I see. Yes! You wouldn't think that a portion of the strap itself is getting stuffed in there! Thank you so much. Yes, I was trying to insert the entire plastic part in there. It's just the part where the strap is looped into the plastic. Very odd design. Thank you!
I figured out this somehow, for one slot, but then the straps are too short for the remaining, so something must be wrong . Nothing more to adjust with the wheel 😢
I think they cheapened up the inside even more and it doeant look like that...its going back to the store and if they can assemble it i wont return it.

You should invent a welders hard hat.
It was required for the job. There are ways to weld with a hard hat on. It just needs brackets of sorts. My welding teacher had one like that.
