    Most informative video on using callas in a wedding that i have seen, thanks so much (especially about the nail polish, sounds much better than someone else's suggestion of wax)

      Thanks so much for watching our show, Patsy! We also love the idea of nail polish to seal the calla stems because it is so easy. We hope you will join us again soon, and wishing you all the best.

    did not know that the Calla secretes the toxic stuff.. wow good to know here i was thinking of adding them to my wedding cake as the decorations.. lol. glad i seen that!

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, callas have a sap that can cause issues with skin or clothes so it's probably better to leave them off the cake. Thanks so much for watching our show, and we hope that your wedding celebration was a lovely one. Have a beautiful week and all the best to you!

    wow. had no idea they had toxic "sap"... thank you so much for letting us know! every other video i've watched on here about callas said nothing about that at all!

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, callas and daffodils both put off sap that can be toxic to other flowers so they need to be processed separately. Thanks so much for watching our show, and we hope that you will join us again soon, Bluecutipy1. Have a delightful week!

    I absolutely love your videos!!! I will be doing the wedding flowers with callas cascading in the holder with loamie foam... in this case what do I use to trap the sap in the stem
    Thank you!

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! The cut portion of the stem would be in foam so there is no danger of the sap damaging the bridal gown.

    How do I take this technique and make a calla Lilly tear drop cascading bouquet.

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting question, Darlene! It may be a little more challenging to do with just callas, but this video about building a cascade bouquet may help. As Leanne mentions in the video, this design combines a hand-tied bouquet with a hand-wired one for the cascade effect. You many need some foliage to help cover mechanics, especially if you plan to use only callas. We sent you the video from the Flower School Video Library because it has a transcript below the video and that will help you walk through the steps more easily. Here it is: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/flower-school-cascade-wedding-bouquet.html Remember that callas can be manipulated to give that curvy effect, which will help achieve the cascade look. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch our show. We hope that you will join us again soon and wish you all the best in all that you do! P.S. We found another video that might give a similar effect to the one you desire and it features callas specifically: th-cam.com/video/-GULTck8cXc/w-d-xo.html All the best to you!

    So they don’t need to sit in water prior to delivery?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! You could have them sit in a vase of water prior to delivery then treat the ends allowing them to fully dry before delivery. You will have 12-24 hours before the callas begin to fade, making them a great flower for event work.

    How does the flower hydrate after adding the nail polish?

    • @FlowerSchool
      @FlowerSchool  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The nail polish is a last minute treatment. The flowers will not rink after treatment.......

    • @FlowerSchool
