He's a wonderful man. I've been invited to to his home on several occassions. Whenever I'm in Philly I know I can drop by his home and be invited in and given the tour. And, he's given me excellent advice on collecting (I'm a collectro as well) and he's given me pieces from his collection.
What better place to be than a great toy store? I remember the vintage toys from the 1950's sold in department and discount stores. Those were the best with American Flyer trains, Marx, Mattel and Gilbert toys. Slot car racing sets and cap guns.
I loved my toys . I was born in the 70’s and I can still describe all of the details of each of them and some of their names . I had a grand daughter and got into buying some of the vintage toys from the 70’s and 80’s so she could play with snd when I would get them they would take me back to my childhood. I started showing my mom vintage toys from her era and it really made her happy . She started getting Alzheimer’s recently so it’s nice for her to remember and have that childlike joy. I’m hoping to find the doll she had in the 40’s. It really is exciting for me. Maybe not everyone feels that way.

We're not rich, we can't simply go out and buy vast amounts of collectibles at once or, sometimes, not at all. We build our collection one or maybe two pieces at a time. Building a collection does not happen overnight and it doesn't require tons of money, just wise decisions in terms of what you purchase.] I have a very large collection as well, but it wasn't until I got the opportunity to see Mr. Ronald Toby's amazing collection, in person, and listen to his words of wisdom did I understand how people felt when they would see my collection. I was in absolute awe being in his home and getting a personal tour of each room. German Boy, he is a great guy, our meeting was accidental, but it was one of the most amazing and unforgettable moments of my life. Whenever I go to Philadelphia, I make it a point to visit him, out of respect and as a friend.

My collection much smaller but I primarily focus on toys I actually had as a child and managed to keep or toys I lost and replaced. To me it is very therapeutic to reflect back to my Childhood and walking into my special room does this. Thanks again and happy collecting!!!

I just found it funny that everyone was like "he's happy that's all that matters", but when it came to the guy collecting dolls everyone was judging him because he was a gay man collecting dolls. So I commented on what I thought about it. If you didn't like my comment you didn't need to reply, I really don't care and I stand by what I said.
Me and this man have had many of the same friends and associates for 25+ years though we've never officially been introduced...just heard about each other. Cool collection!

@Matthew Familia how do you lose it all unless you very stupidly decide to sell after the drop? And the stock market dropped 35% in 2009 so unless you were again invested in only a couple of individual stocks of companies that went bankrupt I don't see how you could possibly lose it all. In any case if you invested in 2008 in stocks and just didn't panick and let your money grow you would have 4 times your investment now. Not bad at all.
Its nice to collect things. I have a stressful job and collecting toys helps me stay young. I sell off some from time to time so i do not get over loaded.
