    Walmart reached out three months ago asking if we wanted to review their new non-motorized treadmill. I was intrigued. One, because it was Walmart. Two, because it was going to be cheap.
    I've tested and reviewed pretty much every curved treadmill on the market from TrueForm to the Assault AirRunner, but the biggest hurdle for getting more of these into home gyms is the price. The Tru Grit changes that.
    The question is, sure, it's cheap. But, is it good?
    Today, I answer that.

      It's likely a supply and demand issue. They're still mostly a niche product, so they have to be overpriced due to low volume.
      They'll likely come down a lot in price if they get popular enough to challenge traditional treadmills in popularity.
      There's two technogym skillmill ones at my local gym, and I'm the only one I've ever seen using them.

    Coop-love your reviews but that is a classic Coop--"just" pay another thousand bucks more." The difference between $2k and $3k is a lot of for a lot of us, especially respecting cardio machines, which are kind of an add on to the iron. I have a Concept2 Model D, but have to admit I would like one of these. I have no interest in motorized treads, but this kind of thing is appealing.

    • @pkvalsvik
      @pkvalsvik 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@dvddttmr I guess it's still a rather "new" product and riding this niche wave still allows them to up the price by a lot. Engines and the whole assembly of most cheaper end treadmills are ridiculously cheap, so yes, they will always be a LOT cheaper... But at the same time, if the ungodly price that the most of these can be defended are questionable. Taking away the cost of the parts, the experience of running on one curved treadmill vs a cheaper straight one is worth a lot... But I am still sitting on the fence to see when the prices comes down to more humane levels

Anything that you’d specifically recommend I look at? Thanks!

      @@bigamemphis10 I can give you an update. I actually ordered 2 of them. The first one came damaged and was sent back. The second one came undamaged. I’m still awaiting the replacement for the first delivery. I can give you that story if you want it. Customer service has been very good when I call. Getting to the operation of it. I have used it a couple of times and I’m very happy with the operation. The monitor is very basic but for me it’s fine. It’s a large treadmill and sturdy. Unlike some reviews. I really like the magnetic resistance. On the hardest setting it feels like a light sled push or an uphill climb and it’s actually pretty rough. I like to run for a few minutes and then increase the resistance for a couple of minutes to mimic a sled push. You actually need to hold the rails to push the belt on the higher resistance. The stickers are pretty cheap but that doesn’t bother me. I didn’t think it was too loud when running on it. But I didn’t go over 8 mph. With the deals and discounts I ordered two for 2,900. Overall I really like it.

    After trying an Assault Runner, this Trugrit thing is pretty obviously a cheap Chinese knock off. The belt doesn’t move like it should, the speed reading is WAY off, the screen is canted down so you can’t see it. The metal uprights SHOCK you every time you touch them which is why Assault Runner covers theirs in plastic. Everything is poorly done here.

    I have a motorized tread that I use to do speedwork on and I get tired of the feeling of having to "keep up" with the belt and was hoping that a non motorized would be a bit more realistic when it comes to running fast. Im not concerned with "bells and whistles" I just want to jump on and run hard. It sounds like this no frills mill will do the trick. How is it for running?

    I agree with this review. The uprights on this thing are canted forward way too much which takes up a lot more room and puts the tiny, non backlit monitor impossible to see (it’s also not canted up towards your eyes, unless you are 4’ tall). The uprights also shock me every single time I come off the belt, which isn’t fun. The speed is NOT accurate. Mine is probably 1mph slow. I also find it really hard to maintain any coherent speed but maybe I just need practice on this type of treadmill. Overall meh

    I bought this treadmill after watching this video. I've had it for two days and after taking delivery, assembly and two workouts I can say that Coop is being a real hater in this video. Mine did not arrive filthy. Assembly was not difficult and it is super easy to pick up and roll around my 2 car garage. The stickers suck and the console isn't flashy but it has been great in my garage gym so far. I guess when you get free equipment for making video content, the sponsors with deepest pockets want you to shit on their competition but I'm here to tell you, the TRU GRIT Runner is a solid piece of equipment.

    The reason why curved treadmills cost more is because the design of where the joints are located to absorb the impact when you jog. On a standard flat treadmill it easy to place them. But on a curved treadmill you have to put them in certain places so it can absorb it since its curved. After jogging on a curved treadmill for a month and still using a motorized treadmill once a week I can say this I have no injuries or soreness on my calves with the curved treadmill.
