@@DannycageGhostrider it appears that you are a bit biased. And also an expert on Gujarat. May I know wherefrom you collected information about Gujarat that Gujaratis r not skilled, alcohol prohibition is a stumble in development of dholera. All types of construction are undertaken by big contractors. They will employ workers to get it completed. So many constructions are going on in Gujarat . Has it been delayed due to alcohol prohibition? It takes time to construct a green field city or any greenfield project. Moreover it's going to be a planned city. I repeat it's a planned city. It is planned, not plant city. You should use words properly. You don't know difference between planned and plant. Without knowing this, you are offering your comments only on alcohol. আপনি কি দক্ষিণ 24 পরগনার, নাকি উত্তর 24 পরগনার লোক।

Cities are built over centuries. Even considering that planned cities might have better design and hence fast paced construction, the pace is still much slower. Best example is Shenzhen of China, planned and started construction in 80s, boomed to the current stage in 2010s. It took several decades to construct to what Shenzhen even for China, where for infrastructure development, all rules are broken. If Dholera is not failed city, as they are in starting stages, then why biased to other city projects like Amaravati in Andra pradesh ,and called them failed.Yes their are corruption allegation but city not trash, tenders are revised and floated again and construction begun again.Their are actual investment on ground from instituation not like Dholera where only Mou and speeches happen but very few one come.Their is nothing in dholera ,yes GIFT city is good initiative but it also was affected by IL&FS scam, and becoming white elephant if not active action taken by government.

Not being near to any major city is a major advantage as well as a major disadvantage for Dholera. The initial growth in these cities will be slower when compared to satellite cities. However, majority of satellite cities, are dependent on the main city for a long time. This includes cities like Noida, Gurugram (Delhi), CBD, Navi Mumbai (Mumbai). Dholera wont have this stage and hence, it will have all the infrastructure required from day 1 unlike cities like Noida, Gurugram, which dont have international airport even today. In the other side Dholera will have an international airport from day 1. The international airpoerts are upcoming projects for both Noida and Navi Mumbai. They got their own airport after a long period of time.

    Few lacking points dholera has
    1. Not in proximity with the major cities
    2. No skilled workforce within 100sqkm area.
    3. Not so close with the natural ports/major ports
    4. Not so colse with the international airport
    5. Land is not that favorable. Suitable for salt panes.
6.No major technical universities, Housing societies, and other infrastructures are established near
    Dholera.
7.Since Gujrat is a dry state young workforce is not so in favour to settle here.
Still there's a chance for the improvement.

Gujarat has reached a saturation state unless it doesn't open up its cultural barriers, it will not develop. I stayed for around 10 months in Ahmedabad and really got bored and I am Gujarati from Mumbai. The problems I observed is It's difficult for non-vegetarian to find house, lack of public transport throughout city, BRTS is still available only in city centre , no alcohol lack of party culture, also the weather except for 4 months of winter rest 8months are very hot. Gujarat is good for someone working in manufacturing sector but for IT and Banking people will work for a year or 2 and move out.

Dholera is totally a failed project 🤦‍♂
All planned cities in India EXCEPT Chandigarh were ALL either satellite towns of already big metros (Delhi NCR, Navi Mumbai etc) or coal/steel towns (Jamshedpur, Bhillai etc).
Chandigarh was lucky as it was pet project of Nehru and built by central govt and NOT state govt and then got even more funded cuz it was declared capital of not just one but two states (Punjab & Haryana).
Dholera is just a big big failure and even Jagan Reddy dodged a bullet for Andhra by scraping the plan to build new capital city from scratch..
Even bigger problem faced by Dholera or GIFT city is the fact that Gujarat already is saturated with decently built big cities (by Indian standards, not international) like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot & Bhavnagar.. so companies don't have any at all incentive to relocate to total no-man-land in middle of farms far from any urban center.

China realised thier mistake and then started developing existing cities and making satellite cities closer to big cities because satellite cities can use the existing infrastructure of big cities... That is the reason why satellite cities take so less time to develop... Example... Kolkata newtown, navi mumbai, noida and gurgaon.... Plus because of satellite cities the bigger cities gets breathing space.... We all know how vedanta-Foxconn was forced to move out of maharashtra to gujrat because of coming gujrat elections... I think problem lies here- there is no big company here. If they can get offices of big companies like upcoming semiconductor factory, more such offices will come for sure. Otherwise the progress will become slow. Although development will happen for sure.

Now that I’ve seen few other projects in different countries I can say that we are hella slow and I mean hella slow… Saudi is building a resort on island, and on a mountain, including the line they are all set to complete this decade. The resort is said to be completed next year, the the mountain somewhere near 2026 or 27 and the line by 2030 which is all less then a decade, and it took india 10 years and still on going to complete 5% of the project, I wonder when the 95% would be built if we are taking so long on just small projects.
We say Dubai wasn’t built in 5 years but back then we didn’t have the technology and skills we have now. That time they didn’t even have internet but they do now, we have technology, and skills we aren’t in that same era anymore yet we are building as if we are still in that old era.
In this gen we have machines that can lay bricks and everything itself and yet we use man power to lay them one at a time. All this takes too much time and money, bring more technology in the work.
