i will tell you. They brought millions of fans in that did not know anything about kpop. Those fans then decided to join other fandoms to become multifandom. From there a huge chunk of these millions of people told someone who then told someone about kpop. That is why kpop is bigger than it was 10 years ago.
Liyana Rabah - Theyre kings because theyre actual game changers in kpop. Music in korea was never experimented on before Bigbang (GD) actually tried it. They changed kpop to what it is today. It was never about going western and doing western. Western music doesnt even sound like this to an extent. They debuted in 2006, so they are definitely legends. There are groups that have been around longer, like Shinhwa (they are the real OGs; they've been around for almost 20 years, which is unheard of in K-pop), Sechskies, and Super Junior, but Bigbang has definitely left their mark. The members are:

I was gonna mention those groups as well. Also S.E.S, H.O.T, G.O.D, Epic High, TVXQ, SNSD (Girls Generation), so many groups from the 1990's and 2000's. Those groups, the first generation paved the way for groups like Big Bang who came after them. The second generation and others paved the way for where we are now. Those groups, all of them, made kpop what it is now. ^__^ So many groups - so many good groups. And about half the groups from like 1990-2000's are still around.

It would be nega, naega and niga in Korean. Phonetically in English though, they all sound similar to nigga lol.
fun fact, in chinese, they also say "nega" which also sound like nigga but they are saying "that/this".
Funny story about that. I had an African friend that knew I spoke chinese so they asked me "why does it sound like the chinese people at this shop I go to are always saying nigga?" Not only do chinese people use 那个 nage (sounds like naygeh) to mean 'that' they also use it like we use 'umm' as a filler word while thinking. So that is why you will hear it said a lot. On a side note 这个 zhege (jaygeh) actually means 'this'.
Many idols cite Big Bang as their role models and reasons why they decided to become singers. GD & TOP are also the ones that made it popular to have rappers in idol groups. They completely changed the face of KPOP as we know it. They are LITERALLY unrivaled.

before, idols and artists are on a different level and people tend to look down on idols for just singing songs handed out to them or looking calculated but they made their way when g-dragon wrote "lies" and that made people look at idols on a different level. he then wrote so many songs after that which made them respected as artists and not idols. then other idols were also given the freedom to write their songs.they are also one of those who made kpop asian wide and one of the first to get recognized in the west.

But the 1st OG’s gen you mentioned sure they took Kpop to one level but that was just in Korea no one unless you really know the history of Kpop knows those groups off hand. The 2nd OG’s gen actually took Kpop and made a wave internationally. So basically I’m saying each Gen comes in and move Kpop further and further along. So when I say Big Bang paved the way for BTS yes that’s it. Just like Rain made a path for Big Bang and they made a path for BTS and BTS will push Kpop further and they too will make a path for someone else to move Kpop further along. Big Bang does hella club bangers, but I also ADORE their softer music. They did a song on the same album as Bang Bang Bang called 'If You' (album and tour is called MADE). They did not make a MV for it, but they did release a concert footage video for it. You should watch the 'If You' Tour Report from either Bangkok or Singapore. It is one of the prettier songs GD has written.

I feel like i need to impart some knowledge. Big Bang is the oldest group to never change members. They weren't very popular when they debuted but got a huge break with their song "Lies" since then they have done nothing but rise in the kpop world helping to shape it into what it is today.
GDragon is not just the leader but the person who writes their songs. As they got more popular their videos became a lot more stranger. Good but stranger lol. Now people just consider it Big Bang's style.

Bigbang is a 5 member group created under YG entertainment back in 2006. Bigbang is the first idol group to be created under YG entertainment after their former label member se7en (the first idol singer under YG) They are considered one of the first groups that began the Hallyu wave in the western world and the whole world. They debuted in 2006 with the rnb/hiphop hit 'LaLaLa' (There's a English and Korean version of this song)

Bigbang had originally 6 members but during a survival show the 6th member left. It's hard to explain you just have to watch the making of Bigbang to get what happened. Let's just say he didn't take his last chance to join and Seungri took his place.
Bigbang have faced alot of turmoil and almost disbanded around 2011 due to alot of scandals ( Daesung got into a car crash and the person involved died so people called him a murderer ( Korean media is scary honestly), GD got caught with a small trace of weed on his system ( a big no no in Korea apparently hu) , and Seungri ran into many dating rumors (which is also a big no no sadly. Idk why tho)
Many believe it was because they were at the Idol group curse prime ( Most groups at the time disbanded around their 3 to 5 year)

G-Dragon which is the KING of Kpop is their leader and he is the most famous and rich kpop idol in the world, he's the one writing and composing most of their songs and he got a lot of top charts solos as well. He got in trouble for smoking weed, got charged, his name was dragged through the mud, ended up in hospital for an overdose on perscription medication and eh fmd.
