonder when your luck will run out. I have had engine outs, one in the mountains of Idaho.. a good story for another time. There are some ways to lower the risk (flying higher, with friends, the particular engine/airplane, how slow it stalls, etc. etc.) but you are right, in the end... there is a risk and it can't be avoided. Limiting your time in the moutains, and flying low, and probably the best ways to experiance some of this... but not push it.
      Anyway.. enough rambling. For me... I carry the garmin inreach to try and get help if it goes bad. I have spent a lot of time thinking about different types of terrain and where to land when it quits.. river, vs. trees, vs. steep hillsides etc. The plane lands pretty slow.. if I keep it together mentall, pick the best terrain to crash on, and have the inreach...warm cloths and enough supplies to survive out there for a while... I think positively beyond that....

    You not worried about not enough oxygen up that high

    • @GravityKnightFlying
      @GravityKnightFlying  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not too bad up in that area. I land higher and hike back home than that. But down here in CO, we do have some pretty high stuff. I have a portable oxygen system I can take to stay legal. Living up high for the past 26 years does really help though, my oxygen levels stay above 95% even up real high with supplemental.

    Hihi Todd, are those streamlined tail feathers rods? If so, can I get some info on where your got them and price. I would really like to get some. Thanks!

    • @GravityKnightFlying
      @GravityKnightFlying  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I streamlined them with some aluminum, I used:
      K & S Precision Metals 1102 3/8 ALUM STREAMLINE 36" tubes that fit over the rods. They fit very tight... it's a tough job to install them! Thought it made a difference, but it was very minor. 1+ mph.

    I bet that even with all of those splendid views of hostile territory that you keep an eye out for that forced landing should it ever occur. There cannot be very many dirt roads out there to make that decision as to where to set her down.

    • @GravityKnightFlying
      @GravityKnightFlying  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very rugged place to have to set it down. Real glad the Edge Performance engine kept purring away out there!!!!
      Would have considered water skiing across a like and piling it into the shore to avoid the massive trees in a lot of that area. Some other options too.. but not many good ones!
