The original Superior Spidey was one of my first ever legends, so this is special!
I love the narrow torso. Makes him look very heroic with his big shoulders.. the proportions are so nice
The reason why I'm glad we are moving away from the old ab crunch torso is because we don't have to see that horrible waist cut anymore. It's functional, but it just looks bad once you turn the torso around and it looks like a chunk of meat is missing on the waist, only time where it works is characters like Cable and Cyclops that have the belt to hide it. My preferred choice would be ball joints waist to go with diaphragm joint, but the reverse ab crunch for the waist is still better than the waist cut.
I never understood why people disliked the hip swivel, more articulation means better figure right? But it does make the figure look weird when their waist is sticking out lol
@@suhtangwong As you said the figure looks weird with that giant oval overhang. But it's a non issue now as double ball joint lower torso fixes that. When executed correctly it has a more organic swiveling with less break up of the design.
@@DesignIncaseit’s just sad that even when hasbro does use double ball, they don’t get the best range because the position and placement of the ball joint and hole is wrong, also the space within the torsos pieces aren’t as hollowed out as they should be for the best range
Three placement of the shoulders makes him look so good, how every figure in the future has this shoulder placement
After 10 years, we received a much better Superior Spider-Man

That old superior spidey had unique buck, years later they gave it another unique buck.
Imo, as awesome as this figure is, i wish they could have based this off the older s.s comics. The different lenses gave him a unique look. This just looks like Spiderman with guantlets and spider arms. Just m.o though. Im still getting it

That previous version was terrible. Brown eye lenses, no gauntlets, no mechanical spider legs. This is long overdue.

legends just gotta give legends the waist ball joint like the Joes, would help flexible characters to do some crazy work
Most Joes are able to have that because they've got a hip overlay, or are able to fudge it with their design. I don't think it would work well for most marvel designs like spiderman
Mafex makes use that type of articulation for marvel characters. @@the_royal_frick634

@ivanfrias2605 mcfarlane does the same thing as joes. But Mafex is pretty good with it, true. First, though, we should standardize having one at the mid torso before we ask for another. But one problem is that with figures that have a low age recommendation like legends, the internal cuts for articulation tend to be extra small, from what I've seen, and probably wouldn't be as good as mafex without modification. I'd definitely like to see it happen eventually though.

My thoughts on the narrow body is I agree but it also gives him a strong super hero V-tape which ryv spidey lacks.

Yesterday I put the Retro Carnage, Venom Movie Carnage and Superior Spider-Man in my basket. Then I had second thoughts about it because of shipping prices. Decided to go through with it today and they were ALL out of stock when I logged in :(

Why not try the lens reflection thing with a regular spiderman that has plenty of other heads at this point you can swap out? Why not give him the comic accurate thinner/darker lenses, even as an alt head?
Superior was the first comic run I read all the way thru in probably 15 years. That first figure was such a disappointment to me. This update looks amazing! Cant wait to get it in hand. Thanks for going the extra mile for the early review!
Great review my friend. The extra head can it fit the Ben reilly spiderman? Seems this goes more accurate than the huge big eyed one, some didn't like that head sculpt.
Hopefully they make him with his first suit on the renew your vows body.
Actually, the Dead No More/Clone Conspiracy storyline had Ben Reilly bring back all of the dead Spidey characters (including Doc Ock, who's mind was in the Living Brain at the time). After Peter and Ben fight, Peter uses his webware tech to destroy all the clones, but Ben had made a "perfect" clone free from degeneration. Otto transferred his mind into the body, making a Peter/Otto hybrid clone (comics logic) and then he took the mantle of the superior octopus.
It wasn't until the Spider-geddon storyline that Otto takes up the mantle of the superior Spider-Man again

Better than the original by quite a lot. Not very familiar with the character, so this is purely a "coolness" factor decision. Need to see it in hand, I think.

Yeah I’m not feeling it for the new one I’ll skip him. I’ll just stick with my old on he looks much better and comicy looking . The new one just looks too muscular and buffed and the head shape looks little wider. I love Spider-Man action figures when they look little skinny like the old days . Idc about new improvement joints and appearance I’ll still stick with my old one but overall I hope everyone enjoys the new one.
5:23 It's neat, but it only works if he's up high and swinging around. A strange thing about the alternate head is that the lenses are different shapes. So if you like the default's lenses but don't like the skyline, too bad. 6:55 Better Spider-Man 2099 in the future? 8:25 They should use Octopus's torso for the Sunfire body every now and then. 15:33 In Hasbro's promo images, they crossed the arms to get him to stand; top ones crossed over the bottom ones to the back and the bottom ones crossed under to the front. 17:00 Crazy to think that Iron Spider cost more, had fewer accessories, and less articulation in the waldoes than Superior. I like his upper body. For me, it's the bigger RYV legs that makes it appear small. The crotch piece is also odd because it makes the lower torso look long and has less muscle definition than the rest of the body. His obliques are high and the crotch is low. 20:41 Logan should only come up to Pete's jaw.

From a quick Google of some comic panels, it appears that the tips of the spider legs are supposed to curve towards the outside... which, thinking about it, it does make sense since a lot of bugs' legs tend to curve outwards.
Would've loved a headswap with the 2014 Superior since the new one doesn't come with black lenses

Its just weird they got the shoulders/arms nice, but still using the crummy ab crunch. Dont get me wrong, i pre-ordered this on day 1, but it feels like a easy slam dunk with all the accessories but they just did a lay up with the torso.
They used this body because of the backpack
@@hellothere_24 They have no problem retooling body parts. Adding a backpart port to the RYV upper torso would have given them an upper torso that they can reuse later on. This is just lazy because comic Iron Spider had this same problem, and they should have solved it here.
