Loved your reaction to the quest! I remember clearly this is where I well and truly fell in love with Emmrich. Although I don't believe either decision is wrong, I personally can't pick lichdom because A) Emmys reaction in the post scene to having Manfred back B) If you choose Lich a certain companion banter you get after it breaks my entire heart
Emmrich's quest chain was sooooo good. Probably my favourite like EVER. He's such a great companion and romance. When Manfred died at the first, I cried like a baby😖😭 It came out out of nowhere unlike other deaths. I had to bring him back... and Emmrich was so happy about his skeleton son. Until after an old friend told me something important sacrifice... By the time through my 2nd playthrough as MW, I made peace with deaths and chose to let Manfred rest. Such a great story line, probably one of the best if not the best Bioware's work like ever. It resonated with me very much🥺
I wasn't sure who to romance at first. I flirted with Davrin for a bit and Emmrich was my last party member recruited. I hard swerved to him after getting to know him and memorial garden quest. I love the whole team but he is my favorite. I let him become a lich though, i wanted him to have his dream. Reviving Manfred is a really amazing route but i thought his lich route also had great moments. They did a great job with him.
I respected Manfred's choice to give himself up for his father's dreams, so I let him rest in the Fade. This quest really reminded me of Cole's branching paths.
eh, i wouldn't compare it i get how you can say that because manfred becomes more than 'just a spirit' but it wasn't like manfred himself was choosing he just got killed in the attempt and personally? i prefer cole spirit because it's kind of 'be normal' narrative for human that i didn't like, he had mroe of a chance to be corrupted when he became more human and though he did not in the story, he still can but saving manfred just seems to flesh out emmerich's arc more for me personally (my opinion only, not saying yours isn't valid) emmerich had a fear of dying and i feel like a big part of the appeal of lich for him is because he wouldn't die i like the idea of both manfred and emmerich sacrificing for each other and emmrich facing his fears for manfred just as manfred did for him i feel like emmerich basically cheating death just isn't as appealing as an arc
Manfred didn't choose to die, he chose to try and help. There is no honor in keeping him dead, that's just an excuse people use to feel better about their choice.
Appreciate seeing your take on Emmrich's choice. I personally ended up choosing lichdom for the reasons you stated (Emmrich's words in particular were a huge influence for me) but also it just felt terrible to me to ask Emmrich to give up his life's work. I think a lot of people have been trying to attach morality to the choice and shaming people for choosing lichdom which grossly undermines Emmrich's story. Had to avoid some parts of the fandom because of how they've been acting about a lot of the choices in the game (as if there's only one correct choice ugh). Edit: I do disagree about lich!Emmrich resembling ascended Astarion or Gale, though.

My Rook is a fire mage and I headcanon he teaches Manfred dangerous magic and Emmrich is secretly loving it but scolding them all the time 😂

says she doesn’t want to cry then picks one of the saddest quest🥹 the amount of tears shedded this stream was crazy but completely worth💜
The kid turned out to be an arcane horror lol. His drip's dope
My problem with a romanced lich Emmerich is he just transfers his fear of dieing on to rook
Merry Christmas Meg ❤ 🎅

Emmerich is by far my favorite character.
