I’m not throwing rocks, but when you’ve had chunks of your skin cut out from melanoma, you’ll be more careful. I am days away from 5 years since my melanoma diagnosis, and when you’ve begged god to let you live to see your child graduate, it changes your perspective. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are very safe sunscreens.

THANK YOU for sharing this. She mentioned she doesn't burn, and I think a lot of people have the idea that if they are not burning, they are not getting sun damage, but that is not true. That's why darker skin tones who don't wear sunscreen, but don't burn, normally get more hyperpigmentation than those that do wear it.
Whether you burn or not does not matter, you are still accumulating sun damage. (And that could result in skin cancer.) I also don't think she realizes just how much more damaging the sun is compared to most other things that cause cancer. Sure most things have the risk of it, but there are very few things in this world that can cause the amount of damage that the sun does.
I'm truly sorry for what you have gone through. Idk if you're still going through treatment, but if you are I hope your treatment goes well. (And if you're not cancer free yet, I hope you one day will be.)
I think those of us who haven't experienced cancer yet should listen more to those that have.
And yes I know Tati says what she's saying here is just her opinion and you don't have to follow it, and how she's still careful, but this is kind of a dangerous opinion to share. Even if we don't have to follow it, people who aren't as educated are going to listen to her anyway. That sucks tbh.

I think I’ve went in the opposite direction with sun protection. Never wore sunscreen for most of my life because I don’t tend to burn. However, when I learned that a tan itself is evidence of skin damage, that gave me pause. Now I wear sunscreen daily, rain or shine, and my skin is looking much improved overall. Protecting your skin from the sun doesn’t mean fearing it.

    • @katgirlblue
      @katgirlblue ปีที่แล้ว +29

Absolutely right! A tan itself is skin damage. Every morning I slather on the sunblock, and have done since I was a teenager and read for the first time in a magazine about photo aging. It had two pictures that compared a guy who worked outside, and a monk in a monastery, both the same age. I guess you know how their skin looked - one was like leather and the other smooth. It made such an impression on me! Aside from that, I don't know why people tell Tati what she "should" do - it's her life!

She never said do not wear sunscreen, she uses it on her face- non nano zinc oxide is a safe sunscreen, but avobenzone is harmful-and most people spray it all over, also when you stop eating seed oils you have a better relationship with the sun, spend some time researching what she is talking about.

I was a wash my hair once a week gal for a while, until my hair dresser told me that it’s actually healthiest to wash your hair every 2-3 days! She also emphasized the importance of a detox/ clarifying shampoo every other wash, especially if you are using any product on your roots. When you wash more often, your scalp is healthier, which promotes hair growth! It truly is a matter of whatever works best for you, but just some food for thought! But let’s be real, your hair is ALWAYS stunning ❤🤩

    • @minimalist2036

My hairdresser told me the same thing, also dry shampoo shouldn’t be used more than once or twice a month because it clogs the hair follicles and causes hair loss. But hey, Tati does Tati and I doubt she changes her mind 🤷‍♀️

@@amykelly8319 again it’s about balance. If I am out for longer periods of time, yes sun or not it’s good to be careful. But I respectfully disagree that it is a must for 20 min of morning sun. Especially when my kids had rashes for weeks after using sunscreen two days in a row. However everyone is entitled to their opinion and each family has different health histories. Which is why I said that i think she prefaced it well, it wasn’t misleading and people need to just think and own their decisions for their family and I think everyone can be fine.

  • @sagebeauty

You don’t need to burn to do damage to your skin. You only need minutes of UV even as a darker skin tone person. Skin cancer does not discriminate. Wear the SPF everyday. Here in Australia we have the highest rates of skin cancer in the world for the simple fact that people don’t use enough sunscreen and they don’t reapply.

As a figure skater I rub castor oil on my knees at night and if I’ve really blown out my knee I’ll do a castor oil pack with cotton wool (it feels like linen) and plastic wrap for a few hours or all night. Depends. Castor oil promotes the regeneration of collagen and I get better results with that rather than taking collagen. Just thought I’d mention it and back you up. It’s a “Do this and over time you’ll feel better” rather than instant gratification.

In regards to the sun thing. My GP (doctor) here in Australia told me to sit in the sun for 5-10 minutes a day. I have low vit D levels and he told me to do this, obviously with a hat on and not during the hottest part of the day. But it has helped a lot with anxiety and moods. If I’m going to be spending more than 10 minutes in the sun with the UV 3 or above, then I need sunscreen.

❤❤❤I am mostly seed oil free but chips are still a weakness. I live in China and the women here in general are very good about avoiding the sun by using hats, visors and parasols and UV protection jackets. Many have beautiful skin but vitamin D deficiency is a real thing here. I have read a study that 15 minutes of sun without sunscreen a day helps with vitamin D absorption. I think being balanced is the key and avoiding extremes. Love you Tati ❤

Seed oils create free radicals that cause cellular damage, cellular damage can lend the body to developing autoimmune disorders and neurodegenerative disorders (think Alzheimers and Parkinsons). Free radicals also create an environment for cancer to flourish.
Seed oils are processed with hexane (which is a chemical solvent used in varnish and glue) to make it more shelf-stable, otherwise it would go rancid faster.
But hey, you do you, and stay clueless.
