I’m absolutely loving this series and this region as a whole. One thing that I love about Pokémon are the (usually) well fleshed out and memorable characters, and your Gym leaders are all amazing in my opinion. I especially like the first trio, with Pike being mh favorite out of all of them. Well done to you for these ideas and to all the artists for bringing them to life.
I LOVE the diversity and representation. It's so important for people to see themselves reflected in all kinds of media. I love the entire region obviously, but the representation was really exciting.
I’m so happy to see more diversity in gym leaders, it makes me feel a lot better abt my own appalachian/scottish fakemon thing’s first gym being a gay couple 😅
& for anyone curious it’s Appalachian/Scottish bc the highlands and the appalachias were once the same mountain range, which is really funny bc my mom’s from Appalachia and my dad’s from Scotland haha The cultures are really similar, at least in my family, so it’s been fun to combine them into pokemon concepts!
Wonderful take on representation. Pokémon is all about traveling, meeting new people and creatures. We've been all over the world with the regions. Diversity *is* something that belongs in Pokémon, since it is something that is *everywhere*
i love jasper's design sooo much! the curly hair, the beard, the outfit??? they look amazing also harper doesnt only give you aerial ace bc she is an aerial ace, she's an aro-ace aero ace! i love that!
Just wondering here and knowing your diversity themes with some of the Gym Leaders, but is Maxwell an amputee? Or did the artist that made him not include the left hand due to a reason that I'm not aware of.
@CroneoRegion He was born without one or did he lose it in an accident? I think both ideas are good, but something tells me you're going to go for the congenital disability backstory when I think losing his hand in an accident is better for drama. Either way, it shows that those who don't have all their limbs are people too.
Cool video, the characters are cute too! But I still have the feeling that it's as if the personalities of the characters are built only on their features. Perhaps this is correct if the main theme of the game is representation, but I don't know, personally I don't really like it. Although it is interestingly shown with the grass gym leader. My favorite gym leader is probably electric because he looks like one of my characters.
Thanks for the comment, so I'll try to explain a bit further. I'd say the only ones that are built on their features are Ant and Lily, but their personalities are distinctive too as a result. But I don't see how someone like Sonny for example has his whole personality surround his hearing aid, since he's a cocky golfer, or how my tangent about Jasper overtakes how they are a palaeontologist. Unless the golf and palaeontology are the features you're on about? If I've misinterpreted your comment at all, feel free to clarify, would love to hear back.
@@CroneoRegionI think that my strange feeling about the characters is simply related to my worldview, etc. As if the characters without their own characteristics will become second-rate, this is especially true for the golfer. Well, he looks very much like Gary, and if you take away his club and auxiliary equipment, then he will become him. I could speak out about each character, but I don't think it's very convenient in the TH-cam comments and I'm afraid to say something that might disappoint or offend someone. If anything, I didn't mean to offend you, I'm sorry if that.
Well I don't know what your worldview is lol, plus Sonny looking a bit like Blue is intentional, mainly to act as short hand for his personality. I also don't see why you're saying they don't have their own characteristics because they all have unique personalities as I explain them in the video.
I have so Many ideas about a new region for pokemon about my country, mexico, The concept for the game, gym leaders, pokemon and regional forms, but, i never encorage to draw it or something, i think, that, if my region was in a game, would be an excelent oportunity to traslate the oficial games to latinoamerican spanish, because, mexico.., the game would tell a story with the pros and cons of mexico, and tradicions., i think i will draw it😊
The way I kicked my feet and giggled after hearing Jasper was gender-fluid. It feels so good to be represented in some media, even if it’s not a mainstream game. Fan games are much better at handling representation, and this truly shows it.
I love your region but i'm little confused with all that representation. If Ant is transgender does that mean he used to be female? That's quite a transformation if that's the case. Or does he/she (idk) feels like a female? Besides I love Anastazja's design! Also Exbray (idk if I've written that correctly) art style seems a little outdated or out of place so I hope there will be an update which will fresh up his render! :D
I like you kind of representation. I hate when characters are put in and it is clear that the representation is the only real character trait they have. Makes them feel forced, like the creators just wanted to check off a box.
Really digging this line-up of Gym Leaders, even if admittedly the focus on gender identity is a little heavy-handed for my taste. Charlotte, Lily, Brooke and Harper are really cool and the Quick Balls on Maxwell are a nice touch.
@@CroneoRegion It's not them existing, don't get me wrong, I think it's mostly just the presentation. A lot of time is spent on it, making it seem like their entire character, when in reality that's just an incidental detail, you know what I mean?
I don't think I spent too much time on Fig specifically, just more of a "hey, I know I'm doing this, I don't care what you think" and with Jasper, it was more commenting on something I've noticed in the community, and trying to educate people more on the subject. I tried to keep it as limited as I could. I hope the explanations are good at least.
oh i love these guys. probably some of my favourite fan-made gym leaders. i’m particularly fond of ant, as a bug type enthusiast and a trans man myself.
@@CroneoRegion also, it has a paintbrush tail, so it kinda has a paint theme going on (unintentional but works) Prideon has a 50/50 split gender ratio. also, the bootleg starters represent The Good, the Bad, and the ugly in these ways: Occat represents The Bad by being based on witches, Falcoath represents The Good by being based on a myth abut messengers of divine, and Calcifera represents The Ugly by being terrified of coming out of its shell.
Prideon has nothing to do with the starters lol. The paintbrush was intentional, but a minor element that came about due to the colours which were there in the first place because *it's about pride which is the central concept*. The choice to add it onto Sonny's team due to its strength. Heck, I decided to not put it on his main team due to it not fitting that well due to representation. It fits better than Psymon on Pike's team
I felt so bad after I figured out that the electric gym leaders hand is gone and not just the the person who drew it forgetting the hand
Some people just have one hand
I saw someone that had one arm and hand that was really tiny.
Omg Harper is the Aro-Ace Aero Ace.
As well as a bird-weilder who shares her name with Harper Lee, author of To Kill A Mockingbird- a book with the justice-bringing family, the Finches.

Good job on all of them, especially for continuing the trend of Poison type specialists being objectively awesome
Ooh gym leaders, been waiting for this one! So far loving this!

It's neat seeing how diverse fanon Gym Leaders can be, nice work all over!

No idea if this is bias but Lily’s 100% my favorite.

he only has one hand and that was intentional. I wanted to leave it vague if it was from birth or in an accident. as a result I forgot to bring it up
Sometimes you lose the mental battle to name yourself Ant 😢 It's nice to feel seen!!!
Maybe it's the red hair but Harper reminds me of Bloom from Winx Club.
