I like the copper coated scouring pads for scrubbing stainless steel pots without scratching them the way SOS/steel wool can. I’ve certainly used SOS pads on my toaster oven rack, but Power Wash wasn’t around then. I’ll have to try the DW pod hack. I also line the toaster oven crumb tray with heavy duty aluminum foil for quick cleanup.
I second, third, fourth the idea of putting plastic wrap over the cleaner you use. I've also used plastic wrap over Easy-Off fume freea cleaner and let it sit. Finally, the next time you're at Dollar Tree, get little brushes from the crafts aisle. It's good for getting crumbs out where the door meets the rest of the oven. Finally, I always wrap the crumb tray in foil. Some manufacturers don't recommend doing that, but they're not the ones who are cleaning my toaster oven.
I don’t know about spraying cleaners of any kind over the controls as it gets into the wiring. I’m not sold on Dawn power clean seeing as you used sos pads to scrub while the dawn was still in the machine
Holy guacamole! Thanks for showing us a realistic sticky toaster oven. This was great time lapse.. And the reminder to do in layers. And a striped sweater...wow
I use Easy Off degreaser. I spray it and then coat where I sprayed with cling wrap. This would work on the drip tray too. The cling film keeps the degreaser moist. This works well on pots and pans too.
I need this and will try it, thank you for giving the names of the tried and true products! My mom taught me but back in Poland and here in Canada we have completely different products. I'm excited to bring my toaster oven back to it's former glory!
I used to clean industrial pizza ovens. I would always finish with a light coat of baby oil. It would give it a nice finish. The oil would also create a layer under any future grease and it would be easier to clean next time.
Didn’t she say something about the “non-stick surface” inside? And don’t you want to avoid scratching that off? That’s why I thought SOS pads would be a no-no.
But what procedure do you use to do it? Do you combine the Dawn and baking soda? Do you scrub with Dawn and then pour baking soda on and let sit? Without instructions, just knowing the cleaning products doesn’t help (at least for me.)
Red Deer! Used to own a cottage on Gull Lake years ago. Spent lots of time in Red Deer with friends. Miss being in that beautiful part of Alberta. Cheers from Arizona.
And greetings from Duncan, BC! I use Bar Keepers Friend. The best stuff for everything from pots, pans, pyrex, aluminum, etc. BTW, how did the lettering not come off around the dials?
Here's a good trick to keep the vertical walls of the oven soaking in the product: After spraying the walls thoroughly with product, immediately cover with plastic wrap. This will not only keep the product covering all surfaces, but it stops the products from drying out. Even if you leave it overnight, the product will stay wet, and therefore continue cleaning. Cleaning will be much easier after soaking for more time.
But how do you get the plastic wrap to stick to the walls of the toaster oven to keep it up there? Also, there's some kind of cheese or something that fell into the heating element itself of my toaster oven and I don't know how to get it out. Any suggestions?
@@amylynn3353 I'm not the person you are asking, but to answer your first question: typically the plastic wrap just stays up and stuck by itself because it's so light. So it clings to the product, which clings to the walls of the oven, and doesn't typically slide down. There is no trick to keeping it up.
@@amylynn3353 If you still have that bit of food that fell into the element, it should burn off. Turn the temp up high and let it burn the food off. There's some kind of cheese or grease or something that fell into the heating element itself of my toaster oven and I don't know how to get it out. Any suggestions?
The best way to clean a toaster oven is to stay on top of it and never allow it to get this bad. I say this from experience. My TO was so bad when I moved, I just threw away a perfectly working oven. I was so overwhelmed with it. I’ve owned two since and both stayed clean throughout their lifetimes. One just stopped working. As soon as a little buildup or crumbs start. It gets a thorough cleaning. Then it takes about 5 minutes. Same for microwaves and ovens. I learned my cleaning lessons the hard way.😅😅
That’s exactly what I do in both the toaster oven and microwave. Once everything is softened then a swipe with a non abrasive cleaning sponge or magic erase a tough spots and I’m done. Trays and racks get a quick soak and wash after use. A paste of barkeepers friend gets any tough spots - done.
This just on time for the holidays. I have the Ninja foodi convection smart oven toaster. I used it once for the day I bought it for that Christmas and maybe used 3 times since the most. I went to just using my air fryer. I need to clean both the air fryer needs it more but I don't know if I can use Dawn power wash on the fan area?🤔 That's definitely is where the fan gets gunked up the most then burns out quickly. I lost another off name toster oven like that. I will try all of these you didn't say which dish pod to use my guess this is like a Cascade? I don't have a dishwasher so I don't know.🤔 Thanks so much for doing this video... I was about to risk it all and use easyoff I bought now I'll take it back because of this video. 😂😂😂 Thank you 😊👍🏾❤
Toaster oven are great in the summer so don't have to heat up the kitchen if you want to make biscuits or bake a pie or pizza. In the winter they are good for heating plates to keep meal warm I use mine daily for lots of things oddly enough not for toast. Lol
I just replaced ours it was so well worn. I went a bit larger and got a deal on one with a built in air fryer (which I’ve yet to use 🤷♀️). I rarely use the full size oven as this does the trick for small trays of grilled veg or a couple of pieces of fish. And yes - it definitely keeps the house much cooler. It’s not too difficult to clean if grime isn’t allowed to accumulate. A little paste of barkeepers friend on splatters immediately after use and it easily rinses & wipes clean. Cheers!
I think the rounded end of those oven racks are supposed to go towards the back if you noticed the shape of the back end of that oven. I know that's not your oven but it seems to be one of the ones that can accommodate like a 12-inch Pizza

If you wrap foil around the top and a bit of the sides of the crumb tray it will keep it cleaner. Then you just have to toss the dirty foil away and put new foil around the tray
I would NOT spray water directly on the elements to rinse. Use a clean wet cloth to wipe any cleaner or burnt on debris. You may have to do this a few times. Just keep rinsing the cloth and wiping. And yes, leave the door open to dry out before plugging in and using. Over night is a great idea.

Bravo!!! I also have a keen attention to and for detail. Kitchen appliances IMHO ought NEVER get as greasy, grimy, or have BAKED ON, encrusted residual gunk burned on. I have vastly different characterization of what “PROPERLY” clean is. Have always gone high end with kitchen appliances. Wolf, Viking, Sub Zero, and Kitchenaid etc. Special ordered a Kitchenaid 1800W digital Convection countertop toaster over in a Bimini Caribbean Turquoise Blue for my better half. It was over $600.00. My profession kept me away on the West Coast of the USA, then, 14 months on the other side of the globe. The poor appliance looks as if it has never been cleaned!!! I am happy to see how yours came out. May dive into next week! Thank you so much for your post!
OK, I was just wondering if you’ve ever tried a dryer sheet in water to soak out a filthy dish or pan? I did and it worked extremely well. I am going to try your tips here on my toaster oven which I love but I use daily! Thanks for this!
We have never tried that or heard of that, in our experience the dishwasher tab soaking overnight is usually the best. But we will put that on our radar.
I recently stayed at my daughter's place. Her toaster oven gave me nightmares. The Virgo in me is compelled to clean that sucker on my next visit. I'll be going armed for action. Thx for the cleaning demo.
Dawn Professional Power Disolver Spray. It comes in a white spray container. I tried to link a picture, but it would not link. My daughter worked at a chain restraurant and they used this to clean the pot/pans. She told me about it and now I use it on everything. It is not a strong odor and can be used indoors. Nice job on the toaster oven
Yes you can, we use power wash on ovens all the time. We bust out the oven cleaner when it is really bad. For a toaster oven we felt it was safest to avoid oven cleaner and stick to power wash.
Of my gosh, scrub for a couple hours , time, supplies = time to buy a new on. $35 to $100 bucks. Or foil the bottom, keep your racks clean, it will last many years before replacing. I have a brand new one stored from Costco $35.00
I don't get the results you do use powerwash. I haven't tried sos pads because I didn't think you could use it on their so called non stick surface. My sink is not as large as yours so hard to clean racks. I am looking at the new corsica oven
I wrecked my crumb tray, insert cooking tray, and air fryer basket with rust, so my stuff falls straight to the oven floor. I wish i had money to replace it, my oven/stove got unplugged and it'll be a nightmare moving the fridge, etc to get it plugged back in (plus that oven doesnt work right, so its just the stove.) I hope I can manage cleaning it, im not patient about chores. (I have hopeless depression and no motivation, so it's easy to give up.) 😩
Thanks for the great tips and all your hard work. You are, of course, insane but luv ya just the same. If the oven isn't smoking and it's cooking fine, I would just put a cloth cover over it when not in use or buy a new one. That size oven is pretty cheap and probably took years to get that dirty. It wouldn't owe me anything. I'd rather work at my job to earn the money for a new one than spend my leisure time scrubbing a toaster oven for hours on end. But you're likely making some cash for what you do and we appreciate it too.

I used easy off in my toaster oven BEFORE learning that is a huge no no and now I cannot for the life of me get the smell out. Did I ruin mine for good? :(
It looks amazing
I’d never let mine go this far but this method/ these products are great. And also I’d buy a new one 🤭
I have a toaster oven/air fryer/ convection overnncombo. Would the dawn work on that too
That’s my question too!
We just did ours with rubbing alcohol (dawn power spray didn’t work on the grease). The toaster oven looks brand new!
Mine is way dirtier than this 😩 I didn't know that was a crumb tray and thought it was just burned so this give me hope. But I can't believe you also did this in a white sweater?! 🙌🏽
I put foil on the bottom of mine and change it once in a while. My problem is the window glass. It is looking very bad. I am going to clean it. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing
I used Magic Eraser on my toaster oven glass door a few weeks ago and it came out amazingly clean
Is it okay to use Dawn power wash in a situation like this where you're not going to be able to rinse it off?
I cover the crumb tray and cooking sheet with foil and when it gets gunky I can replace the foil instead of scrubbing them.
I always put aluminum foil on the bottom crum tray. Then easy peasy too keep it from getting disgusting, and just have to change the foil
What about the top and sides of the inside?
I volunteered to clean my mothers toaster oven so... I bought a new one!
She wasn't fooled.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m definitely going to try the new Dawn product. I thought it was just another look for Dawn dish soap. Thank you.
It is seriously magic.
Love Dawn power wash
I wouldn't use Dawn Powerwash on the interior of anything that will be heated up or in contact with food. It ruined my oven door because it soaked in and couldn't be properly rinsed out enough because it is SO concentrated.
I learned my cleaning lessons the hard way.😅😅
Yes! That's the way to do it. If you stay on top of things, and clean regularly they last so much longer. Cleaning is maintenance!
How do you removed the metal guards off the heat element ?
I use clorax especially when I burn the beans. I put clorax in The pan and let it sit over night, next morning it is spotless
Wow!! I will be trying this
How do you get all that soap out of toaster oven since you can’t rinse it?
Clean cloth with hot water, keep wiping and rinsing the cloth out.
Great job! I need to do mine… should I just go straight in with Mr. Clean if it’s like this toaster oven? How long do I let it sit? Thanks!
Boil a couple of cups of water put it in the oven, turn the temperature
all the way up and the steam will take a lot of that stuff out
oooh that is a very good idea.
Don't stop there, put baking soda and vinegar in the water to speed up the process and disinfect too.
Lol
These are very good ideas!
Cheers!
Does dawn power wash have ammonia in it? The only thing that usually cuts grease is ammonia.
I think the rounded end of those oven racks are supposed to go towards the back if you noticed the shape of the back end of that oven. I know that's not your oven but it seems to be one of the ones that can accommodate like a 12-inch Pizza
How long can switch on the oven after cleaning?
To be safe I would let it dry out over night with the door left open.
Can I use this same method + cleaning products to clean a Ninja Foodi 8-in-1 air fryer oven?
We have an air fryer cleaning video actually - very similar idea to cleaning a toaster oven.

What is lyman?
I wonder if this would also work in an air-fryer?…🦋🦋🦋
We have an air fryer video...and yes pretty similar. Dawn Power wash for the win!

don't have dawn power wash in Australia... I'll have to google for an alternative i guess 🙁
Fairy liquid ❤
Transcript button doesn't work. Trying to get the name of the last product you used to wipe the exterior. Wyman's? Lyman's? Weiman -- found it on Amazon.
If you wrap foil around the top and a bit of the sides of the crumb tray it will keep it cleaner. Then you just have to toss the dirty foil away and put new foil around the tray
I wsa going to throw mine away but my toaster oven is still good. Thank you for sharing this video
The sos pad is helpful
Thank you😊
Can you spray water on the elements to rinse them? Should you leave the door down overnight to dry it out?
I would NOT spray water directly on the elements to rinse. Use a clean wet cloth to wipe any cleaner or burnt on debris. You may have to do this a few times. Just keep rinsing the cloth and wiping. And yes, leave the door open to dry out before plugging in and using. Over night is a great idea.
Thanks so much for your help I believe it just takes a little time an Clean more frequently like each time you use it or maybe baking soda my help I really just do know but I am working on my on it looks a little better but I did not try as much so I am getting to work on it again with a cleaning product i really appreciate your product an information Thanks I am really afraid of fire thank
You are Ahhhhmazing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ive had good luck using bar keepers friend on the outside of my toaster oven
I recently stayed at my daughter's place. Her toaster oven gave me nightmares. The Virgo in me is compelled to clean that sucker on my next visit. I'll be going armed for action. Thx for the cleaning demo.
Dawn Professional Power Disolver Spray. It comes in a white spray container. I tried to link a picture, but it would not link. My daughter worked at a chain restraurant and they used this to clean the pot/pans. She told me about it and now I use it on everything. It is not a strong odor and can be used indoors. Nice job on the toaster oven
Can you use the Powerwash on ovens when you cannot use oven cleaner?
Yes you can, we use power wash on ovens all the time. We bust out the oven cleaner when it is really bad. For a toaster oven we felt it was safest to avoid oven cleaner and stick to power wash.
We cannot use oven cleaner due to having a parrot. Thanks@@gocleanco
Breville tells you to not use abrasive scour pads as can remove the protective coating
👍👍👍beautiful work
Of my gosh, scrub for a couple hours , time, supplies = time to buy a new on. $35 to $100 bucks. Or foil the bottom, keep your racks clean, it will last many years before replacing. I have a brand new one stored from Costco $35.00
Is the wetness cause electric wont work?
Let dry fully before plugging back in and using. Leave the door open and sit for 24 hours if you want to be super safe.
I don't get the results you do use powerwash. I haven't tried sos pads because I didn't think you could use it on their so called non stick surface. My sink is not as large as yours so hard to clean racks. I am looking at the new corsica oven
You're a hoot to watch! Will give it a go.😀
Thanks
This is a great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Maybe use one of those pads that you use on glass stove tops.
I’m not seeing if the Tineco winner was announced yet? Good luck everyone 😊
I wrecked my crumb tray, insert cooking tray, and air fryer basket with rust, so my stuff falls straight to the oven floor. I wish i had money to replace it, my oven/stove got unplugged and it'll be a nightmare moving the fridge, etc to get it plugged back in (plus that oven doesnt work right, so its just the stove.)
I hope I can manage cleaning it, im not patient about chores.
