Wonderful information. The US FDA is an absolute disgrace. Food recalls are happening constantly, AFTER the food is already inspected and on the shelves. The recent Boars Head lunch meat catastrophe happened with FDA Inspectors at the plant, they did nothing about the deplorable unsanitary conditions until people started getting sick. Since we can't rely on the government to keep us safe, we need more awareness of what to avoid. Thank you for this video.
Excellent comment! ❤ The seemingly endless recalls are disturbing. We started growing some herbs and veggies as well as buying produce and pasture raised organic eggs from a local farm. And due to the prevalence of a certain infamous herbicide, I purchase some organic items from the EU because they have a strict organic standard. Here the chemical has been detected on several organic crops including legumes, wheat and oats. This herbicide, a patented antibiotic, is also used as a preharvest desiccant. Reducing exposures to a plethora of toxins in food, water, etc is challenging.
These, including the soil in which produce is grown, are among the many food issues that RFK Jnr wants to tackle and I wish him much success, and also personal safety when he tackles the big corporations and big pharma. There's just not enough exposure to these real issues and your video is hugely impactful in shining a light on these terrible issues. Thank you Taryn for another outstanding video. Your presentations (all of them) are enlightening and encouraging.
The pastured ones get to eat bugs, and small animals. My husband’s grandmother said her chickens eat small rodents, lizards, and small snakes. Along with the feed she gives them… she tells us chickens are not vegetarian, they are omnivorous. So when chickens are kept in doors and only given grain, they are not eating their full diet of what they need. But they push it as vegetarian fed on packages, but it’s less healthy. Also some egg producers are looking into how to make the yolks more orange with adding things to feed because the consumers are becoming more aware and looking for orange yolks.
If you like to drink soda I’ve got a tip. Take fresh squeezed lime juice (1 to 4 limes), fresh grated ginger (to taste), two packets of stevia, and one can of seltzer water. It’s a homemade citrus soda. All the calories come from the lime, which means this is 4 to 16 calories. A coke on the other hand is 140 calories. It tastes better than sprite, won’t make your heart race, and hydrates.
I consider myself the canary in the coalmine when it comes to toxins in our everyday lives - I react quickish and I'm so sensitive (I stopped having any fragrance around me 20 years ago, for example). I eat mostly meat now because it's the only thing that doesn’t make me feel like crap (dairy, eggs, fish, and fruit are often ok enough, too). Seed oils are the #1 baddie for me. 30 years of migraines and headaches disappeared once I ditched them, plus back pain, sunburns, etc.
We stopped eating sugar (including hfcs or corn syrup) when my husband got a cancer diagnosis, since cancer feeds on sugar. We also cut out seed oils. I make my own bread now, and have ordered a grain mill and am going to get organic wheat berries and grind them to make a healthier flour. We get our eggs from people we know who have pasture raised chickens. Cheaper than store bought. We get raw milk from a local farmer. And we grow many of our veggies in our own garden. You’d think we’d live forever, right? 😊 Unfortunately we live in a flawed fallen world, and we are fighting against big corps and big pharma. We can only do our best.
It sounds like you are doing a great job! I would love to know how the grain mill goes - I am definitely going to be getting one myself sometime this year :)
I'm from the UK, even though our food is better, it's still full of nasties. These nasties cause autoimmune conditions. After clearing my kitchen of almost everything, I ate only meat, eggs and diary for one month. My arthritis in my knees and hands went away, I didn't have a single headache (was having them daily before), my pre-diabetes was no more, my depression and anxiety vanished. Everything here has seed oils in, so eating out is a no no, anything in a packet or jar is a no no. My food cupboard is almost empty, shop weekly for meat, eggs and dairy. Yes, I keep falling off the wagon by eating crap, but I keep getting back on it because I know carbs and all the other nasties are making me ill.
This is why a lot of people turn to carnivore. I don’t think for me it’s necessary but I realize when I eat bread even home made it swells my feet and legs but when I make sour dough it does not happen. For me something about the long fermentation helps, or the store bought yeast bothers me. I’m not quite sure but it is a big difference. I use the same flour/ and recipe just convert to sourdough so I know it’s not the flour it’s self. I thought about carnivore diet but decided to just eliminate things little by little and see how I do.
@@jamieromar6168Thanks for the info! I am trying to be a much more informed consumer, but it is hard! Especially in America with the worst control of the garbage that these companies put into our food! And our meds…heaven help us!
Yes!!! Similar for me! I also live in the UK and when I go home to the US I inevitably get sick unless I'm really careful to eat just the meat, eggs, dairy (and I sometimes have some low sugar fruit, such as pickles, avocados, berries).
High glucose corn syrup has other names so also look for these: 1. Maize syrup 2. Glucose syrup 3. Glucose-fructose syrup 4. Tapioca syrup 5. Fruit fructose 6. Crystalline fructose 7. HFCS (the same name, just the shortened version) 8. Isoglucose 9. Corn syrup 10. Dahlia syrup
I always say to shop the areas of the store that God created. While I love some junk food, others have changed the taste so much all your getting is a chemical taste. That's why I make all my cookies, brownies, and cakes. I know what I put in them. I do buy Egglands Best eggs. I noticed they aren't the best, but they aren't the worst. Any thoughts on this?
Fantastic video. After breast cancer surgery this summer I've become super vigilant about all these things that most people don't have a clue are impacting them negatively. This beautiful world has some ugly things.
Taryn - Great video on an important topic!! If I may: Another item that should have made this list is 'seed oils' - especially canola oil (if you can get through the government push websites - GMO'd rapeseed) . That cr@p is in everything - if you cut out seed oils and HFC you have removed over half of the processed 'foods' available in the US. Both of these were pushed into the 'mass' produced foods in the '60s & '70s - while 'natural' fats were demonized and processed oils were pushed (think $$) - At the same time the American obesity rate began to climb: 1971-1974: The obesity rate was around 0.5% (!) 1976-1980: The obesity rate rose to 15.0% -- 1999-2000: it rose to 30.9% -- 2009-2010: it was 36% for adults In the '80s exercise was a 'big thing' socially (aerobics, jogging, etc) so being sedentary was not the reason for increase; Do your own research people - if you get ill from what you are eating, there is always 'big pharma' to sell you a pill to maintain, not improve, your health. Even if you can't afford or can't find organics - try what I call the Bible diet - All things in moderation and foods closest to the way the Lord made them (no, there is not a Doritos tree).
And children! When I was a kid, I don't think I ever saw an obese child. Of course we were also never still - no computers or video games. We were outside, running or riding bikes all the time.
The is is great!!! You are making viewers more aware of the chemicals that are harmful to us… either ingested or applied to our skin…especially scented perfumes …. Make Humans Healthy Again!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Great video…. Knowledge is power, for sure… I’ve been a personal trainer for many years, I am 52… I was having stomach issues, and quit gluten and dairy for a few weeks… the changes were unreal!.. my skin cleared up, bloating went away, I slept better, etc I often say you do you, and choose what works for your own body/ health, but eating whole, real food I’d definitely a healthy path!..👍🤗❤️
People think I’m crazy for paying more for eggs and milk, but it’s because I want the hormone free versions. Funny that hormones bring the price down🤔 But yeah, one thing this 63 yr. old doesn’t need is more hormones😆
@@tarynmaria_ There is now farmers selling meat and dairy goods. One is said to be beyond organic. There's a lot of toxins in foods, not to mention fake foods, that many may not be aware of. Our digestive system is the frontline of our bodies defense. Futose can only be processed by the liver so we need to listen to our bodies. Everyone's body process things different because of different reasons. It's important to know your body's chemistry at the cellular level!!! Thanks for the video!!!
I went on a keto diet after I got type 2 diabetes, and my blood sugar went from 144 (bad) to 91 (normal). Also my blood pressure went from 140/90 to 110/70, total cholesterol went from 210 down to 175, triglycerides went from 185 down to 67. When you go keto with real food (not corporate keto food products), you get rid of most of those things you mentioned as well. Thanks for your research.
Great job, that is amazing! I know two people who did the same and reversed their diabetes. The crazy thing was, neither of their doctors told them reversing diabetes was possible!
Bravo for you reaching out to the company. I just work at Nestlé and they said that very few people actually take the time to write or call. So you’re representing a lot of people to feel like you do.
THANK YOU TARYN MARIA for putting this important info in a video!!! There absolutely is an undeniable connection between BIG FOOD & BIG PHARMA!! It's so disgusting. The "food" keeps us sick & the meds are pushed to make us better--a horrible cycle that actually makes us so unhealthy & ill.
Brilliant Taryn. This truly is a gut decluttering video! You have highlighted incredibly important issues. Another additive I avoid is 'palm oil' (think rainforest depletion for its cultivation) unless firmly accredited from an organic sustainable source. Others are gelatine (mainly from boiled bovine/porcine bones) & lactose of dairy derivation (causing eczema in some). These two especially seem to make their way into so many foods & pharmaceutical products respectively as bulking agents & capsules.
Great video, many truths. (And who else is not really looking out for us? -- the govt, the medical profession. You will find some real people in these institutions, but overall, we have to be very vigilant in everything!) (Added--I'm a nurse, I know what goes on in medicine.)
Thank you for sharing! Most of the sauces are made from these chemicals. It is really difficult to avoid unless you made everything from scratch. Not to mention even whole food are grown on less fertile land and sprayed with pesticides.
Great video! Just a quick update on MSG (monosodium glutamate) based on current research. MSG contains glutamic acid, which is similar to a neurotransmitter used by the brain’s nerve cells-called glutamatergic neurons-for communication. However, dietary MSG cannot reach these neurons in the brain because the blood-brain barrier blocks it. Unless the blood-brain barrier is already compromised, MSG won’t cause cell death or directly affect brain activity. Any neural firing patterns associated with glutamate in the brain originate internally and aren’t influenced by ingested MSG directly to the brain. That said, MSG may interact with the peripheral nervous system (PNS)-the network of nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. Some PNS cells, like those involved in sensory processing, respond to glutamate, and MSG might engage with these receptors. It can also influence gut-brain signaling, where the gut communicates with the brain via nerves like the vagus nerve. Glutamate receptors in the gut can respond to MSG, potentially affecting digestion or triggering signals to the brain. While these interactions are still being studied, they might explain rare, temporary symptoms like nausea, really bad headaches, or flushing your husband experienced (and I can imagine that was pretty unpleasant, he should definitely stay away from MSG, my goodness). Anyway, gut-brain signaling is interesting, and thankfully, these effects aren’t linked to any long-term harm. On the bright side, MSG has some real benefits. It contains about two-thirds less sodium by weight than table salt, making it a fantastic option for people managing high blood pressure or heart issues. Many doctors and dietitians recommend it for this very reason-low sodium, great umami flavor. As a neuroscience academic at Northwestern and aspiring physician, I wanted to share these updates as I continue learning about these everyday items and deepen my interest in preventative, integrative, palliative, and holistic care. I also loved your points about food dyes and high fructose corn syrup-spot on! I’d add trans fats to the list as well (thankfully being phased out in the U.S.-hallelujah!). And you’re absolutely right about those vibrant orange egg yolks in Europe-they feed their chickens carotenoid-rich veggies, while ours stick to soy and wheat. Major oof, indeed.
I have my own chickens. This is not for everyone, but if you can, I highly recommend looking into keeping chickens (or ducks, if you prefer, though they are harder to keep, imo). What I've noticed is, even among my pastured, free range chickens, the yolks will vary in color. This has a lot to do with their diets. Some egg producers will feed their chickens foods but they aren't necessarily healthier in other ways (for example, if you see "free range" on a label, that usually means they run around in a big warehouse, rather than in cages... Not necessarily outside around in grass). That said, deeper color yolks are generally a good sign of a healthier egg.
Congratulations for your fantastic video and clear explanations. I am also worried about the ingredients that are added to our foods. The best and easiest advice you gave us and that I try to apply always is "if is a product has a long list of ingredients with strange names do not buy it". Regards from Chile.🌹
Hi, Taryn- love your channel! We have gotten ourselves to eat only one ingredient foods- meat and fresh vegetables. Still things in there I’m sure, but anything processed likely has chemicals/carbs/sugar and bad for you. All sugar is unhealthy. Been life changing for us and reversal of high blood pressure, T2 diabetes and all blood markets healthy. Late 50’s and we are on no meds! Grocery bill cheaper and so tasty. We do enjoy an occasional piece of birthday cake or special holiday meals and then right back to it. ❤️
@@tarynmaria_ it wasn’t easy but once you get past a point it clicks somehow and then wonder how you ever ate any other way. I was/am a sugar addict so need to be careful. My husband however can have one cookie and be fine…. Me, I can eat the whole bunch in no time.😂 Thank you for this video. My approach to cleaning/decluttering has been leveled up from your videos!❤
Can you do a closer look into produce and meats on this topic? Which fruits veggies should we spend extra on for organic, is dirty dozen legit, I get grass-fed beef but what's the best chicken but not overpriced- should we get only organic meat etc ? Thank you
Fructose is banned in a lot of countries. I buy catsup and jam without it, among other foods. I'm with you...readyour labels. When my daughter lived in Canada i notived no "lite" foods like in the US. She explained that Canada has real food and people have fewer weight issues than Americans.
Thank you, very worthwhile information ❤ EGGS - ALWAYS look for “Certified Humane” label! Just “pasture raised” is NOT enough as it doesn’t guarantee the hens actually HAVE free access to roam about the pasture (big agribusiness deal they made with the FDA).
well cage free only means the chickens can go outside since the big warehouse they are in has the doors open pasture raised means that they are outside doing what chickens should do like eating insects etc
I really hope you continue to cover this topic and add it to your channel as a regularly covered topic! Despite having been buying non high fructose corn syrup and trying to eat natural I still had no idea of other names it could be hidden under different names, potassium bromate, and other things you covered. Aldi’s has a line of clean foods but I still scrutinize every product from my other store HEB. So informative.
First of all I want you to know I really enjoy your videos. This one was a real eye opener. I’ll tell you my experience. In about July the blue bell ice cream was on a great sale. I had not bought any in a long time because it had gotten sooo expensive! Well they’ve had it on sale ever since that. And I kept buying it. Now I’ve gained about 5 Lbs! I thought it might be from that ice cream. Your video probably proved it! I said all the time it was so addicting I craved it! It’s on sale again this week! I’m not going to buy it! I had not gained any weight for the last few yrs. Until now😔😒. Thanks for this video very much.
Thank you so much for sharing! You know what? I just checked the bluebell ice cream and it has a lot of high fructose corn syrup in it! I totally think it could be that rather than the fact of eating ice cream. Honestly, HFCS is horrible for weight gain!
@@tarynmaria_ Yes! like I said I had been the same weight for yrs eating anything and everything without gaining so yes I feel sure it was the HFCS. I'm anxious to stop it and see if I can lose the extra lbs.
Yes, this is very important! I’m european, so most of them don’t apply to me, but I did look up high fructose corn syrup because we don’t really use that over here and I wasn’t sure if it was because it’s banned, and I was chocked to find out that it’s not, and in fact is on the rise over here, so I need to be vigilant about avoiding that now! 😱 Also, I’ve never tried cheezits, so I don’t know how they taste, but I remember once trying a recipe for them and they were very easy to make and very delicious, so you should try making them yourself and see if you like them. 😊
Oh wow I didn't realize high fructose corn syrup was on the rise in Europe...URGH! Also, you are right - I did make homemade cheezitz once, and they were great ☺
I avoid all of the same things you've decluttered food wise, and also now always choose options not packaged in plastic when available. That's especially tricky and it's more expensive to buy products in glass bottles or jars instead of plastic, for instance, but forever chemicals are a huge concern.
Unhappily neither here in Europe, we do not have only grass eating hens. The most part of them are still raised in big halls with little space to move and fed with colorants to obtain the desired yolk color shade for sale. I also have to carefully select organic eggs and of course, they come at higher price.
I make my own bread from scratch from organic flour and sourdough starter to be healthier. It is so worth the time and trouble. If I really tried, I could mill my own flour to be even healthier. We avoid all processed foods and especially anything with high fructose corn syrup. Nothing you can buy pre made, i.e. more than one ingredient, is healthy. So many preservatives too that you have to wonder what that does to the body.
@@tarynmaria_ if you have chlorinated water, that might be a problem to start a sourdough starter and keep it going. I started mine with just flour and water and over about a couple weeks of care, it started to bubble. Try and find starter instructions with just water and flour. But store bought yeast works too.
Do you know what? I use olive oil. You can cook with it as long as you don’t heat it to smoking, and I also use it in all of my baked goods that call for vegetable oil!
@@MaCookie7 my husband has done a TON of research on olive oil and if you can believe it, the Walmart brand organic olive oil is the best! A lot of olive oils now are “blends” but the Walmart one is pure olives. It’s a bit pricey - $20 for 50 ounces but it’s the best value!
Bottom line: avoid processed food! You're absolutely right that the food industry is less about food and more about profit, unfortunately at the expense of our health and well-being.
I only counted 9, but here they are: 1) MSG and its aliases, incl. yeast extract, torola year, umami, autolyzed yeast, textured protein 2) "Natural flavors" 3) HFCS 4) food dyes 5) potassium bromate 6) TBHQ (preservative) 7) Eggs that are NOT from pasture-raised chickens. 8) Milk from cows treated with rBST 9) carobonated drinks (soda, pop) Many of these have been known poisons for decades.
Thanks for the great content! Almost every mass market cookie, drink, sausage, chocolate, bread are very plastic and chemical, we should learn how to apply the rule “less is more” in food choices. Like buy just one pack of very expensive French brownies made with actual butter and eat it slowly in days, than buy a bunch of cheap snacks stuffed with palm oil and eat them up in one sitting. I’m just learning. Gained 5 extra kilos while seizing stress with junk food, not with 2 pregnancies…
The strawberry harvest of the whole planet would not be enough to supply the consumption of strawberry ice cream in the USA. Did you know that strawberry flavor often comes from mould on saw dust? It's like the poop of that mold fungus. Bon appetite! The older I get the cleaner I eat. 20 years ago I read a book about food additives and how they lie to your body and brain. So I cut them out from my nutrition. I mostly cook from scratch, I drastically reduced my sugar intake (and now have fabulous skin!) and I eat vegan most of the time (and my joints stopped hurting). Thank you for adding the info if those things are allowed in Europe, this way I know what I don't have to look out for since I live in Germany.
I agree that you think "if it's sold in the grocery store, it must be okay to eat." What a sad situation that that's far from true. I love Center for Science in the Public Interest. CSPI has been a watchdog organization for many years, working to get the truth on our food labels and make our food safe. Thanks for this video.
Great video, thanks for sharing! Basically, one should try to only shop around the perimeter of the grocery store for whole, natural foods. Tough to do, but if it's in a box, one should probably try to avoid it. I believe Coors Light beer (and probably others) has High Fructose Corn Syrup in it... MSG - Many years ago, we had a Polynesian restaurant near work. They had a wonderful buffet and it was a popular spot to go for lunch and we often went with customers too. One week, I went two days in a row and after returning to work on the second day, I went into a fog...I couldn't see very well as it was though I was looking through a sparkler. I blamed it on MSG and it never happened again as I never did back to back days at that restaurant. MSG is weird stuff! I understand that artificial sweeteners cause an Insulin Response in the body and, despite being zero calorie, can still cause weight gain. Interesting info on eggs...I'll try to be more careful! Again, thanks for this video. I'm inspired to clean up my diet (again)...
The color of the egg yolks is because of what they eat when they graze. Some pasture raised eggs might not have a dark yolk but non pasture raised eggs can if they feed them something that will.
I have been saying for years that we did not have an obesity epidemic in this country until we started replacing sugar with corn syrup + it's in everything! Eat fresh or frozen products. And if you must buy soda, try to find the ones made with sugar. Pepsi does sell a 12 pack made with sugar. Cokes - if you can find a store specializing in Hispanic food, they'll have Coca Cola made in Mexico ( with real sugar)
I read Ultra-Processed People by Chris van Tulleken and it completely changed my perspective! (Shorter and free resource) He does some wonderful interviews about his book also to educate not to scare.
I heard about these toxins in the past but plastic is so convenient, thanks for the reminder I have started throwing out all the plastics, need to buy those glass contains with lids, out goes the air fryer, got a couple of glass cutting boards, bought yrs ago, got those out. thanls again.
Keep all glass jars of all sizes for storage and freezing food portions. (jam jars are great for single portions). For freezing DO NOT fill glass jars to the top since fluids expand slightly in the freezing process. Anything bought in a plastic packet (spices etc.,) transfer to glass jar asap for storage. ALWAYS ALLOW TIME FOR FROZEN JARS TO DEFROST NATURALLY SO PLAN YOUR MEALS AHEAD OF TIME FOR SAFETY OF USE REASONS.
I have lately become concerned about all the chemicals in our foods. One that concerns me is Mono-and-dicglycerides of fatty acids. It's a texturizing agent that can increase your risk of auto-immune disorders and mess up the good bacteria in your stomach. I've found this in so many items. I use an app called Yuka. It's not perfect, but it's not sponsored by any brands (that I know of), and it sometimes gives me better alternatives. Thank you so much for this video. It's really crazy what is allowed in our food! Any suggestions for greek yogurt without emulsifiers (pectin & gums)? Edit: I love Cheez-Its. Agh. Any alternatives suggestions?
Thank you for sharing - I am going to check out this app! And also - I have found that most organic yogurts don't contain pectin and other thickeners. I use the Stonyfield Organic Greek yogurt :) And for cheese it substitutions, I have sometimes get the Annie's Cheddar Squares, which taste almost the same!
I'm glad I'm not crazy. I stopped using soy sauce a long time ago because I thought I was allergic because I had these same symptoms. I was told from several sources that it was all in my head. I still have these same symptoms any time I consume something with MSG. So I've tried to watch what I eat and drink and eat out rarely because I don't enjoy going through this kind of experience. Thank you for giving me some peace of mind at 72.
I read labels and buy organic groceries for all the reasons you talked about. It’s expensive. No one should have to eat food that makes them sick, but lots of people just can’t afford organic food. And, those in government responsible for food safety continue to ALLOW harmful substances to pollute the food supply.
I find that the ultra processed food is the worst - and it's also more expensive than whole foods (ex. a bag of doritos v. a bag of almonds, or a box of prepared rice v. a bag of dried rice, etc.).
Ladies i know there's a lot of you watching you can make most condiments at home fairly easily. There's actually an entire sect on TH-cam dedicated to this kind of stuff
This is a great video. I am trying to break longstanding brand loyalty for my health. Please tell me a good clothes detergent. The one I use is blue and has a perfume scent.
Thank you! I have discovered that All Free & Clear is fairly ok - it's fragrance free, which is super important. I also really like the Blueland detergent tabs ☺
MSG does a couple things to me too and two of them are both a headache AND my face will have just enough of swelling for the next couple of days that I NOTICE something funny. I remember this because two weeks ago I used a chili style sauce instead of hot sauce for a few meals and OMG, my face looked like I gained 10 lbs or something and I had the headache. Yes too to racing heart... Edit, I randomly looked at the label a couple days after and yep, MSG.

Wow that is so interesting to hear! It sounds like you are doing such a great job of this!!
Glad i found your channel! Thanks 🙏😁💖
High glucose corn syrup has other names so also look for these:
1. Maize syrup
2. Glucose syrup
3. Glucose-fructose syrup
4. Tapioca syrup
5. Fruit fructose
6. Crystalline fructose
7. HFCS (the same name, just the shortened version)
8. Isoglucose
9. Corn syrup
10. Dahlia syrup
Yes, thank you so much - great list to look out for!!
I’m allergic to corn and it’s exhausting all the ways and names they use to hide it in our food.
It is high FRUCTOSE, not high glucose corn syrup. Get it straight!
@lauriesmith7517 either be nice or get off here. We all make mistakes, and I'm sure you would from time to time if you were in her shoes.
Fantastic video. After breast cancer surgery this summer I've become super vigilant about all these things that most people don't have a clue are impacting them negatively. This beautiful world has some ugly things.
It is very true - thank you so much!
Both of these were pushed into the 'mass' produced foods in the '60s & '70s - while 'natural' fats were demonized and processed oils were pushed (think $$) - At the same time the American obesity rate began to climb:
1971-1974: The obesity rate was around 0.5% (!)
1976-1980: The obesity rate rose to 15.0% -- 1999-2000: it rose to 30.9% -- 2009-2010: it was 36% for adults
In the '80s exercise was a 'big thing' socially (aerobics, jogging, etc) so being sedentary was not the reason for increase; Do your own research people - if you get ill from what you are eating, there is always 'big pharma' to sell you a pill to maintain, not improve, your health.
Even if you can't afford or can't find organics - try what I call the Bible diet - All things in moderation and foods closest to the way the Lord made them (no, there is not a Doritos tree).
Yes 💯 !
Yes so very true!! I might do a part two to this video because you are so right about the seed oils!
And children! When I was a kid, I don't think I ever saw an obese child. Of course we were also never still - no computers or video games. We were outside, running or riding bikes all the time.
The is is great!!!

Thank you so much for sharing!! ☺❤
People think I’m crazy for paying more for eggs and milk, but it’s because I want the hormone free versions. Funny that hormones bring the price down🤔 But yeah, one thing this 63 yr. old doesn’t need is more hormones😆
I agree - I want the best eggs and milk (plus we eat a lot of eggs)! Thank you so much for commenting!!
The beige-on-beige really brings out the color of your eyes and hair! Thank you for another nice video. Happy Saturday Auntie Taryn!
Thank you and happy Saturday!
Thank you so much!
Gosh. Thank you. Knowledge is power. Will be looking closer into all these everyday commonplace foods i'm consuming.
Yes - 100%!!! Thank you for watching!
So smart to avoid palm oil! Thank you for sharing ☺
I love all your videos and I thought this one was one of the better ones! I love this kind of info! Thanks!

And some myths.
Thank you for sharing! Most of the sauces are made from these chemicals. It is really difficult to avoid unless you made everything from scratch. Not to mention even whole food are grown on less fertile land and sprayed with pesticides.
Yes - the sauces are a killer! And salad dressings. I've been making my own as much a possible.

Yes I have the same symptoms with Chinese food as your husband does with the fajitas.
Wow, I'll have to tell him! Thank you for sharing!
Wow, thank you so much for sharing all of this helpful info!
This is so helpful! Thank you!
You're so welcome!
Thank you so much for sharing. One day I would LOVE to have chickens!
This video was great. Very informative. Thanks! I’m sharing with others.
Thank you so much!!
Congratulations for your fantastic video and clear explanations.
I am also worried about the ingredients that are added to our foods. The best and easiest advice you gave us and that I try to apply always is "if is a product has a long list of ingredients with strange names do not buy it". Regards from Chile.🌹
Thank you so much, Jeannette!!
Wow, great job! That is so impressive you are eating mostly one ingredient foods - this is what I am working towards but it's not easy!! ☺❤
Great video Taryn. Knowledge is power😊💪
Thank you! ☺
Can you do a closer look into produce and meats on this topic? Which fruits veggies should we spend extra on for organic, is dirty dozen legit, I get grass-fed beef but what's the best chicken but not overpriced- should we get only organic meat etc ? Thank you
Love this idea and have lots of thoughts on this!
Fructose is banned in a lot of countries. I buy catsup and jam without it, among other foods. I'm with you...readyour labels.
When my daughter lived in Canada i notived no "lite" foods like in the US. She explained that Canada has real food and people have fewer weight issues than Americans.
Thanks Taryn for the information.
You are so welcome!
Thank you, very worthwhile information ❤
EGGS - ALWAYS look for “Certified Humane” label!
Just “pasture raised” is NOT enough as it doesn’t guarantee the hens actually HAVE free access to roam about the pasture (big agribusiness deal they made with the FDA).
Thank you so much!
well cage free only means the chickens can go outside since the big warehouse they are in has the doors open
pasture raised means that they are outside doing what chickens should do like eating insects etc
I'm glad I live on a farm :)
I had NO idea! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I love vital farm eggs. I always buy them. They’re the best store bought. I also for years now buy organic milk. Horizon is a good one.
Yup - we love the Vital Farms and we've also been going to our farmer's market and getting eggs there!
Thank you Taryn 🤍
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for just doing what you do!
Thank you!
@@fayeadamson896 Let me know how it goes, I am sure it is the issue!
@@tarynmaria_I will ! I’m going to be keeping up with my weight for a while.
Also, I’ve never tried cheezits, so I don’t know how they taste, but I remember once trying a recipe for them and they were very easy to make and very delicious, so you should try making them yourself and see if you like them.
I SO agree - I am also trying to avoid these forever chemicals. Thank you for sharing!
Good advice,thank you!🍀
You are so welcome!
Excellent info!!!
Thank you so much!
Unhappily neither here in Europe, we do not have only grass eating hens. The most part of them are still raised in big halls with little space to move and fed with colorants to obtain the desired yolk color shade for sale. I also have to carefully select organic eggs and of course, they come at higher price.
Thank you for sharing!
For sure! And that is awesome about the bread, Ann ☺ I make my own bread as well but am really struggling to get sourdough starters to work for me!
@@tarynmaria_ if you have chlorinated water, that might be a problem to start a sourdough starter and keep it going. I started mine with just flour and water and over about a couple weeks of care, it started to bubble. Try and find starter instructions with just water and flour. But store bought yeast works too.
Yess we knew thanks u bought this up yhanks

Great video! I have used Canola oil in place of vegetable oil for years. Now I don't know what to use. 🥺
Do you know what? I use olive oil. You can cook with it as long as you don’t heat it to smoking, and I also use it in all of my baked goods that call for vegetable oil!
@@tarynmaria_ There are so many olive oils out there. Is there a 'regular' one or just pick a specialty one? lol
It is not necessary ever use oil for cooking. Sauté in water or broth. No oil is good for you.
Coconut oil is good for baking and sautéing some foods.
Thank you! This is very important. Americans should ask themselves why they should accept toxic products already banned abroad.
I agree!
well done, thanks
Thank you!
Bottom line: avoid processed food! You're absolutely right that the food industry is less about food and more about profit, unfortunately at the expense of our health and well-being.
Yes - processed food is so bad! :(
Appreciate this video. Thank you. Great reminder for us.😮
Thank you!!
So thankful I have a dairy farm nearby. My kids were able to grow up with hormone free milk.
Thank you so much for this video it’s eye opening

I only counted 9, but here they are:
1) MSG and its aliases, incl. yeast extract, torola year, umami, autolyzed yeast, textured protein
2) "Natural flavors"
3) HFCS
4) food dyes
5) potassium bromate
6) TBHQ (preservative)
7) Eggs that are NOT from pasture-raised chickens.
8) Milk from cows treated with rBST
9) carobonated drinks (soda, pop)
Many of these have been known poisons for decades.
Thank you!
6:55 So true! And it's so annoying!
What milk do you recommend?
And juice concentrate is sugar
Thank you so much!!!

Great point, thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing! I had heard that about strawberry flavoring and totally forgot!
😮I never knew that about strawberry flavoring! Crazy!
Grass fed milk! Pasture raised chicken and eggs...its still hard to find grassfed cheese. Idk about pork.
Thank you for sharing!
I agree that you think "if it's sold in the grocery store, it must be okay to eat." What a sad situation that that's far from true. I love Center for Science in the Public Interest. CSPI has been a watchdog organization for many years, working to get the truth on our food labels and make our food safe. Thanks for this video.
You are so welcome!
Wow that is so interesting to hear about the Polynesian restaurant! MSG is for sure weird. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for this video ❤

Have you ever read the book "Salt, Sugar, Fat"? I found it to be quite an eyeopener. Thanks for another great video!
You are so welcome and I haven’t read that book, but I definitely will check it out!
The color of the egg yolks is because of what they eat when they graze. Some pasture raised eggs might not have a dark yolk but non pasture raised eggs can if they feed them something that will.
Thank you for the video! And your hair looks exceptionally beautiful in this! 😍❤️
Thank you so much!!
Yes, for sure! We have to be so careful nowadays!
I read Ultra-Processed People by Chris van Tulleken and it completely changed my perspective! (Shorter and free resource) He does some wonderful interviews about his book also to educate not to scare.
Thank you - I will have to check this out!
Thank you. MSG does the same exact thing to me.
Thank you for sharing!
I heard about these toxins in the past but plastic is so convenient, thanks for the reminder I have started throwing out all the plastics, need to buy those glass contains with lids, out goes the air fryer, got a couple of glass cutting boards, bought yrs ago, got those out. thanls again.
You are so welcome!
You are so welcome! I have heard from a lot of people who have the exact same thing happen to them! It makes eating out so difficult :(
Thanks taryn

Yes!
What chicken broth brand is good then? Knorr and Wylers have MSG and Better than Bouillon has ingredients disodium inosinate and guanylate.

Wow! Thank you for sharing!
