Hi Eva, I recently was directed to your channel. And after watching several episodes, I am now subscribed. You are definitely the prototypical Intrepid Traveler. I don't know what it is exactly, maybe it's the way you look, your personality, the unpretentious way you draw people to you from the cultures you visit, that make you almost - border-less. You seem to blend in to where ever you are. (Well, you do have an infectious smile on camera.) Looking forward to following your adventures.
Hi Eva . Thank you . Those of us who don't see the world as you do for one reason or another actually do get to see it . And very interesting parts . We get to go with you lol . Always glued to them as we travel . We love you which is why we say always be careful , never forget your skills and keep on exploring . I admire you lol !
So happy and relieved you're taking safety precautions. As much as we wish everyone had good intentions, that's not the world we live in. But damn it still can be so beautiful.
Noticed my dad was watching some travel shows tonight and I recommended he watch your videos. He just watched one and loved it. He lived in Mexico for a couple years back in the 60s, so it was fun for him to see how it's changed. Stay Safe, Eva!
I love that you go to places that many women would feel unsafe traveling alone, it’s empowering to know that sometimes the world isn’t as scary as we think. I actually spent a couple months in Mexico and loved my time there and my family almost convinced me not to go alone!
Americans are truly drama Queens ? They complain about safety in other countries as examples Mexico But the most dangerous country is USA ! Haw many gunshots you have there ! According to statistics the most killed people are in US ? I was attacked in New York but I travel the world and never this happen to me !
@@JohnKrill because you are drama Queen! Haw many people are shot dead in US every year ? US is the most crime committed country in the world ! You going to be safer in Mexico than in US ! I travel the world trust me !
You could keep a spray bottle filled with vinegar, alcohol and a little bleach to make your clothes go way farther between laundry stops. I also keep a spray bottle filled with a little mineral oil, mostly alcohol and some vinegar with plant oils to keep bug bites from itching and keep me fresh instead of showering in the colder weather.
Welcome to tropical weather. This is what we call a ""passing cloud". The Sargasso Weed has been a problem with Caribbean beaches for quite some years now ! There are few drinks that come straight off a tree, that could rival the water from a green (unripe) coconut. Enjoy your stay Eva !
Oooh, I see Odyssey IS a TD5 Defender. You absolutely, definitely, positively, DO need to get some kind of fuel pre-filter/separator fitted before you go anywhere remote in south America. Sooner or later you're going to refuel at a petrol station where there's either water or sediment in the diesel and, if you don't have a pre-filter fitted, you're going to kill your lift pump, high pressure pump and/or injectors. The TD5 is a terrific engine (better than the "legendary" 300tdi IMO) but it's a modern engine and it has precision-engineered components that won't withstand poor quality fuel.
@Lancashirelad Yep, the engine definitely has weaknesses (such as the exhaust manifolds warping and the heads slipping on 10P engines too) but they're all things that can, and should, be fixed permanently. The problem is, the issue with the injectors isn't really the result of a design weakness. It's just a case of a perfectly good fuel injection system getting wrecked by bad fuel... if you don't fit a pre-filter. Gotta say, I do worry that Eva hasn't really done her homework regarding the TD5 Defender. If I was taking one on a long trip I'd definitely take steps to resolve all the common issues first.
@Lancashirelad Yep. I've watched video's where she's packing her vehicle and I'd be much happier if I was seeing things like spare filters, hub flanges, sensors, UJs and recovery equipment in addition to clothes and camera gear. Backpacking around the world is amazing but you've only got yourself to worry about. Doing trips in a vehicle requires a LOT more knowledge because you've got to be able to look after a vehicle as well - both in terms of maintenance and staying out of trouble.
Eva one of your videos just happened to pop up earlier this week when I was on the Field Craft channel. This is the 3rd video of yours that I have watched. The first was the full interior of the Odyssey, the 2nd Baghdad and then this one. I have not enjoyed a channel on YT or a host more than you. Your spirit for adventure, your enthusiasm and your sincerity are inspiring. Thank you so much.
As a young person that has been doing what you are doing for a while, it’s very nice to see you experience for the first times why we love overlanding. I hope we meet on the road one day.
As a Mexico traveler from El Norte, I find it amusing how determined you are to "rough it" in a country with a huge selection of clean hotels and delicious restaurants...both of which cost less than thirty minutes' driving in your Odyssey! Of course, such great prices are only available in the regions passed over by the foreign tourist herds 😁
This is what she does, it's the feeling of being so close to nature. She does occasionally stay in b&bs if she needs to stay in a place for s while though.
We have been travel vlogging in Mexico since October 2021 and have done that same route. Currently vlogging from Belize but heading back to Mexico soon. But moving about mostly by combi (chicken van) or a rented car now and then.
Wishing you all the best in this adventure Eva, bear in mind that you are taking all of us with you. I for one, love your independence and pushing your limits ... BRAVO!!! I look forward to the next chapter 😊🥳🤗 Please take care 🙏
Eva don't diminish other peoples warnings and bad experiences. Yes all those things DO happen, it' doesn't mean they ALWAYS happen, but they are possibilities. That it hasn't happened to you is awesome! You are a woman traveling alone which DOES make you an easy target. What you have going for you is that your always on the move and people don't know where your going until you have already been there. No need to live in fear but always be ALERT and watch your @$$ cuz nobody else is......
I very much agree! That goes with anything in life. Just because it doesn't always happen, and it didn't happen to you doesn't mean that it hasn't happened to other people. For example, vaccine injuries..I know actually quite a few people who have gotten moderate to severe permanent injuries and lots of people who are totally fine.. so far. I just thought I'd add that because so many people are convinced it's safe
Yeah exactly. This was pretty much my exact thought… like in one of her videos right before this one how she was talking about the warnings she somewhat dismissive of very real dangers & experiences.
@@Austin.Kilgore just because it has not happened yet, doesnt mean it never will! wise to heed the warnings about dangerous areas, it bothers me how shes so dismissive of bad experiences.
I’d love to hear more about the legalities you had to go through to bring Odyssey over, and how long you’re allowed to have the car out of country, etc.
you can typically have foreign cars in the country for a periood of 6 months. At least that was the case when I used to take my American car into Mexico. I paid a $500 usd deposit, which they refund to you once you return the permit, and $100 non-refundable fee.
@@chrisjamesg agreed and understood but since she’s transiting different countries that are all part of NA, I’m curious to know the rules, and limitations. For example, I know I can bring mine to europe for a maximum of 1 year unless I’m a student or something to that effect
I just interviewed a young 20-something woman on my podcast about her solo trip through Mexico and South America and all of the tips and trips for safety, etc.. I loved her story, but I really like seeing your version on video as well!!
My mother is in the hospital and things are insane rn. Everything makes me feel anxious and lost but your channel today has helped me even just a little bit. Thank you, I’m glad I found you.
Eva, police stop you because your license plates are not Mexican, it is inconvenient but better for you, driving at night is dangerous everywhere because animals crossing the road, is dark etc. enjoy Mexico, blessings.
Others have already mentioned it, but I’ll emphasize it, as well. While you’re in that part of Mexico, don’t forget to check out Merida, Yucatan. It’s a beautiful city and a must see.

Hi Eva! I've watched some of your earlier videos and you seem a completely different person now. You seem super happy, it's wonderful to see. Have a great time on your travels x
Next time you get to a truck stop have a look in the shop as they carry a lot of accessories and you should be able to get a fan that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. It won't cool the air but will create enough of a breeze to help you sleep at night. I used to do this back in the 80's when trucking to Italy before the days of aircon in everything.
Me and my boyfriend drove around Yucatan and Chiapas for two weeks in a rented car and it was a really cool experience. No problems whatsoever. There were checkpoints but the police were very friendly. Felt super safe. I highly recommended it, however we do speak Spanish and it definitely helps.
I drove this same route from Veracruz to Chetumal, the Rivera Maya and Belize in a Jeep CJ-7 back in 1989. Your trip brings back a lot of good memories. Be sure to check out Chichen Itza and the indiginous culture. @ItchyBoots another TH-cam explorer is passing through the Yucatan on her way to Alaska about now, it would be wonderful if the two of you could connect.
The voice over was beautiful and the wrap looked delicious! Great job going with the flow Eva! I’ve been looking forward to this video all week!! Woohoo back on the road! As frustrating as the whole transmission situation was in Turkey I’m really glad she had a total overhaul by PROFESSIONALS before hitting the highways! Sippin coconuts on the beach yusss!
You are so brave to make such a journey alone, especially by living in the truck - I wouldn't go without my husband. We think to buy camper van because we loved this way of traveling after visiting Iceland last year. Good luck with your travels!
Seeing you being so brave is very empowering, I don't know how you do it, I'm even to afraid to travel to Italy alone, an this is literally my neighbor country 😅.

Bienvenida a Mexico!
That stove is a bit tricky: I don't remember exactly, but in order to egange the gas bottle, you have to turn the valve in a safe position, or the bottle is not going to connect!
You are living the true dream! I know you have thousands of people wanting to be your companion on your trips and maybe more, but there’s something about being on your own and the peace and solitude that would take an INCREDIBLE amount of chemistry to even want to interrupt that at all. God bless you and God keep you safe. Cheers and safe travels. ❤️
Be safe where ever you travel too. It can be dangerous anywhere, just heighten your senses and listen to them. In my past travels about the world my senses were usually correct. Have fun!
I am a first-time viewer and now a subscriber. Love your video, love your can do attitude and the ability to adapt as needed. You're going to be just fine. Blessings to you.
I am glad that you are ok . I haven't been able to travel to Mexico to see my own mother for about 5 years now because of how violent the cartels have become . Stay safe my friend
Mad respect to you for being a solo female traveler. Living in a range rover nevertheless. Your video popped up in my suggestions today, you've got a new supporter !! Can;t wait to see your adventures ahead.
So glad you mentioned & acknowledged your blessing despite the audio & food. This was published on my bday....how ironic is that for my 1st time seeing you.
I have pretty much the same stove (although a bit banged up) and it sometimes does the same. When you lift that top cover around the burner you can reach with finger around bit that is moved by lock lever and push it in right place - than it works again ✌️ hope it’ll help.
Love to see you roll with the punches, essential for adventure traveling. Such a bummer to see all of the seaweed on the beach. I hear the whole east side of the Yucatán is plagued with this in the warmer months. Hope you find some clear spots.
I know your trip up to this certain point was dramatically important but waking up in beach camp site and minutes later exposed to most beautiful aerial coastal views and it felt unbelievably like a tropical oasis I was certainly surprised however this is my second video of my viewing of your experience and it has been proven to be correct choice I’m sticking with you for the joy it brings in the unknown factors in human behaviour from a foreigners perspective and rumours it hasn’t proven to be true so far but Mexico 🇲🇽 has been precisely what we anticipated so far so it has a great deal of good luck and your girly spider sense are on full alert and good old fashion commonsense has prevailed for the continuation of your South America trip of a lifetime experience
Eva, it takes so much patience, dedication & passion to do all of that you're doing. Everything about you is so inspiring. Can't put it in better words but hats off 🙌

Czesc Eva. Very cool. We were on Yucatán in August 2020 with a tiny rented car and we always felt secure. We drove also at night to different forested sites, we are accustomed to be underway at night. The Mexicanos son siempre amables. Órale güey :-)
Hello I'm new here. I loved that your in Mexico. I would love to go mexico one day. Thank you for sharing your videos ❤️ don't worry about the audio. Things happen
You are amazing! I love watching your videos! I enjoy traveling to Mexico and feel completely safe when I go there. Of course you have to be careful, as in other places. But you already know how to stay safe. Maybe one day you’ll be able to go to San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato. It’s rated as the number one place to visit in the world. It is a colonial city with top notch cuisine. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures! Enjoy the great Mexican food!
Your story reminds me of a couple with whom I stayed from time to time in Buffalo, NY. They have ridden their bicycles to every state in the US except Hawaii. You'd probably like to meet them.
I'm a fan of you and your channel and have spent considerable time working and vacationing in Mexico, and have had a couple of close calls. Although I dearly love the place, I would caution you to show no skin unless you are actually swimming at the beach. You have been fortunate so far, and we all want you to stay safe. If something ugly does happen, the police won't be able to help you. Not meant to scare you, just dress modestly, and be extra aware of your surroundings. Buen viaje.
My wife and I lived in Mexico for a year. I love the people, the culture, it's all amazing. We ended up leaving because of the crime and violence. I'm really proud of the things you do all over the world, but I can't emphasize how bad of an idea this is. It's one thing if you can get to a secured home, but to be camped in the car? I really wish you wouldn't. I've supported you since day 1 even going into war zones, but you had support in those war zones. There are so many places in Mexico that are more dangerous than Iraq, but you are camping out in a car with no security. Over the year we lived there we had some wonderful experiences and made wonderful friends...but we also got robbed and assaulted multiple times, not to mention the shakedowns by the people that are supposed to protect you. I really hope things go really well for you. I really hope you can arrange for regular safe sleeping arrangements, I can't stress enough how dangerous it is to try and camp in a vehicle as a single person, moreso a single woman. Please be safe.
@@MsJanetWood Google the WHO statistics on murder in both Mexico and Iraq. Because of the cartel violence, Mexico is more dangerous. This doesn't even go into the considerable crimes against women. I'm not lying, Mexico is a dangerous place.
@@edita366 Not sure, yes and no. I suppose it is courage but a part of me looking at the whole profile and what is goong on does wonder about the overall mental health of many of these youtube "content creators", it's complex but I can see a lot of very disturbing apects to what is being one and how , plus why/. No less so for this very popular youtuber. The levels of narcissism , delusion and insidious myopic self absorbed, escapism with such manic sense of entitlement, plus shallow, superficial, transparent, aimless living and attention seeking (successful) is off the scale and representative of a culture, society and civilization in free-fall. The notions and empty rhetoric of “freedom” are just delusional or and dishonest in the extreme. Real freedom would be doing these things without ever having to film and document any of it. Being a prisoner to fame (of a sort) and engaging in the lifstyle on show here, is especially for a woman very suspect to say the least. Of course she may just be the exception that we humans can absorb and accept as outliers that have other benefits, but the fact is that we could only tolerate a certain percent of people (make or female) indulging themaselves like this. She is totally dependent on all the others anywhere and everywhere making it possible for her to escape and live such a lifestyle. Civilization could not be sustained if we had too many such people as all the resources and assets that makes this possible are generated by civilization ans the vast majority of people producing and maintaning civilization to afford such a luxury and selfish indulgence. I do confess that I am gulity of watching these “content crreators” for my own utility and amusement. In this case studying the videos as if I was observing a lab rat and being fscinated by the behaviour and reseactions to it, including my own, which is remarkably negative overall and elicits such feelings of dismay, despair and even disgust. Mostly at what she represents and the more pernicious aspects to this whole enterprise. I am amazed at how such strong feelings or emotions of revultion and derision Eva can generate. Her voice and mannerisms are at times so excruciating. I mean, in a different setting she is above average in terms of physical attraction, yet she manages to make herself seem even groteque on some levels, strange I admit , but weird is not always wonderful. Be it the ugly tatoo, ragged hair and borderline scruffy or unkempt appearance, with the insane girly pretentions too, it all points to a extreme self absorbed selfish soulessness packaged as a rugged hyper individulaism, when it is more of a shortsighted short term cul de sac, devoid of depth and substance. The all positive feedback loop with barely ever a dissenting voice confirms the perncious natue of the whole endeavour. Still there is a great curiosity aspect to these type of “content creators” as there is simply too many of them to see that much by way of originality and creativity. So many of the same themes repeat over and over and it becomes like car crash TV to some extent. All that said yes I am taking a very critical position and not mentioning the positives, of which there are many too and yes it is impressive that there are elements of courage or just dogged detemination which speak of the human spirit too. Seeing this in a female is also novel and curious too. Overall though I think doing the harder stuff of having babies, building and cultivating and populating plus producing a civilization is the far more impressive, courageous and noble way to go. There is a place for both, but the percentages needed, or allowed for the self indulgence here is smaller than we would like to admit.
@@dublintvcontent2023 Your criticisms scream a reflection of yourself. I think your long negative pov is just a self projection and a general rant of popular TH-camrs in general. I would way rather hang out with Eva because she seems brave and open minded positive resilient and all the other things many humans lack especially solo female travellers.
@@CuriousCat777 My typos notwithstanding, it seems clear you did not read or understand much of what I wrote. UP TO YOU. The absurdity of your projection, distraction and deflection ignores the fact that there are literally thousands of hours of video by and about Eva that can be subject to analysis and then interpretation. People can agree or disagree with the conclusions and evaluate things differently and make various points, but you have not done anything of the sort, again, Up To You By contrast there is literally zero information about me and I am not the topic of the comment . Thus any projection by you is detached from reality. Bottom line is that I gave a considered and informed view and personal perspective while making many points and offering reasons too. Anyone is free to have a different understanding and outlook plus welcome to point out specific things they think or feel that I am wrong about. The first criticism of my comments could easily have been, for example, that to have spent the time and energy to engage with the content and comments is, in of itself, somewhat crazy. Fair enough, but I accept that whilst also having explained my reasons at least partially (research) and being aware of the absurdity of it all and able to return to the real world fully anytime I wish. Eva by contrast, being the star here has made her faustian pact and is too much of a prisoner to be so free. You can simp and be the sycophantic Knight till your hearts content. Best wishes regardless.

I actually spent a couple months in Mexico and loved my time there and my family almost convinced me not to go alone!
please be careful. she is just one person.
I'm a guy and have lived in SCalif most of my 78 years and I wouldn't travel through any part of Mexico right now. So, please stay safe.
Every women or a men feel unsafe outside home...
Eva bienvenida a mexico disfruta tu viaje mexico te recibe con los brazos abiertos
@Lancashirelad Yep.
I've watched video's where she's packing her vehicle and I'd be much happier if I was seeing things like spare filters, hub flanges, sensors, UJs and recovery equipment in addition to clothes and camera gear.
Backpacking around the world is amazing but you've only got yourself to worry about.
Doing trips in a vehicle requires a LOT more knowledge because you've got to be able to look after a vehicle as well - both in terms of maintenance and staying out of trouble.
pointless to give this gal any type of advice, she wont listen lol. she will learn the hard way about this.
She'd get car jacked or trafficed before any of that happens :]
I love how you find little positive things when everything seems to be going wrong!
Soft or hard?
Eva one of your videos just happened to pop up earlier this week when I was on the Field Craft channel. This is the 3rd video of yours that I have watched. The first was the full interior of the Odyssey, the 2nd Baghdad and then this one. I have not enjoyed a channel on YT or a host more than you. Your spirit for adventure, your enthusiasm and your sincerity are inspiring. Thank you so much.
One of my TH-cam heroes. You go girl...
The bravest woman on this platform...chapeau to you Wonder Woman! I wish I could lead your life for a couple of months at least! xx
She does occasionally stay in b&bs if she needs to stay in a place for s while though.
haha exactly my thoughts.
Eva, I’ve been watching you for years now and you traveling in Mexico alone shows you have huevos!!
yeah, because the United States is soooooo safe
It is a lack of humility.
Some people in the USA think the whole country is DANGEROUS...Mexico is AMAZING and the people are BEAUTIFUL! Never had a problem.
For example, vaccine injuries..I know actually quite a few people who have gotten moderate to severe permanent injuries and lots of people who are totally fine.. so far. I just thought I'd add that because so many people are convinced it's safe
jajajajjajaja funny guy....
This is the first video I've seen on this channel. I love the presentation, the music and your upbeat and positive attitude. I can't wait to see more.
I hope to see you interacting with people and exploring different cultures. I loved that about your pre Odyssey days
I just interviewed a young 20-something woman on my podcast about her solo trip through Mexico and South America and all of the tips and trips for safety, etc.. I loved her story, but I really like seeing your version on video as well!!
Really?
I love that you called it the tool that lets you do stuff we all become attached to our tools even when we realize that’s what they are
My mother is in the hospital and things are insane rn. Everything makes me feel anxious and lost but your channel today has helped me even just a little bit. Thank you, I’m glad I found you.

i hope your mother will be alright
@@Maria-xq5pb thank you for the well wishes distant friend. I truly hope so, too.
When you talk in Spanish = perfection. Espero que aprendas más en tu viaje
You are such a brave person! Much respect for you, you seem to be living your best life. I will pray for safe travels and good fortune.

Aww what a bummer having all that audio ruined! Just gotta roll with it though, hopefully no more issues like that in the future. Love following your adventures, I’m on my own adventure with my pup traveling out of our suv in the U.S. and getting ready to head up to Montana for the summer. Definitely have encountered our own challenges along the way
Hi Eva! I've watched some of your earlier videos and you seem a completely different person now. You seem super happy, it's wonderful to see. Have a great time on your travels x
Eva, it ALL gets better from here!
Enjoy Mexico + keep smiling!
Odessey has a great name!
Was going to mention this to you about Itchy boots !
Noraly may still be still in Guatemala.
All hail the CJ7
You are so incredible, Eva. Every Friday I'm excited to see where you are this week. Be safe!
Sippin coconuts on the beach yusss!
i never seen someone so happy in my life...that smile...wow.
You are so brave to make such a journey alone, especially by living in the truck - I wouldn't go without my husband. We think to buy camper van because we loved this way of traveling after visiting Iceland last year. Good luck with your travels!
I love your videos Eva, watching your journey through my homeland Mexico makes me nostalgic, may God bless you and protect you in your journey!
Seeing you being so brave is very empowering, I don't know how you do it, I'm even to afraid to travel to Italy alone, an this is literally my neighbor country 😅.
Way to always stay positive! I think electronics and issues with cooking happens. But damn...the rain just sucks. Also, congrats on making it to this side of the world too! And hell yeah, a full video of Odyssey!
Bienvenida a Mexico!
Go girl &live life! It's a beautiful wonderful world.
I'm so glad the police there were kind to you, Mexico gets such a bad rap but the culture is extremely welcoming and friendly.
That stove is a bit tricky: I don't remember exactly, but in order to egange the gas bottle, you have to turn the valve in a safe position, or the bottle is not going to connect!
Yep, a standard CP-250 cannister has a notch in the rim, at the top, so it has to be properly aligned in the cooker before it'll lock in place.
Shouldn't the cover be closed too? Over the gas bottle? I have that stove and mine won't work unless closed. Aligned and closed.
@@marcelalopezlira7105 that's exactly what i was going to say
Quick question. Have you ever thought of getting a dog with you? A great companion and an extra level of security? Love the videos. Thanks, alycia.
I second this. You need protection, even though you are a smart cookie.
Stay safe Eva, you're travelling for me when I can't! Keep it up.

You are brave to travel in Mexico. The beaches are beautiful & campsite looks very nice. It looks like A fun vacation.🌹😇Pamela
you can travel safely through mexico
WTF? Where? Where is Mexico more dangerous than Iraq? Stop lying!
@@MsJanetWood Google the WHO statistics on murder in both Mexico and Iraq. Because of the cartel violence, Mexico is more dangerous. This doesn't even go into the considerable crimes against women. I'm not lying, Mexico is a dangerous place.
I love Eva!!! She’s living everyone’s dream especially us females.😇 🌟
Really? How so exactly?
@@dublintvcontent2023 She's got courage.
People can agree or disagree with the conclusions and evaluate things differently and make various points, but you have not done anything of the sort, again, Up To You
By contrast there is literally zero information about me and I am not the topic of the comment .
You are brave and so beautiful. Love your new style.
