This desperately needs more 8th notes in it... the quarter notes do NOTHING to detract from the triple feel of the time signature and at a certain point... YOU JUST COUNT THE ENTIRE THING IN THREE and can play it perfectly without issue...
...but if you littered these patterns with eighth notes (again quarters will NOT work, they will just emphasize the first note of the preceding/following triplet and tuplet patters) then the player would actually be forced to think of this piece like it is in 4 and not just glide through it hearing it as a triple regardless of what the time signature says.
