If Thor Rag would have been a serious movie, yes, but since it wasn’t AA would have been a waste. Plus mainstream just will NOT use anything with growler vocals, even if it’s incredible like AA. It’s silly
In old Norse mythology, Jörmundgandr (or the Midgard Serpent) is a monstrous snake, that encircles the Earth (Midgard) and biting its own tail. When it releases its tail, Ragnarök will begin. The last meeting between the serpent and Thor is predicted to occur at Ragnarök, when Jörmungandr will come out of the sea and poison the ocean and the sky. Thor will kill Jörmungandr and then walk nine paces before falling dead, having been poisoned by the serpent's venom.
Never thought of them as death metal, far too melodic. Death metal makes me think of bands like Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death who I can't stand, I can actually listen to Amon Amarth even though I don't like the vocal style.
What actually makes it still death metal at all though? It's nowhere near as heavy as those death, you can actually make out with the vocalist is saying, the drums aren't as intense, it loses the very essence of death metal?
This is the band that got me into growled vocals. I was like "Wait, I know what he's saying!" It's an acquired taste, and Amon Amarth made me acquire it!
All of their songs are stories. You can listen to any of them for viking stories. Listen to 'Fate of Norns' and get hit by the feels. Listen to 'the Hero' and understand the mercenary with a turn of heart. Listen to 'Under the Northern Star' and sail with a viking at night. Seriously man. Where most metal is filled up with religiousness, rebelliousness, anger, or something edgy or whatever...Amon Amarth and a few other bands are just telling badass stories with the intensity they deserve. They're all good.
Fate of the norns really is right in the feels. Never cried to a song till I heard that one. Got a tear in my eye just from thinking about that song, god dammit.
Better go with Brothers of Metal or Blood of my Enemies (Sons of Odin or Return of the Warlord are also worthy of mention, but in reality , Manowar has so damn many super dope tracks thats its pretty much impossible to pick just one ,, But like in Blood of my Enemies chorus, i want this on my tombstone Strong winds, magic mist "To Asgard the Valkyries fly High overhead, they carry the dead Where the blood of my enemy lies "

War Of The Gods is so similar to TOTTG, they both have the same sort of build at the intro and leap into the main riff with ballsy glee. But War Of The Gods gets my vote too. Fucking intense and awesome 🤘
My introduction to amon amarth was probably the strangest of them all. I was walking through Walmart's music selection when I was a senior in high school (2012). I noticed their album surtur's rising on the shelf. I thought "well this look's pretty cool. If it sucks at least it's only 10 dollars." Best 10 dollars I have ever spent.
Hey man , first off I want to say as a metal head , thank you for taking time out of your day to do these reviews. Your reactions are basically the same when I hear these songs for the first time as well. Thank you for truly enjoying metal with an open mind and I'm really stoked for you when you keep finding gems through the band's you listen to . Keep up the great reviews and you got me to sub
Fun fact. They got Alexhi, the lead singer and guitarist from children of bodom, to play the guitar solo for this song. It took them a good while to nail it live.
Amon Amarth is amazing. I met them a few years ago at Mayhem Fest and they signed a photo for me. They were nothing like they seem to be in their videos or pictures. They were the nicest guys and super happy to be there. I've been a fan ever since.
I would say Thousand Years of Oppression, but the lyrics might be lost of those who don't know much of Norse myth and history or have interest in it...

@@KyleDaSloth Yes, but viking metal is a musical style related to black metal. Amon Amarth does not play this genre, just beacuse you sing about viking themes doesn't make you a viking metal band, check out bathories later albums, or Windir if you want to listen to the genre viking metal. Viking themed metal, and viking metal are two seperate things.
It's nice to see people go out of their way to listen to music they normally wouldn't. Too many people get stuck on one genre & take a s#$t on anything that isn't their style. Great job!
New Vid I'm in 💪 Btw funny Story about me finding out Amon exists : My old Latin Teacher alowed us in one lesson to play music while working ... everyone wanted to take some , pardon, Chart-Shit no one knows anymore today . My Teacher almost wanted to instant end the "music allowed Lesson" until i suggested Rammstein He was surprised that I suggested it and asked me after the lesson how it came so Well i just love them , they are one of my alltime loves (New Album End 2018/Beginning 2019 !!!!) Then he said : Oh cool , my alltime Fav is Amon Amarth Me : Who are they ? Teacher : Oh shit , u don't know them .... well i'm your teacher , so i'll teach u now : forget todays homework, Listen to this Twighlight of the Thundergod I will always Thank my wiking like looking Latin teacher for getting me into Amon Amarth
Atilla Durkaya I found out my history teacher was a Amon Amarth fan pretty recently. He sang some lyrics from Raise Your Horns from the Jomsviking album while he was working, and then I sang the next ones. He replied with something along the lines of “I’m so glad that you listen to that album”
I saw these guys live for the first time in 2019 and i`m still deaf, still have singed hair and am still in complete awe at just how good they were live!
This is the first Opeth song I would recommend as well, as I think its a PERFECT introductory song to experience the brilliant mix of clean and growling vocals. However, I think the studio version would be better to listen to first. Opeth is fucking amazing live, though.
Oh my god, YES! I'm not sure if he's ready for that, though. Sometimes it's best to just ease people in to that kind of thing. I'd still love to see the shock and awe in his face. Fuck it. Hey Alex... DO IT!!!!
there are so many treasures from Amon Amarth to discover. Pursuit of the vikings, death in fire, cry of the black birds, war of the gods, for victory or death, father of the wolf, raise your horns, the hero, live for the kill, valhall awaits me, victorious march, guardians of Asgaard.
What's up man. I respect the open mindedness man. I've been a metal head my entire life. Thanks for giving viking metal a shot. I think you should listen to Once Human- eye of chaos. They're insane!
You should also react to Dimmu Borgir I reccomend their songs "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" "The Serpent Offering" "Gateways" and "Council of Wolves and Snakes"
Thor is one of the few "good" Norse deities. He was a brutal warrior, but he had a sense of justice and honor, and he defeated this humongous serpent, which is what this song tells about. The serpent was bound to devour the world like a python. Thor slew it to protect mankind.
Digging the channel man, you're an open minded dude which is always worthy of a sub. You should react to Involuntary Doppelganger by Archspire. It will blow your mind balls.
More Amon Amarth? No problem! Guardians of Asgard, Runes to my Memory, Cry of the Blackbirds, Father of the Wolf (especially do this one, arguably their best music video), At Dawns First Light, Way of Vikings, Runes to My Memory.... yeah, any (or all) of these songs would be AWESOME. Cheers man!
WildChildElsner What about Destroyer of the universe or Where is your god?... hmm... Pursuit of vikings, a classic one ;) oh, Thousand years of oppresion. That. Would. Be. Fucking. Awesome.
This is the first video I've seen of your's, and I have to say I like your reaction to it (meaning that as a non-metal-er you're STILL keeping an open mind, and I RESPECT THE HELL out of that). I'd personally love to see your reaction to their video of the song "Pursuit of Vikings", assuming you haven't already done that. Regardless, GREAT reaction video dude
First time hearing this band myself and can’t say I didn’t like it? Cause this was awesome! Love the style awesome take on Viking/metal it is brilliant! Reminds me of a few bands I’ve listened to but they have a pure sense of style, awesome band! Actually going to dive more into this! Love the lyrics too, super dope, the video was awesome too! All round pretty good band, great reaction as always my man! Loving the content keep grinding and stay striving bro! My suggestion for a band I think you’d like too if you interested in listening in your spare time or for a video! Either is awesome here or is! Band: Veil of Maya Song: Aeris

ChainGuN2 Carolus Rex (Swedish version) is also a great choice
goosebumps the whole time! when u see a band live and they're amazing it makes the recorded music even more enjoyable. u get the energy of the band and remembering the intensity of the crowd....just epic. nothing like it
*Devin Townsend* - Deadhead (Live at Royal Albert Hall) and Kingdom (live at EMGtv). Thank me later :D
March of the Poozers!
Kingdom EMG TV, but also anything else from Hevy Devy
You gotta do this Alex :)
AMON AMARTH'S LIVE SHOW IS BADASS TOO AND THE LEAD SINGER IS PART OF THE GRIMFROST BRAND.. Anything Viking Go To That Store...
Guardians of Asgaard, the Pursuit of Vikings Are Other Staple Songs I Love Every Album These Guys Put Out
Vinnechi V-rOcKs PiT Petaccio destroyer of the universe as well
Meshuggah- Bleed or Trivium- In Waves (live)
Someone Fun Definitely Bleed but not the music video
This is the song that literally started my metal crusade back in 2008 I will never forget how I got chills listening to it. Awesome man!
my favorite Viking/death metal band
Death metal, amon amarth are not viking metal in any form except for the theme.
Melodic Death Metal, not Death Metal.
@@moldveien1515 the theme accounts for 40% of the band's identity.
@@moldveien1515 I'm not disagreeing with you. Johan said in interviews that they're not technically Viking metal.
It's nice to see people go out of their way to listen to music they normally wouldn't. Too many people get stuck on one genre & take a s#$t on anything that isn't their style. Great job!
New Vid
I'm in 💪
Btw funny Story about me finding out Amon exists :
My old Latin Teacher alowed us in one lesson to play music while working ... everyone wanted to take some , pardon, Chart-Shit no one knows anymore today . My Teacher almost wanted to instant end the "music allowed Lesson" until i suggested Rammstein
He was surprised that I suggested it and asked me after the lesson how it came so
Well i just love them , they are one of my alltime loves (New Album End 2018/Beginning 2019 !!!!)
Then he said :
Oh cool , my alltime Fav is Amon Amarth
Me : Who are they ?
Teacher : Oh shit , u don't know them .... well i'm your teacher , so i'll teach u now : forget todays homework, Listen to this
Twighlight of the Thundergod
I will always Thank my wiking like looking Latin teacher for getting me into Amon Amarth
Atilla Durkaya Actually a cool story bro!
Metal fan teachers? How could you possibly go wrong? You can't, in my book.
I saw these guys live for the first time in 2019 and i`m still deaf, still have singed hair and am still in complete awe at just how good they were live!
Opeth - Harlequin Forest ( live roundhouse tapes)
This is the first Opeth song I would recommend as well, as I think its a PERFECT introductory song to experience the brilliant mix of clean and growling vocals. However, I think the studio version would be better to listen to first. Opeth is fucking amazing live, though.
Opeth in general
They didn't play it at roundhouse.
TheAskald yeah he probably meant the royal Albert hall version
Listen Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Violation
A time-honored rite of passage for react channels. =D
Oh my god, YES! I'm not sure if he's ready for that, though. Sometimes it's best to just ease people in to that kind of thing. I'd still love to see the shock and awe in his face. Fuck it. Hey Alex... DO IT!!!!
I fucking love that song. It's the first Fleshgod Apocalypse song I've heard and it's still my favorite song by them....
Fuck yes
YES! Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Violation
DUUUUUDE YEEEES, but do Deceiver of the Gods or First Kill by them!
Yes!!
there are so many treasures from Amon Amarth to discover. Pursuit of the vikings, death in fire, cry of the black birds, war of the gods, for victory or death, father of the wolf, raise your horns, the hero, live for the kill, valhall awaits me, victorious march, guardians of Asgaard.
First Kill, fuck yes
Ja i go with father of the wolf
React to Amon amarth- Asator plllls
Another viking metal that would be interesting to see a reaction on is: Tyr~ Hold the Heathen Hammer High
Ensiferum - victory songs !!! Best viking metal !!! Or ensiferum - twilight tavern
Polaris: Lucid
Crystal Lake: Apollo
You're going to love them!!!!!!!
React THY ART IS MURDER - HOLY WAR LYRICS
Alexandre Araújo yes!!
Or the Son of misery
Agreed
Not Reign of Darkness? I respectfully disagree.
Thy art 😍
Scandinavian melodic death metal is the greatest sub-genre of metal. Such a powerful, full sound.
Anthony Zuniga hell yeah
Cradle of filth-from the cradle to enslave!!! Not giving up. LoL
Brandon Boughton I second this
I third this!
The Aussie Metalhead 😂😂😂
Alex Hefner do it bro! 😆
Archspire is on the far end of understandable metal for newer metalheads lol. I love them, but it's an ambitious listen.
This. Henker - Slave of My Art is also a good one.
Kyle Ledermann you are very right there man! But sometimes you've gotta see how deep the pool can get 😜
You should also listen to Amon Amarth's songs "Guardians Of Asgaard", "The Last Stand Of Frej" and "Gods Of War Arise"
Rings of Saturn!
Yes, yes do this band.
Like "inadequate" or "The Macrovosm"
I play Amon Armarth while playing Elder Scrolls.
Its fucking perfect
Sabaton - Uprising
Now you have grown a beard boy...
Oh, they have a lot of songs about myths. Listen to "Deciever Of The Gods". This song is about Loki, brother of Thor. And its badass too.
Back to back to back to back watching reactions to *TWIGHLIGHT OF THE THUNDERGOD.* Just because this song is EPIC!
You should check out Alestorm. They are pirate metal. Also, check out Eluveite. They are Celtic metal. Really cool, different types of metal.
Andrew Schneider Finntroll!!!
Amon Amarth - As Loke Falls
Definitely one of their best songs.
In fact most songs for Deceiver of the Gods.
Cheers man!
Embrace of the Endless Ocean
+xTHIRDHORSEMANx is correct.
Fate of Norns?
WildChildElsner What about Destroyer of the universe or Where is your god?... hmm... Pursuit of vikings, a classic one ;) oh, Thousand years of oppresion. That. Would. Be. Fucking. Awesome.
I'm not one of them. How ever, Fate of Norns is probably one of the most 'accessible' of anything post 2000...
Band: Veil of Maya
Song: Aeris
Enjoying the reactions. For your next Amon Amarth song you should try Cry of the Blackbirds or Pursuit of Vikings
Yeah Yeah Yeahs Cry of the Blackbirds would blow his mind out of this dimension
Hell yeah man its an epic ride. I forgot 'Runes to my memory' when suggesting the songs. I think he would love that one as well.
Let's face it. Amon Amarth are just fucking Beast. His reaction was exactly like mine. And every new song and album I have the same reaction dude. like a rediscovery
Pursuit of the vikings will always be my favorite AA song.
Vince Magat second best for me.First is Death in Fire
Please react to architects and maybe do another parkway drive song. Love your vids!
Architects for sure, maybe Doomsday or These Colours Don't Run
Definitely! "These colours Don't run" would be perfect
Boneyards
Metal= Most versatile music genre ever!
Now do OPETH! Opeth - Reverie / Harlequin Forest!
serbster bleak
Bro, did that solo melt your brain?! Lol! Also, "Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags" is a beast of a song, off the same album as this!
SpacePope love that song!!!
fun fact: the solo is written by Roope Latvala from children of bodom
Aboutmonkey is it really? I thought it was Alexi who wrote/played it
xILazyyx, wikipedia says it's roope
any Iron Maiden song, please

yea, he should watch it live tho(en vivo), its way better
“Father of the wolf” or “as Loke falls”
Rylan damn I was preachin death in fire, but as like falls right up there with it
