I have a suggestion please guide people to the level of beginners. The ones who can't afford academies and have to do self study throughout year need books. Academies gives notes which they again can't get or afford. So better suggest most recommended books the toppers academies once suggested. Because without getting knowledge from books you can't use internet resourcefully. People who studied in good institutes do know these techniques but many private candidates from BA or Bsc don't know. It's just a suggestion I hope you won't get offend by this.

Newspaper reading does not give the basics . . It is used for analysis purpose . . You should rather read some good books which will help to build ur understanding regarding national, regional and international issues . . If u are beginner read pakistan and world affairs by shamshad. Pakistan a hard country by anatol Lieven and one book why nations fail by james A Robinson . . These books will give u historical perspective aswell as contemporary world affairs . . Dnt rely on newspaper indeed it is necessary but reading these books will help to give u CSS related material :)

Well, you may start from essays first. For that you can follow Little Brown for writing, after that you can go smoothly.Remember! it's the 'Essay Writing' that counts the most pertaining to CSS. So first of all get it straight.

Women (Rights,abuse, ..... empowerment and so on and so forth) 6. Diversity of cultures 7. Unemployment 8. Agriculture 9. On Current Affairs 10. Some Major... High profile International disputes and cases. 11. On Economy 12. Child Abuse 13. Human Rights So on and so forth .... Prepare your essays on your own .... Or just learn some tricks from UPSC qualifiers. But your own brainstorming is highly recommended instead of going blind after certain essay writing books. This book is besto for css preps. Rest of the books go very deep about concepts so making it confusing for students. Go for Martin book.
Raymond murfee's book "english essay in use" is more essay and descriptive in term of english grammer
