I doubt the click block is bakelite. The click blocks were a PITA as some were almost impossible to remove the knockouts without breaking the the sides of the block.
It might be a connector block that is 40 to 50 years old.
too right about the black plastic ones, they're terrible. Proteus and Lewden are the dogs tho
