The trick for the making of that video there; was to build that ED-209 prototype using fiberglass as most of the components material, for weight reduction. Then for the video itself: it was also added a standard video special effect for the spri-shooting effect, from the side mounted ED-209 guns, that were installed with a smokey feature, for final action added realism.

I've watched this 10 or more times by now. This is pinnacle work!! The movements look real and believable. Sound FX are on point and the graphics are insane.
"The movements look real and believable." - yes, except the fact, that EDs guns targeting are stabilized while it just walks, but all targeting stabilization is gone when it engages while walking.
Usually the lighting and composition and even color are way off from the colors and lighting recorded. This is really well done. This is better than some crap you see in movies nowadays.

BACK IN THE DAY OF 'ROBOCOP' ... I was at the big multiplex next to Universal to see a movie and there, in the lobby was the full-size filming prop of the badass, 'ED-209' ... and I must have studied it for at least a half an hour. Such glorious details and ever so logical of design. What you've recreated here is ever so cool. OKOKOK -- now, if you don't mind too-too much ... a few notes ... from one director & artiste to another. If you have a redo on the render of the above scene, please consider putting in some 'life goes on' stuff -- like perhaps, 'ED' is discovered behind a parked car, his upper torso turned to something else -- -- and to up the ante when he sees the camera -- Ed starts the Ed stomp towards us and kicks it 20 feet thataway or the like. Then for shits & giggles, maybe a couple of birds are sitting on his head and one refuses to move -- even AFTER he starts towards our POV and only departs when Ed goes full-auto. Ultimately, good stuff there. But layer the 'story' if you think it'll move the story forwards. Best-! D.A.
REALLY well produced! The ED-209 really looks like its standing in that parking lot. The lighting was so well done and its feet really seemed to be touching the ground, not sliding around like CGI does so often.
How I love ED-209, so intimidating, one of the best mech-like robots they have created for a movie, it is very realistic in the sense that it is not as complex in weaponry or very large in size as the more modern movie mechs , I believe that we could have a robot like ED-209 in one of these coming decades as a police robot that can calmly follow the law in the streets without having errors like the one we see in Robocop 1 (a complete savage).

The walk towards the camera would be enough to make any sane individual move like they got paid for it... So if they stand still they pretty much got what was coming to them...
cool, but shadow issues are breaking the immersion. The ED-209's shadow is lighter than the cars in the parking lot. When it takes a step the shadow under it's foot becomes darker than the rest of the shadow. The entire thing should be a uniform shade. Animation wise the steps feel light. I'd like to see more compression and weight after the step makes contact with the ground. And do not animate the toes before they make contact with the ground. They are anticipating the contact by moving into contact pose before they touch the ground. This is also making the steps feel light.

Judging from how awesome this animation is, they obviously spent a lot of time trying to make it look as good as they can. scetch wasnt rude, and the advice he gave is correct, so leave him be. If the content creator feels upset with him, let them handle it. they dont need you to stand up for them

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it might be a "guy in a suit" thing. But when I saw the clip, I honestly thought it was a proper build of a full-sized ED-209 model. The tracking and lighting in this clip are pretty much spot-on. Very nicely done.
What's sad is that if ED-209's were real they'd still be less guilty of police brutality than actual cops since as robots they would actually have all the laws programmed into them...

The shadows are off. The phantom shadow around the foot is most jarring because nothing should cast it in that light.
