  • Just a quick video about replacing the mower deck wheels on my Kubota with a low cost set from eBay. The OEM wheels only last about 2 1/2 years at $100.00 a set so I decided to see how long a $28.00 set lasts.

      The wheels for storage make it easy to move around and you don't have to worry about it falling over. Thanks for watching

    It's always nice to find something we need for a better price. Hope they last. Please wish your wife Happy Mother's Day for us. Looking forward to seeing your spring planting bed in bloom, I hope it comes soon. Thanks for sharing.

      The OEM ones are so expensive and do not last long so it is worth a try. I will tell her and Happy Mother's Day to you also. Looks like the weather is uphill from here and the next 2 weeks will be spent planting the garden. Have some cats that seem to be living in our yard now. I think someone dropped them off at the farm next doors. It is a mother and 3 large kittens that are killing and eating all the birds, chipmunks, squirrels, pheasants, and bunnies in our yard. We have to try and catch them to turn over to animal control . Life in the country is never dull . Thanks for watching.

    For what it's worth...PAINT the underside of your mowing deck with OLD OIL from an oil change.
    (At the end of the season AFTER you've cleaned the underside).
    The oil prevents the grass from STICKING to the deck and minimizes the amount of time required to do the annual "DECK CLEANUP". LOL
    BTW...nice choice of wheels vs. OEM's.

      I got lazy last year and put it away without cleaning it. took a wire brush to get it clean. I will have to try the oil at the end of this season. The wheels look nice for the price, hope they hold up. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the FYI video. My yard is rough, & I'm looking at my second set of gauge wheels in 2 years. Going to do what you did on your tractor. Again, thanks!

      These wheels are amazing. Still in good shape and the holes have only opened a little. Much better then the OEM wheels on my rough yard. Thanks for watching.

      I am still using this set and they should last a couple more years. Is your deck adjusted properly because the wheels shouldn't touch on a flat surface. 5x better then the Kubota wheels on mine. Thanks for watching

    A lot better price than what Kubota Wanted I hope they work out good for you we used to sell lawn mower parts years ago and most of them on eBay is either Oregon outdoor parts or stens parts and we sold them both and they should last easy a good year we never had no problem with them but hope they work out good for you have a great day and a nice weekend! Kioti Curt 😁👍🚜

      I think these were Oregon but there were no markings so they may just be copies from China. Those wheels take a beating on uneven ground. We will all see how long they last. Thanks for watching

    Hope those wheels work out for you and they last a long time. Sometimes you get lucky buying cheap stuff on eBay. I know I have. Tell your wife happy mothers day. Hope to see more videos since its getting warmer.

      Only 1 way to find out. The OEM wheels just don't last for what they cost. I will tell her. Thanks for watching.

    Im surprised the oem Kubota wheels arent designed with an embeded metal sleeve/bearing surface on the ID. If they came from the factory with a grease zerk. Metal sleeves with helical grooves on the ID of the wheel would of been a good idea. That way grease would actually stay. Hope it works out in your favor.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They just had some plastic bushings that don't last long. They do not have any way of holding the grease. On a nice flat level smaller lawn they would probably last longer. Thanks for watching.

    I buy aftermarket Deck wheels for all of our mowers I own a landscaping company and they seem to last as long as the oem wheels the biggest problem I have is employees hitting things and bending the bolt(Axle) of the anti scalp wheels. LOL Have a great week. God Bless

      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the price the Kubota wheels just don't last. There is no way to grease these but I don't think the grease helped the OEM wheels last longer anyway. Thanks for watching.

    Epoxy the axel sleeve in.
    Did that to my husky and they are going on 4 years now.

    7 1/2 acers? Buy some cows and an electric fence set up and a water trough. Then let them eat spring to fall. Then in the fall take the cows to the sale barn and take the fence down mow once more to clean up and spread the free firtlizer and kick back all winter. You will have the greenest grass in the neighborhood and cow money in your pocket. You could get you a woman and a bottle of whiskey every weekend all winter. Good luck 🌵 Happy trails.

      You make it sound so easy. I was thinking a couple of goats would also do a good job along with taking care of the poison ivy. Thanks for watching.

      Not a follow up but just showed how they stood up when I took the deck off for the winter. Mowed the whole summer with very little wear to the bores. They should last several more seasons. Thanks for watching.

    Good luck with the after market wheels. Lawn and garden dealers are just like car dealers selling over priced parts and service.

      I don't mind paying if something lasts, but the OEM wheels don't last even with constant greasing. The Kubota replacement parts are very expensive. Thanks for watching.

    Have you considered bearings, as the plastic has worn away putting bearings in would be easy and possibly last another year.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to make bushings but the axle bolts were shot and the acetal is expensive so that is what I decided to try. If there was room for ball bearings they could be fixed permanently. Thanks for watching.

    something has to give or youll beat the deck off-- like mine. ive been trying to level my yard with sand an compost. but u will need yards to do your lawn 40,000 sq ft????

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could never level the 7 1/2 acres that I mow. Each spring it would just heave again. Plus it doesn't help mowing as fast as the tractor can go. At least the suspension seat keeps me from getting jarred. Thanks for watching.
