  • Hello lovelies🥰
    Ko-fi: you can buy me a coffee at ko-fi.com/knit...
    What im wearing:
    Bjørk genser by sandnes garn knit in two strands of erle mohair. One green and one white strand
    Finished objects:
    The half and half triangles wrap in jet black british wool 4 ply and giddaw nepp brownfrom woolyknit(gifted yarn)
    Wips:
    -A grey tinde sweater raglan for skiing
    - A top down raglan sweater using the color chart that is found in the Rauma Islander as well as a Sandnes garn islender, both those appear to be bottom up so i did my own thing using the same chart. Using snopegarn handdyed yarn on the hillesvåg ask base, 300 g of the MC and 200g of the CC speckled yarn. Here is the free norwegian pattern if your interested : www.raumagarn....
    Here is sandnes garns version: www.sandnes-ga...
    -- sock tube in brown wool barn superwasf bfl and grenouile owl color. Both held with silk mohair
    -square blanket using rauma finull. 30sts by 30 garter bump rows
    - fileds of gold sweater by isabella clark in nutiden vibeke and kfo silk mohair in dusty rose color knit on 4.5 mm. Size 3, sleeves slightly bigger and front motif slightly longer.
    - Talvinen by caitlin hunter using biches & būches yarn( gifted) on 3.25 mm needles giving 26 sts, thus went up one size, knitting size 5 to get size 4 which has 12-15 cm positive ease for me.
    Lingering WIPS:
    -pillow case in linen stitch using gazzal organic dk cotton
    -Sock tube in vandre and kidsilk
    -Blanket using zakami advents
    -Bags gifted from Unwind and knit with me, she also carries beautiful yarns like Jamiesons and smith, im adding the link to her project bags below, she ships worldwide

    Oh wow thank you for that information about the different kinds of German short rows. I’ve completely frogged entire yokes because I thought I was doing them wrong because they were slightly visible. Reknitting it never helped! But now I know it’s just the way the pattern resolves the short row that causes this. I’ll definitely need to look into this more. Great video!

    Inga: I have the Talvinen on the needles right now. I got half way down the yoke tried it on and the neck was so tight it was clasping my neck. I ripped it all out. I added a full two inches by adding more stitches. I’m using the biche et buche as well. Your comment was interesting I thought the same when I read the pattern.

    I also have a big basket of yarn by my bed! Mine is a big bag of jumbo skeins of v rustic British wool- some from wooly knit, some I got direct from the mill at a wool show, some from an English natural dyer. It's been by my bed for ever and sometimes things come in or out, but I feel like keeping my most natural stash by my bed is very grounding!

    Always happy to find a new episode on your channel. It’s so nice to have you keep me company over my morning knitting and coffee. Oh my gosh! I so want to do the Fields of Gold sweater! The color you are making is so pretty and will look lovely on you. I bought the pattern when it was released and have swatched with my Nutiden but am finding the pattern to be a bit intimidating. I know I can do it but I have a Marie Wallin all over color-work cardigan the go that requires a lot of attention to detail (which is not my strong suit) so once is finished, I will consider starting Bella’s beautiful pattern. Thank you for the German short row info. I will be looking into using that method next time a pattern calls for wrap and turns.

    I'm going to enjoy your test driving the exquisite Fields of Gold sweater for me. I bought it last year the day it was introduced. I was using unspun Manchelopis for it but couldn't wrap my brain around the cast on and it was my first time using unspun. I put it into time out and knit a Ranunculus and a shawl out of the yarn. I realized that holding mohair with the unspun is key. I'm waiting (im)patiently for a Nutiden update and plan on revisiting this lovely sweater. I too will be adding length to the body and sleeves. Sometimes I guess we have to challenge ourselves and climb sweater mountain but its worth it when we get to wear the garment. Thanks for always inspiring us.

And your nutiden sweater what a gorgeous motif and color. Sad they only sell colorways in such limited quantities. I want some!! And this last colorwork is also beautiful. I’ve used the same brand for their silk mohair and it’s completely gorgeous. The lambs wool looks super decadent. It’s going to be an amazing sweater when you’re done. I totally agree with you about the short rows. I would want those by the collar too. I’ll def have to remember that trick next time I see a pattern with them in a weird place. Great video as always! ❤❤

    I also keep making sweaters on very small needles, because that is what I love wearing. I actually find that my hands prefer small needles too (the hard part is that it really does take awhile to knit a whole sweater!). Your Islander-patterned sweater is gorgeous, and I'm curious to see if you change the neckline. Thank you for sharing that you consider yarn a home-decoration too! That is my excuse for having yarn in my living room, and bedroom, and sometimes sitting near the pantry door. I just started an Abundance Cowl by Yigitcan Vatansever, and have a raglan pullover with mock-cable details on my needles as well. 💖

  • @cbs70
    @cbs70 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the same problem. I have a tiny houseand I'm usually in the living room, as my house is 100 yrs old, which mea s it has NO insulation AT ALL! In winter, you can see your breath plus humid cold, in summer, it's usually 25 to 30° hotter+humid, rarely is it middle of the road. Most of my yarn is there, but to avoid going back & forth switching projects, I get a bag or basket w them, but then I can't decide on colors or have to let problem knits marinate to the side. I don't realize just how fast (minutes), my big bags or basket carrying multiple projects begin to overflow & overtake every inch of the living room. Because the house, specially the living room is so tiny, anything not properly (to the inch) in place makes it look messy, even when it's organized.

    Hello Inga,thank you another enjoyable and inspiring video! I just cannot say how much I enjoy your podcasts and knitting journey. I’m still trying to find a mohair cone sourced closer to the USA, yet to find one! I was watching a very early episode and just wondered do you still have your dog PIA? Knit well, hugs, ClaudiaSJI

    I'm not a sock-knitter but I think what you're doing is called an afterthought heel.

    • @knittingtraditions
      @knittingtraditions  ปีที่แล้ว

      afterthought or cut in heel yes. it doesnt have the safety line of scrap yarn in this method which a classic afterthought heel often do so its often reffered to as cut in heel but not sure if it also has other names then these two

    Hej Inga - vild med din podcast - dejligt du prioriterer det midt i en travl karriere 🎉 Hjælp mig lige med dine erfaringer ift. Half+Half wrap - har du to tråde Woolyknit på pindene eller blot en tråd? Og tusind tak for inspiration til Woolyknits cones - jeg er nu den lykkelige ejer af virkelig mange skønne cones 😅

    Inga that doesn’t make sense doing the German short rows in different places because don’t the German short rows shape the garment so it will be making a different shape in a different spot and change the pattern, right

    • @knittingtraditions
      @knittingtraditions  ปีที่แล้ว

      German short rows creates extra fabriv i a rounded shape wheteher that after the neckline under a yoke or at the bottom of a sweater, it can be made knitting past the Gsr each time resolving them row by row or done with turning before the gsr stitch each time knitting it shorter. the two differetn ways and placement in the project will affect where the gsr stitches are in the fabric if that makes sense

    Hi Inga. I changed the way I resolve my German short rows because, like you I could see them and I didn’t like the look. I’m so pleased with the difference. Nimble Needles has a fantastic tutorial. Noth-cam.com/video/i_F8A5Lyz88/w-d-xo.html

    What a waste of time! What's the purpose of this video?

    • @natashawatt2211
      @natashawatt2211 ปีที่แล้ว

      To learn new techniques, see what someone else is knitting in order to get ideas for future projects, learn about different types of yarn, occasionally learn about living in Norway, see what modifications can be made to patterns in order to suit your individual tastes, explore different pattern designers and just simply listen to someone else who is passionate about knitting. That’s what I get from these videos from Inga.

      What is your purpose I wonder in making any negative comment about something you chose to watch. Content creators share their time and knowledge with the world. You share your negativity.

      I listen to this as I create and knit. And Inga’s discussion regarding the benefits of knitting is spot on. Give it a try. As a fellow physician , knitting has always given me the balance needed to provide healthcare to everyone , including folks that are struggling with negativity .
      So happy for your podcast , Inga❤
