Very beautiful and sensitive playing. The piece inspires its interpreters to give of their best, and I can also commend Aldo Ciccolini who continued to play it into his final years. (Several of his videos of the piece are available)

Thanks for this wonderful performance. I actually compared this performance with others(which I like as well) by listening many many times. I feel yours is my favorite since I feel you made great effort, from outfit to the actual presentation and performance, to bring audience back to the original scene of this song when Edward Elgar devoted this music to his wife in their engagement. There are other piano versions of this song I like as well, but this version definitely creates the best atmosphere and imagination Edward Elgar and his wife might have experienced in their engagement, almost 130 years ago...

A tempo that the piece will bear. Maybe because I'm English, I think a touch of poco semplice helps this work along. Keep your best punch for where it will hurt.

I've listened again. Perhaps I was being too severe. It's a Victorian piece, and it was an age of sentimentality and melodrama. Piano roll recordings by people like Greig and Faure attest to a degree of rubato that seems to our ears ludicrously exaggerated and undisciplined. We seem to have grown more austere. Our performances could be thought to be anachronistic. But it is for today's audiences that you are performing. Understatement can be devastatingly effective. But very hard to pull off.
