The Cult Of Ray (1996), what a great album!
the first one was even more impressive
And the second one ("Teenager of the year") was excellent, too !
It was a moment in time almost forgotten. Music at its best
Thanks for not letting it be forgotten guys
Great concert, and Lyle workman - what a great guitarist.
Thanks for watching and commenting
Lyle is a genius
Frank Black Francis just never stops, I absolutely love him❤❤❤.
Thanks for uploading this mate.
I'm glad you found and enjoyed this Jimmy
Scott Boutier and Dave McCafferey, the Greatest Rhythm Section in Rock!!
The albums he did with this lineup are perfection.
Agreed. I'm glad you found and enjoyed this
agreed . I saw him on his 95 summer tour - Oh Man , that was pure rock gold at his finest
@@BlueHopi144 Do you know if it was with this exact line up?, I'd like to know, saw him in may 1995 and never found any info of that show
@@matiasmatias9521 i think it was this line -up but can't be totally sure of it 27 years after it happened .
@@matiasmatias9521 I'm pretty sure this was Frank's solo line up the entire time. I know these are the same guys that are on all The Frank Black and the Catholics. They added another member during that. Not completely sure about his first solo record/tour. I saw them 5 times during the late 90s and early 2000s and it was these guys in the line up.
Long live the king Mr Frank Black, Teenager of the year is one of the best albums ever made!
It really is. His FB solo years were more or less ignored, and now... mostly forgotten. Strange but true. We'll never know why.
it is by far my favorite album of all time i just cant get enough.
@@MatthewsVolvoSite doubt he'll ever revist his solo and Catholics output, but I'd welcome it over the Pixies stuff any day.
Always been a pixies fan before I heard that album but it's the one I go back to the most. Never heard songs structured so strangely that sound so natural.
I can see I'm amongst humans with good taste. Frank's solo work is the pinnacle of rock n roll for my taste.
Dave McCaffrey and Scout Boutier!!! The Greatest rhythm section in Indie Rock!!!
Workman is a genius FB was never better
LYLE WORKMAN!!!! his work on the first catholics gave me the horn for him. so bloody good
Great era for FB. Loved the most under appreciated album - Cult of Ray
Thank you! I remember seeing Frank open for the Ramones a couple years prior to this show. Something I'll never forget. Love this period of Frank!
Frank is a hero, great performance!
Thank you so much for your work, I know it takes time! I´m an avid digger of FB stuff, this is a treasure, pure gold. Will keep my eye on your channel.
So glad you enjoyed it and thanks for subscribing
Man's so badass we can't comprehend
hoshy lit
this is amazing.
well done on the restoration.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed this
I only regret that I have but one thumb to up for this magical display.
To me, it's really interesting how different Frank Black and the Pixies actually sound. Charles Thompson's solo stuff gravitates more towards classical rock. Pixies are a whole other thing.
Agreed. Thanks for commenting.
Excellent Thanks ST
Very welcome
Thank you SO much for posting this. I caught this tour in London, Ontario at "Call the Office"... and it's terrific to have this little rock time capsule. The Lyle Workman years were something special.
Glad you enjoyed it. I have another one to come, same quality and year.
@@ScottishTeeVee has it been posted? i dont see it. thanks
So fuckin good, thanks mr. black
thank you so much! 🙏
Just made the mistake of searching New Order live. It was so shit, despair came walking down my street - until I searched Frank Black live. Thank fuck.
Algorithm worked well for once!
Frank Black is a Legend, im big fan from México
Good to hear from a viewer in Mexico, you are one of the few from there who watch this channel.
Reminds me of Ziggy Stardust
Thank you for the effort its great!
You're very welcome!
thanks for uploading !!!!!!!
Glad you found and enjoyed this
Charles Thompson, you kept me alive. ❤
Welp. I flippin love this. Thx.
Thanks for watching and commenting Olivier
Terrific gig, terrific songs, terrific performance,, terrific band.
I could put this on endless repeat for weeks.
Enjoying this show a second time!,& ya know, believe this is a 1°example of F.Black,a k.a.C.M.K.T.,the fourth, full of confidence & everything; as they had reached the 3rd solo lp.,& many super shows, with his 2nd band. And us fans must recall too; this were right prior to f.b.& Catholics, so Thanx again Scottish tv.,for the work of bringin' this Gem to us. Now, in'22 - even with all the Changes, the new solo box '7-11' is Great,& quite interesting 🤔. Peace out, M
Great upload!
They played “Announcement” as the encore when I saw these F’n Ace legends...🙌
Thanks for watching and commenting Andrew
What a legend
Damn. Thanks for this ! AMAZING
Glad you found and enjoyed it
Phenomenal...Los Angeles and the 1-2-3 punch of Pong, Thalassocracy, MIB...spine shivers
Saw them later the same month @Roskilde fucking great!
Lyle Workman.....amazing..... 'er body .... This album hooked me
Teenager of the Year 23 songs of perfection
Modern classic
You are doing God's work! thank you!
Glad you enjoyed this, more rare FB to come
Thank you for sharing your recordings.
I will share it indeed! :)
Gorgeous !!! Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you

AMAZED
Thank ya so much, Scottish Tee Vee. You put together a Great Show for us, via ur channel. Will look for more. Take care, M
Glad you found and enjoyed this and are taking the time to look over the channel, much appreciated
Damn I trade it all just to be at that show
There's more to come, same quality and era
@@ScottishTeeVee what's the title?
FLIP YEAH! Great start of a show! Amazing 😄🤩
GENIO!!!!
You are a genius.
Wow man!!!
You enjoyed this ?
@@ScottishTeeVee Absolutely!
Just a bit
wow! thanks for sharing
My pleasure. Thanks for watching and commenting
That's pretty clear those guys were ready to record a new album live only on 2 tracks... in 2 days... 2 years later. Impressive live performance.
Lyle Workman with the Man is the most strikening rock combo playing in those years.
Awesomeness
At the last song is a real sad story by the name Shazeb Andleeb After all when I went there Shazeb Andleeb was beaten to death and immortalized by Frank Black. And this was before killing Pakistanis This song is about the fatal beating of Narbonne High School student Shazeb Andleeb which took place in Los Angeles, May, 1995. Apparently he was punched By his Last Dead (During the Hallway Near The Circle Area) on the stairs perhaps! May his soul rest in peace
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Me and a few friends went to 3 shows winter of 96. NYC, New Haven and Boston. We all shaved our heads and wrote Frank Black of our foreheads with a magic marker. Reid Paley opened then Johnny polonsky. Amazing shows! Cult of ray was the shit.
Thanks for watching and commenting Gary
Ha that's funny, I was at the Boston show and distinctly remember thinking: Damn, Frank has some crazy hardcore diehard fans, might have been you and your face paint lol
Damn I didn’t need to shave my head by then! So nice to hear the appreciation from the US when we absolutely loved Frank Black in the Uk
Freedom Rock is such a great track, and from such a great album in Teenager of The Year. I discovered Charles though this album. I obsessed over it, and then - of course - became a Pixies nut. The man is a genius, and I'm not just throwing around that word.
Thank you for doing gods work 😂👍
You are most welcome Lou
amazing
Glad you think so! More FB to come from Scotland 1996
Used to be ippy ay ay aye
beautiful results of the clean-up I must say
Thank you! Cheers!
Lyle workman....just wow
FB - smoooother than velvet penguin.
So sad that Frank went back to Pixies.
not at all , they kick ass still
Glad the Pixies finally got their due but the Catholics are sorely missed
@@BlueHopi144 Their new material isn't anywhere near as good as this stuff.
@@FaxanaduJohn very sad to say that your comment is totally accurate. The reformed Pixies minus Kim Deal is now a glass filled with 98% water and only 2% whiskey.
@@sirreal1290 Hey Sir Real, I can see your comment although I think TH-cam might have messed with it. I agree with you however!
Esse Frank Black é fera hein...
The Marsist is so heavy and tense. ❤
This shit is treasure.
🎶
So fucking good
I saw him sing 2 times:
1990s
Slims san Francisco
The fillmore san Francisco
The EUROPA LUNA
GHOSTS
God is here
God is Frank Black
As is the devil
Visionary
I would love to know what is exactely that creature crawling...
Am I a fool?
Mew Nick
Way to many commercials…:(
Is the band Catholics?
no, but some of the same members. a lot of these songs are on his 3rd solo record, the cult of ray. very good check it out! all of his stuff is good
It's the same band that played on the first Catholics album. Lyle Workman was replaced by Rich Gilbert soon after, which became the core Catholics lineup
The drummer and the bassist were in Miracle Legion, as well as being in the “Adventures of Pete and Pete” house band. No seriously.
I’ve not given any contemplation for the name before. Thanks!
I must ask him next time I see him
The amount of talent crammed into this one man is frightening.
The Cult of Ray was a charged and solid album with wonderful solutions including the cover
Pistolero holders up
@@wisetikka2281 pistolero came later, there are no such songs here
