That's why turbos are as good as they are these days. The technology has advanced greatly and are able to get more power out of smaller turbos now because their efficiency is so much better than it was in previous years
Yeah ever since the Garrett GT series was introduced there is not much reason to run a supercharged setup unless you REALLY have a soft spot for transient response.
With the boost curve of a centrifugal supercharger I don't know about having torque right now. But a positive displacement supercharger sure will give you that.
James Smith tong isn’t running a CT though he’s running a bigger, better, more expensive TVS now. The centrifugal chargers like these rotrex are far easier to install as well.
Larry Lampshade Garrett GT’s suck compared to the new Borgwarner EFR series, the EFR’s response is much better (best in class by far), and they spool a lot quicker due to newer technology and lighter more durable materials used. The EFR of a slightly smaller size spooled up 1200 rpm sooner then a Garrett GTX3076R and made 50 more whp at peak then the Garrett could on a FD RX7, again, it was SMALLER then the Garrett, made more power and torque... it also beat the Precision by 900 rpm and made higher peak numbers...

@@Mr15hz And simplicity/bolt on. from my limited experience Superchargers are real nice, elegant reliable power, but Turbo's seem to be good for 200 more hp a lot of times.
@@marshalcraft Not true. They did a head to head competition between supercharger and turbo down at Summernats in January. They both produced just shy of 3000hp @ the hubs!! 😈🤘
@@MafiaboysWorld well from theoretical point of view they aren't the same, a supercharger robs horsepower to compress air, while a turbo uses wasted energy to do it, so plane and simple a Turbo in theory is completely more efficient then a super charger. But seems turbos' are very touchy and what not while super charger is geared and has to work. So maybe in practice they end up being the same but, the fact is the turbo uses energy from the hot exhaust that is otherwise thrown away. The Supercharger takes rotational energy from the crank shaft and pistons, which otherwise goes out to the wheels. So like I said that is theory, and in practice that might mean nothing or even supercharger is better. They always use suerpchargers in drag racing so, there has to be some benefits to them maybe that I am unaware of, or it could be they are just simpler and they use that.
@@marshalcraft Thankyou for engineering 101, was not needed as I'm not 12. 🤦 The point being made was that at a similar boost level, they produce the same overall horsepower numbers taking into effect the parasitic loss that the massive 14/71 blower causes. 👍 I'll get the video. 😎
Why no torque curve ? Would be fun to see especially because its a compressor to compare to tho turbocharged ones. Or are you guys figuring the new stuff out ?
So what’s the update on the setup? Still running strong? I’m throwing a kraftwerks kit on my 9th gen 2014 si coupe and have a few questions before I do that if you can answer them please
I wonder if you guys could do a video showing how all boost isn't the same. My tuned 15' Passat gets 20 PSI but no where near the HP numbers of something like this Civic with less boost.
You have a big flow restriction which vw turbo products are known for since they’re more designed for torque in daily driving, you’ll need an exhaust manifold that flows a lot more, and some cylinder head porting. Every engine is one big vacuum pump...the faster it can expel the exhaust gases the faster it can inhale and flow more air with less psi of boost...I used to own a b6 1.8t and most of the guys would just run gt28 variant turbo’s as an upgrade which is still a decent flow restriction...you need something bigger like a gt3071 at least with the biggest Ar possible and a t3 flange 3 inch exit with a 3 inch of larger diameter exhaust depending on your goals...you will lose low end torque however in the vw’s with this kind of setup
I have a 9th gen si that I’m gonna put a kraftwerks kit on, 110mm pulley and e85 Guy in the vid said he’s running 1000cc, i guess the ones that come in the kit, so would the 1000cc injectors be enough for my case? I’m seeing whether or not I’d need high cc injectors to not max out the duty for a proper tune
Brother I appreciate you showing your expertise. Was wondering if you can show a k20 turbo hondata tune basics please?! Maybe you have some vids already, not sure I just joined your channel. God bless you brother thanks.

I have my kraftwerks kit sitting in my room waiting to get put on. I cant frickin wait till I put it on!!
@@fg2_sc718 update on the supercharger? (:
Hitting the rev limiter on a rotrex blower is a bad idea
Is this the C38 unit or C30 unit?
Hell ya brother. Da Ba Da Ba Daaa Basssss. Da Bassss.... lol reminds me of those old school awesome Bass Cd's they uses to make/sell lol. I use to bump them shits way back in the old days a lot of people might not remember way back then in the 1900's lol. I had a bad ass MTX bass Cd in like 1998-1999. The making of the Cd was made after the old times of the cassette tape lol. Some of yas might not have ever had a cd player in there car or even bought a cd from some classic spots like Tower Records or maby Strawberry's lol.
Great job guys wish I lived closer so I could have you guys tune my cobalt
Mnnnnn supercharged 4 cyls. So good.
Is there an upgraded version of the Rotrex head for 06 si that doesn’t break down as easy as the original?
Damn, the boost comes on quick with this supercharger, sweet numbers
That is kind of the point of a supercharger. Instant boost.
Dude. Sho nuff is so close. Please make the push to make the last T n T of the season!
Nice to see some more 8th gens on the channel!
If anyone notices the Dyno graph. Wow...that is nice linear power.
Grip-tek for those pulleys would help out a bunch on these!
So Brent, you didn't push the timing maps with the conversion of E85?? thanks, great vid!
That power curve is almost a straight line. You don't see that everyday.
Why no torque curve ? Would be fun to see especially because its a compressor to compare to tho turbocharged ones.
Or are you guys figuring the new stuff out ?
because this video was made before brent upgraded dyno.
thats a badass lil setup, definitely a sleeper
So what’s the update on the setup? Still running strong? I’m throwing a kraftwerks kit on my 9th gen 2014 si coupe and have a few questions before I do that if you can answer them please
What clutch you guys recommend that wont hurt the thrust bearing on the engine but still puts the power down?
What exhaust is this car running? Sounds nice and deep rasp for a K series
I have a 9th gen si that I’m gonna put a kraftwerks kit on, 110mm pulley and e85
Guy in the vid said he’s running 1000cc, i guess the ones that come in the kit, so would the 1000cc injectors be enough for my case?
I’m seeing whether or not I’d need high cc injectors to not max out the duty for a proper tune
I need my car tuned by you 😭 my car only making 410 with the e85 bov headers exhaust and a 90 mm pulley
Can’t wait to bring my 06 SI turbo to you guys.
This is the exact same setup my da dead on his mint 25k all original mile 08 civic si 2 door
Where in the Windows Vista were they racing at the end?
better power curve for everyday driving with the supercharger...
Brother I appreciate you showing your expertise. Was wondering if you can show a k20 turbo hondata tune basics please?! Maybe you have some vids already, not sure I just joined your channel. God bless you brother thanks.
Awesome, I've always wondered about supercharged Honda's. Looking forward to this...
Loved the new Dyno set-up video yesterday btw Brent, must be nice to see the effort you spent cutting out all that concrete pay off.
See alot of these in the UK especially on the fn2 and ep3 civic must cheaper than a turbo set up here.
@@beany1987 That explains a lot, I'm from the UK too. I think here it's about the ease of fitment, less welding therefore easier to do on the driveway. Ha, we have smaller houses and less space here. Plus some stricter laws and high insurance costs.
@@thisismossop yes things are alot more expensive here like the welding, dyno price range is £120 hour or $150 dollars that without a diagnostics fee is anything is wrong with your car.
@@beany1987 I bought a handheld scanner when I had my BMW, it wasn't cheap for a BMW specific one, but it saved me £450 the first time. Labour rates here might be higher too. Our cheapest high street garages are around $100 an hour.
So was that a C30-94 or C38-92 Rotrex? Very nice.. I have one on my Saturn SKY and love it to death.
who make those carbon door inserts
What year is that civic I know some came with k20a2 and k24 motors,my 2002 honda integra k20a made 245 just tuned basically no turbo
KOLE T RUCKAS needs a SUPERCHARGER
You are right..... Yes it does bro
nah. superchargers are better for circuit tracks not dragstrip.
@@Ehren1337 Do Top Fuel Teams know this?
+ 100shot nitrous 😁
Right on time for my lunch break.
killer pull at the end!
not often you can see a procharged civic 🤘
Can someone please build a early 2000s 1.7. everyone acts like the engine is junk, but it's my understanding it has forged lower ends and the non-vtech version doesn't have cam phaser issues.
Hey my supercharger blower lockup what can be causing that beside oil
Sir im form Philippines.. Owner of honda civic fd k20 engine.. How can i put power on stock k20 engine.
Will that compresser fit a 04 k24 crv what brand model is it ?
