I knew, because i made this clip (pun intended). i dont know how haircuts are done today but 55 years ago when I got mine, it was identical to what is depicted in the video
Billy Rife They couldnt have picked a better person to play Hartman, for that era. Right out of the DI playbook from 60s. R.L.was an actual D.I. I have a bootcamp book from one of his platoons.
It's a one of a kind sensation having all of your hair shorn like that. Lol, the faces are even better in the real life videos. Bzzzz, no guard. No mercy. Right down the middle. It all goes bye bye 123!
My uncle was a barber for the Marines back in the 60s and 70s. He used to tell me stories of the huge manes of hair he had to shear off. Some of the recruits cried, but they all got their heads shaved whether they liked it or not. The barbers called it Dipping Hippies.
Before joining the army I used to wear my hair long that was the style back then in the late 70s and early 80s but everything changed once I joined the army now after 3 weeks I have to get a haircut thanks to the army I feel uneasy with long hair.
The two guys in front of me had long shaggy hair and the drill Sargent's and barbers we're all over them screaming at them while getting their heads shaved. I smiled because I thought the wouldn't bother me because I already had a buzz cut. Wrong! They started screaming at me for tampering with government property. 1975 who knew.
Anche nel nostro reparto ( alla fine degli anni 70 ) si usava per le nuove reclute il rasamento quasi totale e veniva chiamato "COCKTAIL DI BENVENUTO " Forte no?
Who else knew this was Full Metal Jacket when they heard the first 5 seconds? 😄

Loved that feeling on getting a army crew cut in boot camp. I still get one every summer but I keep my full beard.

They didn't say put your finger on any mole or wart on your scalp. Failing to do so could end up with your first military "wound".
