so...not specificalluy related to Karate, but fun fact: In Japan, it's considered impolite to go to a concert and sing along with the vocalist. The rest of the audience is there to hear the band, not you, so they won't sing out loud the way a western crowd would. The 'job' of Moa and Momo (and Yui) is to give the audience a part that it's accepable to jump and chant along with. The audience is really well syncronized *because* the backup girls keep everything coordinated. They're a big part of what makes the whole thing pop...they're like the interface between the stage and the crowd.
At 2016 Download, BABYMETL began their stage after a 40-minute interruption due to heavy rain; Yui and Moa didn't hesitate to lie down on the wet floor, and Su took off her in-ear monitors to listen to the crowd. This was their best performance to the audience who had been waiting all through the heavy rain. They performed at Futenma Air Base in Okinawa this year and played this song there as well.
The entire theme of Karate is overcoming yourself to become better. To improve, to move forward. The PIA Arena performance is that told in a cinematic way. The new girls (known as Metalverse) act as alternate universe BABYMETAL, the younger version of them. Notice they wear red, symbolic of BABYMETAL's younger days. The OGs overcome them and improve. This was also, many believe, a final farewell to the old BABYMETAL, including Yui, as she appears a few times in the extended video. The video highlights how hard Su and Moa had to fight on without her, to establish themselves in the duo era, the darkest period of the band, to rise above their own limitations. Now with Momo at their side, restoring the trio, they are able to overcome their past. And move on. Black Night was the death of the old. (Lore-wise BABYMETAL literally died on Black Night). The entirety of Clear Night (and the ending of Black Night) was their rebirth. A lot changed those two nights. This video shows that Lore segment. th-cam.com/video/_276UU_5GdI/w-d-xo.html It should be noted that those in attendance have said the entire crowd was holding their breath, because the way everything was presented, it appeared that BABYMETAL might be being replaced by the new girls. The moment the girls were named, those cheers thundered, especially the one for Momo. Also, for BABYMETAL Death, I would HIGHLY recommend, for lore reasons, that you include the version from PIA arena. I alluded to it before with IDZ and it being an important moment. I have probably already spoiled why to a degree, but that song had not been performed since 2017, since they wouldnt do it without Yui. The encore of Clear Night BMD into IDZ is one of the greatest moments in all of BM's lore history. The restoration complete, the dark era officially over, and the launch into the 2023/2024 world tour.
I saw them live last month, it was their second time in Mexico City and this was on their setlist instead of Monochrome and it was the most emotional part of the show. Also, Boh (bass player) looks like he’s having a hell of a time playing that gig at Download.
Good triple reaction.🦊🤘 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album (2016). It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this because as a Japanese martial art it reflects their culture - as with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards. You were right, in the video the figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that). They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (but they are not martial artists). Moa catching the fly was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time. She also let it go, we all know Moa is the sweetest person on the planet and she wouldn't hurt a fly. This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards". Download 2016 was renamed DRownload it rained so hard all weekend. BABYMETAL's set was delayed 40 minutes while the equipment was covered and water was swept off the stage (there are photos of their producer Kobametal out there with a broom). 2 years before this the Download organiser was asked if BABYMETAL would be invited (they were at Sonisphere that year). He said there was a time and a place for bands like BABYMETAL but they were a "Japanese fad and they would never play Download". In 2015 DragonForce smuggled them in and invited them on stage to play 'Gimme Chocolate' (they were playing the awards ceremony together in London a few days later). The crowd that gathered after word got out spread beyond the boundaries of the DragonForce stage. 2016 and here they were at Download with an official invite and playing the main stage. They have been back again in 2018 (should have played in 2020 but it was cancelled) and in 2023 (or was it this year?) their set was cut short by the bad weather. You have already been told about the Metalverse girls. They did play a couple of their own concerts and opened at a couple of festivals (including Fox_Fest where they were supported by instrumental band Asterism). I haven't heard any news of them more recently.
You've stumbled on the Metalverse. 🤣 That's literally what the other group is called. Definitely not confusing at all. 🤣 It's okay to say Su is better here since she has more experience. Miko, the lead singer of Metalverse was 16 here. And the group Metalverse were formed as part of Babymetal lore earlier that year. Think of it as a Babymetal spin-off. The song "Karate" is essentially about letting go of your past self, not let your past mistakes weight you down, and keep moving forward. So having the younger Metalverse, is sort of an homage to their old self. They even wear their iconic black and red look. Metalverse is another project by Koba and has performed some original song of their own. But currently, it's kinda unknown what direction they will go and it's kinda on hold at the moment. And the members are currently focusing on their studies while at it. So just gotta wait and see. They have two live performance released if you want to check them out. Also if you're interested, for "Babymetal Death" reaction, you could add "Babymetal Death" from PIA arena as well. The song was shelved for a while and PIA is when it came back. "Babymetal Death - Shin version" Live at PIA Arena Black Night 2023. (A different version of the song that debuted on their 10th anniversary.) th-cam.com/video/sBOEcgYZhxM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sLCZUNRkiuya3Sy9 "Babymetal Death" Live at PIA Arena Clear Night 2023. Anyway, looking forward for the guide too. Enjoy!! 🦊🦊🦊
Hey there, whiskey-metal . I don’t usually comment, but you are doing a really good job. Thank you for what seems to be a very honest reaction. And I think the way you are doing it is the best way. Cheers.
@@ShadeReactsLive If you want a weeb from Texas then Mori Calliope is from Texas. She's a Vtuber for the Japanese company Hololive. She sounds even more Texan when she speaks Japanese it's pretty funny. She has like 2.5 million subscribers on TH-cam. She does a lot of music. She did a lot stuff with Gawr Gura who is my favorite. Gawr Gura famously got a million subscribers on TH-cam in 35 days. Mori and Gura did an awesome cover of King. Or Q is a great original song MV they did together. You'd never know it from the songs but Gura doesn't speak Japanese.
When you see Fans waiting in the heavy Rain for a Band you know how dedicated they are^^. The Connection they have with the Fans ist just so awesome...no wonder i fell for their Spell^^.
Such fun reactions Whiskey-Metal (I saw someone else said this first but it fits!), thank you! Couple of quick notes (i'm sure others will have more/better detail this is from memory) - this Download Festival 2016 performance came a year after Download refused to invite them because they were "a fad", but they crashed the festival and played anyway because Dragonforce invited them to join them on stage - and played their songs with them. Also, one thing I notice with Babymetal vs other metal; Babymetal tends to point aggression at the self (like in this song) as opposed to most metal where aggressive aspects point outwardly. BM music is usually some mix of super fun, and self-reflective. I'll also tell you my whiskey story. my younger sister and her husband like Woodford Reserve, in 2014 i found a nice sale on a distiller version of it in 1l bottles and was going to get them one. then i saw that a case of them was only a tiny bit more (like ridiculous markdown), and i thought why not get a case then i can gift even more for barely more money. It was so heavily discounted that i bought 2 cases. So now it is still, 10 years later, the only whiskey i drink because i drink like twice a year if that and i have like 10 bottles of it left after the 2014 gifts. I didn't say it was a great story! just a whiskey story!
I'd prefer to hang out in the whiskey room, too. Holy shit, dude. You're going to love Electric Callboy. Clean to harsh and back again is their shtick. 🤘🦊🤘
Here's another recommendation: METALI! A super cool song that mixes traditional japanese musical elements with Tom Morello's amazing guitarist skills! Since this track is more recent there is no older performance videos for it, so I'll share something different and unusual. In the third video linked below there is the full live performance from Babymetal's first show ever in Brazil (METALI! performance starts at 16:02). Brazilian crowds are known for their outstanding energy and for singing along every lyric, even if they don't know the language lol I'm also recommending this so you can see how good the band and the girls are even in a smaller venue and without the flashy light shows and professional post production recording. Other than that, it's just really fun to see the girls reactions to the crowds excitement and constant chanting, something they're not as used to, since most fans from other countries only sing along Moa's and Momo's/Yui's chants and not the entire song. Great triple reaction...again.Thanks! And nice drinking room. I salute you, sir. 🫡 "Karate" is on their poppier side in my opinion BUT that main riff comes out from nowhere and hits you like a bus. The music video is one of their best (if not the best: multiple award winning, etc.) and it pretty much explains the lyrics, which are about resilience and endurance. Su-metal mentioned in an interview that karate perfectly represents this metaphor because it's the only martial art without "ukemi" (the techniques used in many martial arts to fall "properly"). Yes, "Karate" was released in 2016. And the three white hooded figures in the "Monochrome" piano version video from the f1rst take can be a reminiscence of this. The figues are actually them since they are fighting their inner demons. Fun fact: they also performed wearing all white in one very special occasion during their first "reborn" at the end of Legend Z (early 2013). "It was raining?" That edition of Download was renamed to "Drownload" for obvious reasons. Although Download 2024 was even worse since they had to stop and cut the set. There is a legendary and funny story about the Download Festival: Andy Copping (one of the promoters for Download) said in 2014 on X (literally): "There's a time & a place for Baby Metal. Each to their own but Download Festival is not it" Well, the next year (2015) Dragonforce snuck them in, on their own time spot and played "Gimme Chocolate" with the girls. The crowd went nuts and Copping could barely believe it... The next year (2016) they were booked on their own right and played at the main stage as you saw. Oh oh... it looks like For the Fox God channel has been taken down. 😭 Great you discovered METALVERSE, another group formed by Kobametal. They appeared in four BABYMETAL concerts performing "Doki Doki Morning" and "Karate" with them. They have performed a few more gigs and have their own (unreleased) songs but there are no news about them since last May. Miko Todaka is their singer. Yes, she's really good. And yes, it's unfair to compare anyone to Su-metal. 😊 I freaked out when I knew they were flying a drones inside a crowded venue, haha... The drone pilot is Mai Shiraishi. She's a Japanese representative for world drone racing championship. I believe they are in good hands. See you!! 🤣 🤘🦊
Karate was the lead single from Babymetal's second studio album, Metal Resistance, which is why it's such a catchy radio friendly kind of song. It was one of their most successful singles, and it remains to this day a regular part of their touring set, particularly at festivals. The music video does a good job of expressing the core idea of the song which is about overcoming your own inner struggles and becoming a better and stronger person. Themes like resilience, perseverance, and optimism in the face of adversity are key ideas that run through Babymetal's catalogue. Babymetal have always taken their position of role models to young people very seriously, ensuring that they are presenting uplifting ideas through their music, and setting a good example with their own exemplary behaviour. When they created the choreography for Karate, the girls watched martial arts films with their choreographer Mikiko for ideas of moves they could include in the dance routine, hence all the punches, kicks, blocks, and stances that feature as part of the choreo. The Download 2016 festival is pretty infamous because it rained nonstop the entire weekend, which create all manner of challenges for the bands playing. Shortly before Babymetal was meant to go on, there was a downpour of rain and the stage got wet, and for a while there was some doubt about whether the stage would be safe for the girls to dance on. They eventually went on, but there was a delay while the stage was being dried, and Kobametal went and mopped the stage himself to make sure that it was safe for the girls to perform. There are several funny photos online of Koba with mop in hand on the stage. The PIA Arena performance requires a bit of explanation on two fronts. The first thing that needs to be explained is Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin (Cherry Blossom Academy) or SG for short, was an idol group managed by Amuse that ran from 2010-2021 featuring girls aged from 10 to 15 years of age and intended for an audience of the same age. It's purpose was to give up and coming idols training and experience in all aspects of performance (acting, singing, dancing, presentation, etc.) before they moved on to other projects. Members would join SG aged 10-12 and would "graduate" and move on to other projects at age 15. At any given time, there were usually 10 to 12 members of the group, and each year the girls that had turned 15 during the year would graduate, and a new group of younger girls would join, so over the course of the group's eleven year run it had 36 members. The group was themed around the idea of school life and afterschool club activities, so they had a cooking club, the baton twirling club, science club, and of course, the most important club of all, "juon-bu" 重音部 , the heavy music club, otherwise known as Babymetal. When SG began in 2010, Su was one of the founding members, and Yui and Moa were the first new students to transfer in during the first year. Babymetal's first appearance was at the Sakura Gakuin Festival 2010, which was the first SG live show. Su would graduate from SG in 2013 and Babymetal would officially separate from SG to become an independent act, although Yui and Moa would remain with SG until they graduated in 2015 while doing Babymetal at the same times. The three new girls that appeared at PIA Arena (they also appeared at another show prior to this) were not named at the time of the performance, but fans very quickly recognised who they were. The lead vocalist is Miko Todaka, who was 16 at the time of this performance; she was a member of the final class of Sakura Gakuin and graduated in 2021 when SG disbanded. The other two girls are Sakia Kimura (age 14 at the time of the PIA show), also from the last SG class, and Kokona Kato (age 14) from Amuse Camp, which is a new group that now fills more or less the same role in Amuse's talent development pipeline that SG used to. Several months after this performance, it was revealed that this new group was called Metalverse, and they were a little sister group to Babymetal. Since then, they have done a handful of live performances and officially released two songs "Crazy J" and "Naked Princess". I saw them live at FOX_FEST in May 2024 and I was impressed by Miko's vocals and stage presence. However since, then, they've been radio silent, so it's not clear what is happening with the group at the moment. The other aspect of the PIA performance is it's place within the context of the The Other One album and the transition that was taking place within Babymetal. The Other One is a concept album themed around the ideas of multiverses with each song on the album representing a Babymetal from a different reality. In the context of this performance, the Metalverse girls are playing the role of Babymetal from another universe and appearing to challenge our Babymetal. The PIA Arena show, which was formally titled "Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night & Clear Night", was all about closing the door on the first ten years of Babymetal, known as the "Metal Resistance" era, and beginning (hence the name of the show) the new era, which we now know is the "Metalverse" era (ikr?). As has been mentioned, the PIA show was also the show that Avenger Momoko was elevated by the Fox God to become Momometal and join Babymetal. They also changed the band's logo from the original one that they had used for the first ten years to a newer more streamlined (but less cute) version to represent the new era. The whole show was about drawing a line under the first ten years of Babymetal and resetting things for the group to move forwards. The performance of Karate was, at least to my understanding, about tying the past and future of Babymetal together, paying respect to what they achieved in the first ten years, and looking forward to what lies ahead. I was in the crowd at PIA and the feeling I got from the performance of Karate, particularly the interlude where they showed the video montage of past performances, was about paying respect to everything that Babymetal had achieved, and particularly acknowledging Yui's contribution to Babymetal one last time before Momoko officially became the new third member. The feeling in the crowd during the interlude was one I remember very clearly; the crowd was very quiet and still and were watching the montage on the screen intently and it felt like the mood in the room was both wistful and reverent. It was a special moment. Overall the show had the feeling of a celebration of the rebirth of Babymetal and a welcome party for Momometal, but the Karate performance felt like a last nod to the past and Yui's part in it, as well as a taste of the future. And yes, the PIA show was incredible. It's the best Babymetal show, and concert in general that I have ever been to. It was well worth going all the way to Japan for.
Hook, line and sinker.... My thoughts every time i open my youtube the past few days and you're at the top of my feed with another reaction to BabyMetal. They got you good, didn't they ? lol All good. There's always room for one more with The One and you're fitting in perfectly and saves me from having to look for new reactions. You're doing great. I've seen other comments suggesting to view some of their commentaries and their Sakura Gakuin clips. These will give you such a bigger appreciation for them. I think it's about that time and a good idea. You can use them for reaction videos as well.
The drone pilot... There is a drone racing world competition with a strong Japanese team, and AFAIK the pilot in the PIA arena was namaikicastle, she is one of the bests not just in Japan but in the world. Koba doesn't hire amateurs.
During that festival su kept looking off to the side and smiling. There was a giant ferris wheel that reminded her of the one her family used to take her and her sister to when they were little.
Surely Doki Doki Morning is next. That's where it all started. Start with the original video. And the PIA Arena performance also has the special guest.
You weren't kidding about Whiskey Prince, I'm jealous of your collection!! Karate is about fighting your inner demons with the help of your loved ones, that's why the figures in white were themselves. Another uplifting message from BM. As other have told, METALVERSE was conceived as the "little sisters" of BABYMETAL. They were brought from the same idol pop group matrix of BM, Sakura Gakuin. They performed in some shows together and even were given their own songs, in a style more 1940's swing, and are pretty cool. The singer is really good. Maybe I'm wrong but they seem to have ceased activities in 2024. Waiting for the next one!! 🤘🦊
Enjoyed the start seeing the Whiskey room, awesome man! This is the song that I randomly clicked on for no reason on my TH-cam recommends back in March of 2023. I don't know what made me click on it as I had never heard of Babymetal even though they have been around since 2011. I was totally confused and in shock watching it not understanding what I was seeing. I kinda liked it but didn't understand why, it was so bizarre. I ended up rewatching the MV like 5 times to try and comprehend what was going on. After that it was history for me and I fell deep down the Foxhole. I believe they are chanting "Ossu!", like you mentioned, a common thing in martial arts. I 100% agree, my favorite is blending harsh with clean vocals. Su doesn't get to do it much but when she does it is perfection. At the end of the MV if you look closely in the eyes of each ghost you can seeing the reflection of each of the girls representing the inner fight within themselves, very clever detail. Dude it started pouring at the Download show, I agree it made it even more epic at the end, the girls not letting it phase them at all. Koba is known for using alot of famous film themes like Matrix, Marvel, and Star Wars. Some might find it cheesy but I really enjoy it along with the BM Fox God lore. So the other group of ladies was a new spinoff group called Metalverse, more of a rock pop than metal pop and much younger in their teens. They still exist to this day, they are just kinda in limbo though. Many of us are hoping they will release an album in 2025 as they have made about 7 tracks so far and have performed live like 4 times. Karate still remains in my top 3 songs usually along with BMC and Monochrome, my list changes often as there are so many great songs. The video playing on the screen was kind of a homage to the old era of BM with Yui. The PIA show was the closing of the old BM and being reborn into their new era with Momo, reinvigorating Su and Moa ready to blaze ahead. Ever since this show BM has been near relentless touring worldwide and making collabs, probably secretly working on their new album also, even playing a side role in a movie called Heavier Trip. I could go on and on but I'll leave it at that LOL! The video and quality of the shows over the past few years is just on another level, they spare no expense on making content top tier. Sounds good doing Ratatata, BM Death, and the Guide by A Fox Song. Also cool you starting to do some other bands, you don't want to blaze through all of BM too fast, enjoy the journey! Cya next time and glad to see you hopped in the FB group!
For me the difference from the MV to the live ones of this song is that the MV is catchy and heavy where you can just headbang while the live ones are more emotional because of the additional intro and the extended bridge where they fall down and get back up where they interact with the crowd then proceeding to the last chorus...gets me everytime🤘🥺 Another great reaction🦊🔥 Again😅 please do No rain, No rainbow live at Legend S Baptism XX
The similarities between Su and Miko (Metalverse's lead singer) don't stop at just their voices. Both hail from Hiroshima, both attended Actor's School Hiroshima for many years and both were members of the idol group Sakura Gakuin (where Babymetal was originally a sub group of before becoming an independent act). If you wanna check out Babymetal's roots the Sakura Gakuin is also worth checking out for quirky pop songs.
What better way to promote your new group then to have them share the stage with your most accomplished group. Metalverse first appeared a few months earlier at the Babymetal Returns shows doing Doki Doki Morning. The lead singer Miko Todaka followed almost the same path as Su, both were born in Hiroshima, got their training at Actors School Hiroshima, then went to Sakura Gakuin before Koba placed them to lead his projects.
You don't imagine what these drone pilotes earn. They are the best drone pilotes in Japan and they know that their drones must not crash. They use them especially for their camera shots.
Here's a recommendation: iine! To me, iine! is a song directed to the Babymetal haters who complain about the EDM/electronic and J-POP/idol elements in the bands discography, saying that it makes them "anything BUT metal". So I'd say this specific track celebrates the especial mix of music genres in Babymetal's sound, all while poking fun of people who think they're "not metal at all". Here are the links to the official MV and an older and newer live performance: Official music video: th-cam.com/video/qVdBBOpSoN4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IEzF2kR0lbzszgeC Budokan live performance (2014): th-cam.com/video/S6j1QUcNVYA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qUzMZ-1k9Bi7yOBi PIA Arena live performance (2023): th-cam.com/video/5jt-pLD6qJA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yOGycE0TgRzV107a Obs: sorry if I said something wrong, english is not my first language 😅
We definitely need a Death reaction then “Not so Extensive Guide to Babymetal” or “An Unhelpful Guide to Babymetal” then possibly a reaction to Gimme Chocolate, Iine, Metalizm, Metali, or Meta Taro
SuMetal showing that there are levels to this shit 😂 When you do Doki Doki Morning can you throw in their FIRST live performance of ANY song into it? The one that started it all. And take note of the white t shirt guy in the front row on the right. Cant really see much at first since its dark but when the lights turn on you'll spot him. He is the first The One(what Babymetal calls their fans)member ever. A legend in the Babymetal community. Check out the comments on the video. They're all mostly about him lol th-cam.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HEt7ZGGR1CRNqHP1 Not a great quality video as they don't play the whole song and it's very short but it's definitely a must watch to witness the very beginning of this amazing band.
The 2016 Download version is what started my journey down the Foxhole! 17 year old Su Metal showed her Queen status on that day leading 50k people on a sing a long in the pouring rain! All Hail The Queen 👸🏻
I've got another all-female Japanese band for you to check out. They're called "Nek!" be sure to include the exclamation point. They're similar to Band-Maid and insanely talented. Also, they're incredibly young. Check out their official MV for the song Maze. They started out doing Band-Maid covers.
Another fun, intelligent, genuine reaction. The Download or Drownload Festival is so metal. The girls were determined to go out. All those people had waited through the rain to see them and BM were not going to let them down. Su has soooo much stage presence. The way she gets up there in front of that huge, drenched crowd and just takes command is so amazing. I have to say I haven't heard much from the Metalverse girls in a while. I'm very mixed emotions about them. Always seemed like Amuse was trying to see if lighting would strike twice. But as you intimated. There is only one Queen and we all know who she is. I've put this in several comments sections but I do want to mention again that not all Babymetal guides are created equal. And IMHO the most enjoyable and comprehensive is the following. And you can kind of verify this via comments. It's: The 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘰 Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL (April 1st 2024): th-cam.com/video/aIb2xEthdSg/w-d-xo.html
As a long term kitsune, I am proud of your travel through the metalverse. You are now in the Fox Hole, with no option to return. Now you are part of The One. Love your reactions, Whiskey Prince. But you missed BOH (the bassist) jumping when The Queen said "everybody jump!" because you were refilling your glass 😂.
Haha nice whiskey room! I plan to watch some Babymetal concert BluRays tonight accompanied by some Makers Mark! The doppelgängers are a separate group known as “Metalverse” (totally not confusing… 😂). Another one of Koba’s recent projects. Lead singer is Miko Todaka, and she’s a great vocalist too! Most of them are from the same original Idol group as Babymetal’s origins. Also, for this song being used commercially: Movie OST ❌ WWE: NXT TakeOver 2016 ✅ The song that fans believe to be an unofficial tribute is *Starlight.* Which is more of an unofficial tribute to the passing of Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka in 2018, and perhaps to Yui’s departure later that year as well. Mikio had the black guitar in the Download UK video and in IDZ Sonisphere UK video. Starlight is the 1st of a 3 part “Trilogy of Lights”, followed by Shine, then Arkadia. Fun fact, since you brought up being an “army brat” 😂. Babymetal performed at Futenma Flight Line Fair this year, hosted by the USMC. Nothin’ like a bunch of uniformed USMC boys serving as security for a Babymetal show. In full tactical crayon gear 😂. 🤘🦊
Oh yeah that’s the plan. I’d love to have a cozy set up I their with a glass of something nice. I have a nice sound system in there too! Didn’t mention it’s my favorite place??? Lol
The PIA Arena performance has a special appearance of Metalverse which is Babymetal from another universe.. you should check their song out like Crazy J and Naked Princess
Some people have tried to dimiinish BM's achievements because of their 'manufactured' idol group background, but most of them don't realise that Japanese idol groups' whole business model is based around being able to perform live and building a connection with the fans so they have a reason to keep going to live shows instead of just buying a CD: they think of Western 'manufactured' pop groups who were picked because they have marketable looks and put in a studio where their deficiencies can be masked by production and then they mime to a track on TV and assume that's what BM are. But there's a reason it took more than 2 years for their first album to be released and by that time they were only a month away from performing at the Budokan, because their fanbase was built on the back of grinding out live performances and building a following, and their festival sets are great demonstrations of how they are masters of making a crowd fall in love with them in 40 minutes.
They are manufactured, fans can't deny that. But they are the most organic manufactured act you can possibly get, so we can neutralise the negative connotations the word has and own it, by telling critics the truth about their origins instead of letting the generic assumptions persist. They are more like the Jackson 5 than the spice girls, though they also have the upseting effect on elitists the Sex Pistols had, lol. Koba at Amuse is like Berry Gordy at Motown, but with one huge act (and Metalverse). Saying that, Koba and Babymetal don't really seem to care about misconceptions about them, they are to busy owning the present and planning for the future.
The song you couldn't remember was Monochrome on the First Take YT channel. Scream to clean, you say? Nemophila 'G.O.D.' Hanabie 'We Love Sweets My grandma was born in Okinawa. She immigrated to Hawaii when she was a teenager. My dad served in the Army as well as the Air Force reserve, Coast Guard reserve, AND Navy reserve. TBH, I only watch the OMV and the Download fest. I prefer to hear their older stuff with the original Kami band.
Metalverse is a sister group to Babymetal formed early last year or sometime in 2022 to be more accurate. They represent younger Babymetal from snother reality. The interlude with Su helping Moa and Momo up is moving as scenes that showed Yui played on the big screen. It was like a tribute to all that Yui provided snd meant to Babymetal. If you want to check out some Metalverse, I will recommend Crazy J, jazz metal, and Naked Princess, swing metal. For Babymetal I would recommend Distortion as lore video eluded to it. The MV and Download 2018.
Yeah the channel Fox God got taken down probably because it had entire concerts up on his channel 😅 This was the second time Metalverse appeared: you should really check out the first time they appeared! Check out Makuhari Messe version in 2023!! And remember that noone heard about them before, imagine the confusion of the people seeing them for the first time 😆
28:18 remember, Babymetal comes from some kind of talent school/agency. And they are backed by it all the time. For example they have backup performers from that. You know, just in case some of oryginal trio got ill before important gig. Those girls know lyrics, choreography etc. They are professional in all aspects. So, if they are there - why not give them a chance to shine? BTW :what do you think, how Momoko got into Babymetal? She was in that agency, then was a backup for some time. Then when Yui left she was as one of performers that were filing her place (in rotation) and, in the end was chosen to be a permanent member.
They don't have backup performers to fill in if someone gets ill before a gig, since they performed both nights of LEGEND S with just Su and Moa when Yui was unable to perform. They started using the three supporting dancers in 2019 after Yui officiallly left the group to restore the preferred three person choreography, not because of possible illness. Also Riho Sayashi was the first of the three supporting dancers known an avengers to be introduced, and she's not with Amuse, Inc. and was never a Sakura Gakuin member like Kano and Momoko, the other two avengers.
Thanks for this reaction. My personal believe is this song was made because of the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, when Karate would be introduced as a new sort in the Olympics. missingreel is a username on that platform. Maybe interesting: Babymetal performed a pretty much free concert in Okinawa on Oct. 6 2024 at the Futenma Flightline Fair. This is a family event and there wer a lot of kids in the audience and the show was stopped because some service men were moshing. One thing Su-metal did not do that day is ask for a wall of death like she usually does with Road of Resistance. 15:50 - 15:56 probably the only time I've seen Su-metal some what afraid or worried, because of how wet the floor is and she has different shoes than Yuimetal and Moametal and more slippery when wet and had a hard time dancing. What is always kind of funny in the MV Su-metal helps Yuimetal and Moametal of the ground, but live often she is focused more (planned) on the audience interaction and just let's them lying there. Fans joke Su-metal is a reincarnation of Freddie Mercury, in part because of how comfortable she is on stage/stage presence, how in-tune she can sing and it's hard not to remember the Headbanger half-length microphone stand. Actually Babymetal has performed with some of the members of Queen, as part of a group of acts performing together for the Japanese new year show in 2020. Just look up: endless Rain on the official Queen channel. It was on national Japanese TV and my guess is you can't react to it, other than 'link and sync' (you do a countdown , so we can open an other browser window and start the video at the same time). 19:24 what is actually really impressive, jumping and singing at the same time. Maybe not hard if you plan accordingly, but takes extra training at the very least. I don't know if this is true/the cause, but in 2020 obviously a lot of people in live music left the industry, the term gig-economy comes from this (1910s jazz session musicians), basically everyone is self-employed who goes on tour. Kobametal mentioned something about it in an interview how this was really worrying and I think the festivals in Europe in 2024 ... not so great. They were hit and miss, while in the past Babymetal had surprisingly good sound, far above average for a any band. The "metalverse" act, did 2 or 3 performances like this with Babymetal, the main singer of the group has a VERY similar background as Su-metal. But also a different kind of strengths in her vocals talents. Also she is 2 years younger performing Karate for the first time compared to Su-metal performing Karate for the first time. They got some original songs, but not that active, probably they are still in school. The drone pilot is very experienced and is one of the Japanese representatives at international competitions aka she is really good, channel: Mai Shiraishi FPV Drone
So many good J-Metal, J-Rock and even J-Pop groups to dive in. Top of my list are Nemophila, specially what they have done in the last 6 months, since the lead guitar left the group. Mayu is using a mix of clean and harsh vocals. And then Nek! (pronounced Neki). A young rock punk/pop band, first song last April. Slightly different music style to Band-Maid, but you can hear that they took classes at Kanami's school of music writing. Or you can stay on Babymetal, fine by me too 😃 🦊🤘
Great next step into the Deep, Whiskey-Metal))))) (think it sounds better and more BM-ly). Enjoyed this reaction. Did you notice that "How`re you feeling today?". 17:12 in your video. Every time i hear these soft and gentle words, it fills me with warmth and kindness. And you can see her eyes looking to this crowd as a beloved family. Precious moment for me. Their true love to their fans is one of the important layers of BABYMETAL success (besides the huge talent and mad hardworking ability). And all that grumbling about "gimmick", "factory plant" or "fad" don`t matter anymore.
Ah... Whiskey-metal: Hibiki is good; I am currently enjoying a Taketsuru (Single Malt) This, while having a fireplace running, a Babymetal DVD/Bluray of a concert in my AV, sound turned up and enjoying the evening. 😊 Babymetal Lore: With the third Karate video, you just experienced a small snippet of the vast Metalverse (story arch, not the mirror group, thanks Koba). It spans over the years in so-called Metal Resistance chapters, like Star Wars episodes. Kobametal uses a lot from Star Wars and Marvel (Dr Strange fire rings) and probably many other cultural influences. I recently found a channel "babbimetal", who has among their videos a two parter, trying to explain the lore. It amazed me, that it all started back in, I think, 2014 with their Legend shows and goes on until today. The amount of dedication and, I think, also foresight and trust Kobametal (the producer and main driving force behind Babymetal) shows, is astounishing to me.
BABYMETAL and MetalVerse were both from a training band called Sakura Gakuin. Their drone piolet is some world class drone racing champion, she is good...
Nice reaction! That 2016 version of Download is legendary, and this 2023 version featuring METALVERSE is amazing. When reacting to Doki Doki Morning, don't forget to include the version of BABYMETAL Returns no Makuhari Messe (2023) featuring the same trio.
Don’t forget that there’s plenty of great rock and metal coming out of Japan. Band-Maid and Lovebites are at the top of the list of bands to introduce yourself to. On the harsh/clean vocal side there’s Nemophila, Hanabie, and Maximum the Hormone. For Nemophila, I would suggest “Rise”…MV, official live, and the evolution (4-piece) versions. For Hanabie, “We Love Sweets” and “My Type” MV’s. The only official live video (currently) is for “Pardon Me, I Have To Go”…plus the MV for it…also a great song. Then there is MTH… “A-L-I-E-N” will get you in the deep end pretty quick. Beware, they can be strict with their copyright blocks🤨
I dont know if this was mentioned, when Baby Metal was only Moa and Su, they had a fill in trio named Metalverse, which was comprisednof 3 other girls from the Metal Gaukin, this is the mirror show, both trios mirrored each other on stage.
5:25 "Smelly " move is not for the nose, Su says "Mada mada" which means "not yet" Or like ,"kankaei nai " Doesn't matter". The move in Headbanger is like you are hiding your mouth. Both have nothing to do with smell. It probably is a cultural thing but please let it go. ( Make sense with the lyrics) Glad you are having fun but it has nothing to do with smell. 19:28 you missed Boh on Bass Guitar pouring your drink, please rewatch. You have to watch every second of a live show!
Great reaction. You still have a bit ways to go on their material, but that just comes by watching many of their performances. So glad that you shared this journey with us. The three young ladies on the right in red were the same three robed ladies in the Monochrome First Take video. Miko Todaka is the lead singer, 17 years old at the time of this performance, and about the same age as Su-metal when she first sang the song. The girl on the right is Sakia Kimura (14 years old), and on the left is Kokona Kato (also 14). They are the BM spinoff group called Metalverse. For SG fans, this is the first time five SG graduates appear together in a performance ever since SG's disbandment. Joy!!! One of the drone operators is a world class drone racer, they hire the best.
Thanks for drinking Japanese whiskey! Glad you are enjoying Japanese music and culture! Welcome to “THE ONE”. It's nice to see new people showing up who love what I love! I hope next year will be another good one! From Japan♥ (I used a translator, Sorry for my bad English!)
@@ShadeReactsLive Thanks for the reply! I had a whiskey today myself! I'm glad we can share what we love across the ocean! I have subscribed to your channel, of course! Looking forward to more of your activities in the future! Have a good end of the year!
The gesture of waving your hand in front of your face in the West means "bad smell." In Japan, this same gesture means "No, thank you! Don't worry!" or "No, thank you, you're mistaken!" (a sign of modesty). Interesting!
@@ShadeReactsLive Yes, hahaha. This gesture is usually strange in the West. Babymetal always includes gestures, words, symbols, interjections, symbols that only Japanese people understand. The band Ningen Isu too. It's interesting and fun to decipher.
maaaan!! that whisky room is sweet. we would be best friends. smoking, drinking japanese whisky and listen to japanese bangers. metalverse have som own songs. i could recommend metalverse - crazy j. it have som jazzy feels to it. there is a officiall video from there own side and there is a fan cam video from summer sonic 2023 with questionable quality. on that show they have the kami-band backing them. crazy j is the last song in the video/show.
Might do that over on twitch sometime. I want to check out other versions of songs, but don’t think I need individual YT vids for those if I’ve already done it. But who knows, I could be wrong!
16:40 she sings «mada mada» and it translates as "not yet" in english; usually when japanese people says "mada mada" they do the wave gesture like here in Karate, the one you see looks like "smelly". But for the "smelly" gesture in Headbanger they sing "kierusero" wich means "dissappear from here"; that's truly a smelly gesture and the reason I think they do it it's because the presence of the crybabies the lyrics are relating to it's uncomfortable like they stink.
earlier this year, they put on a show at the Air base in Futenma Koukuu Kichi, Ginowan, Japan, and they went to Okinawa Convention Center, Tenjitou, Ginowan, Japan for the first time at their tour finale. Funny story about Download, after their big breakthrough at Sonisphere, they promoter of Download said they don't belong at Download, so the little ninjas crashed Download 2015 with an invite from Dragonforce, they came on stage with DF as their backing band and played Gimmie Chocolate and to the dismay of the promoter who claimed they would never be there...lol ha ha like he really could resist the outpouring of request for BM to be at Download and here we are in 2016, but the promoter could only sit and cry in his office while counting all of the extra cash that came flowing in because of our little ladies. When the time comes to checkout BM's 1st song ever, definitely checkout the BABYMETAL Returns version of Doki Doki Morning, where these mysterious little ladies appear for the first time to perform DDM in mirror formation to BM, some fans at that show thought there was some kind of magic trick going on.
They didn't perform 'Road of Resistance' at Download 2015 with DragonForce. They performed it with DragonForce at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards show.
English crowds do that a lot, there's a clip of them singing along to a whole Queen song that was just playing in the background before a Green Day concert or in the intermission or something. So combining that with Babymetal's fans and their habit of following the songs so well, it was bound to be like this!
Great reactions...once again, Shade! I have been away from the home base (my PC, lol), and I have been checking out your Babymetal binge watching (love the format by the way), but I don't login on my phone...so comments or likes (or Subs, that has been addressed)! Keep the same format, if possible, for some of the other songs... "DEATH" included. The Legend 1997 concert is a MUST see, but the PIA Arena one is also fire. Regardless...once you settle into reacting to other bands for a spell, I will request my favorite Babymetal song. Oh, love the Whiskey room (having a SHANE Irish Whiskey at he moment), and it would be a good reaction venue! Though I do miss your dog (that I have named "Flash", for his energetic behavior, lol) in your last couple...though a nice cameo in the Whiskey room!
If you like a mix of harsh and clean vocals, you'll love Nemophila, the best Japanese metal girl band imo, elite musicians all of them, I'd go with Dissention orignal music video ( original version, american one is very dark and there is little to see, in the original you can admire their beauty and their instruments skills clearly ;) while half of the lyrics are in english anyway and there are subtitles available. It's not their best one, but one of the better ones and it slaps hard.
Just to give you an idea of the Download Festival the line-up that year included - Rammstein, Black Sabbath , Iron Maiden, Korn, Deftones, All Time Low, Nightwish, Disturbed, Architects, Jane’s Addiction, Disturbed, Halestorm, Twin Atlantic , Megadeth AND Babymetal !
My day is end and this is the best way. The number 2 in my top of Babymetal. Absolutely amazing! Great, great react again Kitsune! Definitely you need watch my number 1: Syncopation live, believe me is Perfect! See you! 🤟🦊🔥🔥🔥🇯🇵
The "guests" performing with Babymetal are known as *Metalverse,* although at this time they hadn't been officially named yet, and fans were generally referring to them as "Chibimetal". There was a lot of speculation about what this could mean, and if maybe this was a sign that Babymetal might eventually be replaced by these younger girls. But that was never the idea. As far as I can tell, Metalverse was an Amuse invention intended as a launch vehicle for lead singer *Miko Todaka.* They figured they could copy the Babymetal concept and get some free publicity. But Metalverse are very different from Babymetal, and personally I consider them a manifestation of all that Babymetal has been falsely accused of being; a cynical boardroom construction and a gimmick, created to make money, not good music. There is in fact very little metal in Metalverse. The music is just plain pop with some occasional double bass drums, but without any of the heart or innovation that Babymetal brought to the table. Not saying that the girls in Metalverse are not talented though - they clearly are. I just find the music completely uninteresting. The only good thing I can really say about Metalverse is that they chose _Asterism_ for their backing band when they performed live at Fox Fest earlier this year. You really need to check out Asterism at some point, as they are my favorite band out of Japan. But they are not that well unknown and won't get you many views, so maybe do groups like _Maximum the Hormone, Band-Maid, Lovebites_ and even _Hanabie_ first. You still have a lot of amazing Babymetal music to get through though, with some of the highlights being: - *Akatsuki* - A Su-metal solo that has been performed in two very different versions (the _Unfinished version_ from Legend 1997, which was performed between _Headbanger_ and _Babymetal Death,_ as well as the metal version, where I would suggest the one from Budokan Black Night, 2015) - *Rondo of Nightmare* - Another Su-metal solo with an amazing intro from the Eastern Kami Band called "mischief of the metal gods". - *Doki Doki Morning* - Babymetal's very first single, recorded back in 2010. The perfect blend of cute and heavy that started their careers. - *Tales of the Destinies* - An homage to Dream Theater, only ever played live once, and the only song that Su has said made her nervous to perform. - *The One* - Originally part of _Tales of the Destinies,_ but eventually split off into its own song. A song literally for the fans. - *Yava* - Ska metal, also available with a great Kami Band intro (with a great solo from Mikio Fujioka). - *Starlight, Shine* and *Arkadia* - The trilogy of light. 3 songs released soon after the death of Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka. The world is a lesser place without him, and the fans regard these three songs to be about dealing with the loss. - *Sis Anger* - Moa and Yui do death metal, without Su. - *iine* - I spelled it in all lower case so that you can see the initial "i". It's "ee-neh", not "line". A good song to play when you think you've heard it all :-)
I think Metalverse is Koba's idea and is produced by him. There are a few other possible reasons why they may have been created: They can record past unreleased, unfinished Babymetal songs, or use songs that don't fit Babymetals style anymore. They can become active when Babymetal have a hiatus or break, acting as a diversion for people who want it. Metalverse are still a mystery even after 2 years and we know Koba likes to subvert people's expectations. I mean babymetal stared out with Doki and iine, but then came out with Headbanger and Megitsune, so anything is possible in the future.
Owh yeah.. one of my favorite songs🥋🥋 Recently Babymetal performed in Okinawa,You should go check it out "Metali" in Babymetal legend-43 the movie 2024. And I suggest 3 versions for Ratatata, MV, live at Fox Fest, live at Rock am ring/ Resurrection Fest(electric callboy setlist). Great reaction!🤘🦊
The 3 girls are Metalverse, a Babymetal "spinoff". The lead singer Miko Todaka is indeed a wonderful vocalist. Metalverse is much younger, 14-16, and comes from more or less the same background as Babymetal. Metalverse is an Amuse/Koba project.
So was just looking and as I know quite a few had people had mentioned it in the last video, looks like the live version of Tales of the Destinies was only uploaded to For The Fox God's channel. However, there is still a way that you could view it, which I can link if you want it. Just the visual quality won't be quite as good, audio sounds fine for it though.
Another great reaction! And looking forward to the next two you've listed. Both are great experiences. And a shame about For the Fox God...my guess is they got hit for uploading the Legend 43 stuff since that just released. It also wasn't a reaction channel, just an upload spot, so no fair-use defense. Hopefully it can come back though, I really appreciated the translations there.
Skip to @0:48 for the begging of the reaction! 🦊
Nah, we don't skip your videos man. 🔥 🦊 🤘
Won't!🧐
Hey, try listening to Black Babymetal Sis Anger
Nope, enjoyed the extra intro, bring it on!
No 😜
so...not specificalluy related to Karate, but fun fact: In Japan, it's considered impolite to go to a concert and sing along with the vocalist.
👍👍👍Awesome performances. The MV is very special to me as it was my introduction to the wonderful world of BABYMETAL. It has a great message. 🦊🦊🦊 🖖❤
You've stumbled on the Metalverse. 🤣
That's literally what the other group is called. Definitely not confusing at all. 🤣
It's okay to say Su is better here since she has more experience.
(A different version of the song that debuted on their 10th anniversary.)

Hey there, whiskey-metal . I don’t usually comment, but you are doing a really good job. Thank you for what seems to be a very honest reaction. And I think the way you are doing it is the best way. Cheers.
Thank you 🙏 I’m doing my best 🥃🦊🤘
Hahah I love the whiskey story! Woodford is the whiskey that got me into all of it about 8 years ago. Now I spend WAY to much money on whiskey 😂🦊🥃
Don't worry, nobody is not confused by Metalverse.
I'd prefer to hang out in the whiskey room, too. Holy shit, dude.
You're going to love Electric Callboy. Clean to harsh and back again is their shtick. 🤘🦊🤘
🥃🦊🤘
It’s just so audibly pleasing to me lol
Here's another recommendation: METALI!
A super cool song that mixes traditional japanese musical elements with Tom Morello's amazing guitarist skills!
Since this track is more recent there is no older performance videos for it, so I'll share something different and unusual.
In the third video linked below there is the full live performance from Babymetal's first show ever in Brazil (METALI! performance starts at 16:02). Brazilian crowds are known for their outstanding energy and for singing along every lyric, even if they don't know the language lol
I'm also recommending this so you can see how good the band and the girls are even in a smaller venue and without the flashy light shows and professional post production recording.
Other than that, it's just really fun to see the girls reactions to the crowds excitement and constant chanting, something they're not as used to, since most fans from other countries only sing along Moa's and Momo's/Yui's chants and not the entire song.

I love the whisky room! The chairs look so comfy and the booze looks...like I'd be passed out in one of those chairs before too long.
My father in law did exactly that when he visited a few months back! Haha
In this case, the gesture that Suzuka makes with her hand when saying "MADA, MADA" (Not yet Not yet) is a sign of denial or saying "No".
Great triple reaction...again.Thanks! And nice drinking room. I salute you, sir. 🫡
"Karate" is on their poppier side in my opinion BUT that main riff comes out from nowhere and hits you like a bus.
Great you discovered METALVERSE, another group formed by Kobametal.
I freaked out when I knew they were flying a drones inside a crowded venue, haha... The drone pilot is Mai Shiraishi. She's a Japanese representative for world drone racing championship. I believe they are in good hands.
See you!! 🤣
🤘🦊
The official Karate Video is what got me i to babymetal.. and is my favorite song/video.
They got you good, didn't they ?
lol
All good.
Happy to be here! I’ll dig into that soon. There’s still some songs on my list I need to hear first and the anticipation is killing me. lol
Suzuka Nakamoto is another level from anyone! Love it that you do different versions of the tunes
Another great reaction video Whiskey Prince! lol Sad to hear For the Fox God's YT channel has been taken down.
The drone pilot... There is a drone racing world competition with a strong Japanese team, and AFAIK the pilot in the PIA arena was namaikicastle, she is one of the bests not just in Japan but in the world. Koba doesn't hire amateurs.
That's Mai Shiraishi.
She definitely knows what she's doing.
The drone shots for 'BABYMETAL Death' at PIA Arena are epic.
During that festival su kept looking off to the side and smiling. There was a giant ferris wheel that reminded her of the one her family used to take her and her sister to when they were little.
As good as the MV is,it always kicks harder live and always get great crowd interaction from Suzuka ❤🔥🦊
Surely Doki Doki Morning is next. That's where it all started. Start with the original video. And the PIA Arena performance also has the special guest.
Haha, if you’re gonna suggest Doki Doki Morning, gotta include the Nov 2010 Sakura Gakuin debut performance!
@@Ganimal83 The only reason I didn't was because I wasn't sure if a full version was currently on TH-cam.
@@66zoot I don’t think there is, but no big deal, a nice heartwarming abridged 2 mins! 😆🤘🤣
@66zoot unfortunately there is no full version all we have is what's stripped from the Sakura Gakuin 2010-2011 Sun documentary
Should I do that before I do the guide reaction?
Can't wait for you to react to the Babymetal Guide
I have been into whiskey for almost a decade now! 🥃🦊🤘
I don't think it was used in a movie, but a Japanese WWE wrestler used it for her theme song when entering the ring.
Wait really??? That’s badass. I’m going to check that out (not reaction video, but I need to see it)
In Tokyo Olympics too, at Budokan Arena, as background music between a fight and another, I don't remember which discipline of martial arts
And it was used in one episode of the Netflix series "Altered Carbon".

Ossu !! Ossu !!
Drownload 2016 is the best !
For me the difference from the MV to the live ones of this song is that the MV is catchy and heavy where you can just headbang while the live ones are more emotional because of the additional intro and the extended bridge where they fall down and get back up where they interact with the crowd then proceeding to the last chorus...gets me everytime🤘🥺
Another great reaction🦊🔥
Again😅 please do No rain, No rainbow live at Legend S Baptism XX
Never been happier to be wrong about how “interactive” this song would be while watching the MV
Thank you for including the Download performance. Karate is one of my fav BM songs, and Download is my fav Karate performance. 🦊🦊🦊
You don't imagine what these drone pilotes earn. They are the best drone pilotes in Japan and they know that their drones must not crash. They use them especially for their camera shots.
That chill whisky room is so nice!
🦊🥃🤘
Here's a recommendation: iine!
To me, iine! is a song directed to the Babymetal haters who complain about the EDM/electronic and J-POP/idol elements in the bands discography, saying that it makes them "anything BUT metal".
So I'd say this specific track celebrates the especial mix of music genres in Babymetal's sound, all while poking fun of people who think they're "not metal at all".
Here are the links to the official MV and an older and newer live performance:

Obs: sorry if I said something wrong, english is not my first language 😅
iine is definitely one of my favorite Babymetal songs! Hope he checks it out soon!
Is that the same at Line? I’ve seen that recommended a few times. But I could be wrong
@@ShadeReactsLive There is no Line, it is IINE with two i's, and can be confusing indeed (90% of the reactors fall for it)
@ yes! it’s “iine” not “Line” just looks like Line when it has a capital “i” in the title so it confused some people at first lol
@ ahh I probably saw it capitalized and thought the “I” was a lowercase “L”
Download is still my favourite version . you also relise how tiny Su is when she stands on the platform to interact with the crowd . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
We definitely need a Death reaction then “Not so Extensive Guide to Babymetal” or “An Unhelpful Guide to Babymetal” then possibly a reaction to Gimme Chocolate, Iine, Metalizm, Metali, or Meta Taro
Karate performed with METALVERSE at on Day 2 of the BABYMETAL Begins concerts held at PIA Arena MM in April of 2023
Btw the girls recorded commentary over the mvs for "Doki doki morning", "Iine", "IDZ" and "Megitsune". They are definitely worth checking out. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
SuMetal showing that there are levels to this shit 😂
When you do Doki Doki Morning can you throw in their FIRST live performance of ANY song into it? The one that started it all. And take note of the white t shirt guy in the front row on the right. Cant really see much at first since its dark but when the lights turn on you'll spot him. He is the first The One(what Babymetal calls their fans)member ever. A legend in the Babymetal community. Check out the comments on the video. They're all mostly about him lol
th-cam.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HEt7ZGGR1CRNqHP1
Not a great quality video as they don't play the whole song and it's very short but it's definitely a must watch to witness the very beginning of this amazing band.
Oh yes! That’s a must watch. Thanks for the recommendation
This song was my intro to BM back in 2016
you are doing great keep it up
The 2016 Download version is what started my journey down the Foxhole!
HECK YEAH 3 IN 1 AGAIN LET'S GOOO
Sorry 😂
That's probably their most 'radio friendly' song.
Great way to put it
Haha nice whiskey room!
Also, for this song being used commercially:
Movie OST ❌
WWE: NXT TakeOver 2016 ✅
The song that fans believe to be an unofficial tribute is *Starlight.* Which is more of an unofficial tribute to the passing of Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka in 2018, and perhaps to Yui’s departure later that year as well.
Lol
@ Bro, that would be my favorite spot to chill too, if I had a whiskey room! Cheers! 🥃
Nemophila 'G.O.D.'
Hanabie 'We Love Sweets
My grandma was born in Okinawa.
Yeah the channel Fox God got taken down probably because it had entire concerts up on his channel 😅
This was the second time Metalverse appeared: you should really check out the first time they appeared!
Or you can stay on Babymetal, fine by me too 😃
🦊🤘
The doggo.
I loved it all man! Such a cool performance
The hand waving in front of the face seems to mean no-no or uh-uh instead or referring to smell from what I gather.
Ah... Whiskey-metal: Hibiki is good; I am currently enjoying a Taketsuru (Single Malt)
This, while having a fireplace running, a Babymetal DVD/Bluray of a concert in my AV, sound turned up and enjoying the evening. 😊
Babymetal Lore:
With the third Karate video, you just experienced a small snippet of the vast Metalverse (story arch, not the mirror group, thanks Koba).
See?! That’s why I want to record in there! Haha
Also agree, the amount of trust put into koba is incredible
BABYMETAL and MetalVerse were both from a training band called Sakura Gakuin. Their drone piolet is some world class drone racing champion, she is good...
Su comes in on that second verse and just says with her voice, Girls this is how it’s done!
Nice reaction! That 2016 version of Download is legendary, and this 2023 version featuring METALVERSE is amazing.
When reacting to Doki Doki Morning, don't forget to include the version of BABYMETAL Returns no Makuhari Messe (2023) featuring the same trio.
That’s a sweet whiskey room brotha! Nicely set up
Thank you! 🦊🥃🤘
まだまだ "Mada mada" means "not yet". The "smelly" hand movement is a Japanese gesture that ALSO means "not" or "not yet".
The most adorable UNS! ever heard by man. 🤘🦊🤘
I dont know if this was mentioned, when Baby Metal was only Moa and Su, they had a fill in trio named Metalverse, which was comprisednof 3 other girls from the Metal Gaukin, this is the mirror show, both trios mirrored each other on stage.
Hibiki Harmony is my favorite whiskey to drink straight up, no ice, no mixer. 👨🍳 💋
Always with a single malt whiskey 🥃
5:25 "Smelly " move is not for the nose, Su says "Mada mada" which means "not yet" Or like ,"kankaei nai " Doesn't matter". The move in Headbanger is like you are hiding your mouth. Both have nothing to do with smell. It probably is a cultural thing but please let it go. ( Make sense with the lyrics) Glad you are having fun but it has nothing to do with smell.
19:28 you missed Boh on Bass Guitar pouring your drink, please rewatch. You have to watch every second of a live show!
Every second.Moments and details.
I rewatched thanks to some comments pointing this out!
@@ShadeReactsLive Awesome! The guide vid will fill in a lot.
Счастливого Рождества! Отличное видео. 🤠🤘
Merry Christmas to you too!
If you're doing Ratatata, I would bet money that you'll start a series of reactions to Electric Callboy next. 😁
Doing Ratatata today!
From Japan♥
(I used a translator, Sorry for my bad English!)
I love the culture and apparently now I also love the music!
@@ShadeReactsLive Thanks for the reply! I had a whiskey today myself! I'm glad we can share what we love across the ocean! I have subscribed to your channel, of course!
Looking forward to more of your activities in the future! Have a good end of the year!
🤘🤘🤘🦊🦊🦊👊👊👊
The gesture of waving your hand in front of your face in the West means "bad smell." In Japan, this same gesture means "No, thank you! Don't worry!" or "No, thank you, you're mistaken!" (a sign of modesty). Interesting!
@marcoskazu_ really? That makes more sense in context to this song haha
It’s my favorite place in my house haha
Great reaction. Even though you have watched Headbangya! , you should see the PIA Arena with Metalverse.
But for the "smelly" gesture in Headbanger they sing "kierusero" wich means "dissappear from here"; that's truly a smelly gesture and the reason I think they do it it's because the presence of the crybabies the lyrics are relating to it's uncomfortable like they stink.
ahhhh thanks for the clarification!
earlier this year, they put on a show at the Air base in Futenma Koukuu Kichi, Ginowan, Japan, and they went to Okinawa Convention Center, Tenjitou, Ginowan, Japan for the first time at their tour finale.
@@rickwagner- oops, thanks Rick-Metal
Recommend Syncopation (my personal favorite) and Arkadia, both great songs! 😃
What a lineup!
For more Metalverse confusion...watch Doki Doki morning (first the MV which is great obsviously) live at makuhari 2023 ;)

You still have a lot of amazing Babymetal music to get through though, with some of the highlights being:
- *Akatsuki* - A Su-metal solo that has been performed in two very different versions (the _Unfinished version_ from Legend 1997, which was performed between _Headbanger_ and _Babymetal Death,_ as well as the metal version, where I would suggest the one from Budokan Black Night, 2015)
- *Rondo of Nightmare* - Another Su-metal solo with an amazing intro from the Eastern Kami Band called "mischief of the metal gods".
There are a few other possible reasons why they may have been created:
They can record past unreleased, unfinished Babymetal songs, or use songs that don't fit Babymetals style anymore.
Owh yeah.. one of my favorite songs🥋🥋
Recently Babymetal performed in Okinawa,You should go check it out "Metali" in Babymetal legend-43 the movie 2024.
And I suggest 3 versions for Ratatata, MV, live at Fox Fest, live at Rock am ring/ Resurrection Fest(electric callboy setlist).
Great reaction!🤘🦊
Monochrome was the video
That’s it!! So many videos over the last few days. Thank you!
❤️🔥🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼❤️🔥
The 3 girls are Metalverse, a Babymetal "spinoff". The lead singer Miko Todaka is indeed a wonderful vocalist. Metalverse is much younger, 14-16, and comes from more or less the same background as Babymetal. Metalverse is an Amuse/Koba project.
They sounded great!
A score for the WWE actually.
