Interesting comparison about whether take-off is more dangerous than landings statistically speaking. I've found many sources saying approach and landing is more dangerous, others say it's the take-off... There doesn't seem to be a general consensus. What's true though is that take-off, approach and landing combined are the most dangerous phases of the flight.
Could it be that we get so used to takeoffs being so routine and so easy so that we don't really even think much about it, as opposed to the landing where we are never quite sure that we are going to make a great landing, therefore, we are on top of our game, paying very close attention to everything? if something goes wrong on landing we are ready for it, whereas something going wrong on takeoff is a complete surprise.
