I ask for prayers... My girlfriend and I are preparing, with God's help, to create a slightly more solid foundation before we get married. We live in Brazil, where the economy is difficult and living on just the husband's income is very difficult (really difficult)... It's a huge ordeal to move forward thinking about the number of children we will have and how we will support my future wife at home... I ask for prayers that we may be strengthened in faith and that God will provide us with the necessary means to live this traditionally Christian lifestyle...
I've noticed a significant positive change in myself since my parents transitioned me to homeschooling, particularly in my attitude towards God, which I now take much more seriously without the negative influences from school.
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." (Genesis 50:20) I was a public school teacher when the government shut down schools in my state. Now I teach in a home-school hybrid model (three days a week) at a private Christian school, delivering classical education to my small group of students. Of course, the pay and benefits are significantly reduced; but I am INFINITELY more satisfied in my work, and believe this model is a terrific alternative. Glory to Jesus Christ!
I so much wish homeschooling was legal where we live (Greece), but it is not...and the government has corrupted the public educational system so badly. You are truly blessed to be able to teach your own children!
I implore new homeschoolers to not look for handouts from the government. In Ontario homeschoolers do not get money and in return the government stays out of our business. There are new homeschoolers and secular ones who would like to trade their freedom for handouts. The provinces who receive funds have to report what they teach and some receive visits. How long before CRT and trans agenda is forced in these provinces for homeschoolers or they get a visit from child protection services?
I was Orthodox Christian Homeschooled. It is your responsibility to "Train your children up in the way they should go" parents! It is better to be poor and for your wife to stay at home and homeschool your children.
@@traviswilson36 that's dedication to want to visit West Asia. It's St. Mary's Orthodox Cemetery near the American University of Beirut in the Hamra District.
Homeschooling is great and everything but people forget that public school started as home-school. There never used to be a public school system, only "collective homeschooling" Why wont it simply go to shit again? Also you cant know everything your child is going to experience/be told, we must understand that this woke education is an anomaly in educational history. Homeschooling is a temporary fix, but the only real fix is to get re-involved in the established educational system.
Meanwhile Columbia Missouri, one of the larger towns in my area besides the Saint Louis area is fighting to keep accreditation because the children are testing so poorly.
It's not just the godless nature of public schools that's the problem; the quality of students' secular education is absolutely criminal. It's gotten so much worse than when I was in public school 20 years ago. High schoolers don't know where the Atlantic ocean is. They don't know who George Washington is. They don't know where commas go in sentences. They don't know their times tables. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the average high school freshman today is at the level of struggling 3rd grader from 20 years ago. The education system has completely broken down and has become little more than a public daycare.
I hear you. I graduated 20 years ago myself. The No Child Left Behind Act was one of the worst things to happen to education, at least while I was there. There was a stark, noticeable difference in how much I learned between the year before it was implemented and the year after.
Statisticly 80% of children who go to public school will abandon the faith of there parents. If we know what happens to those who cause little ones to stumble, for those who are not genuinely financially prohibited. In our particular culture homeschool is a must. We live modestly but have the joy homeschooling and it is nothing but blessings.
People need to chill about the pandemic. It was what it was. From a christian perspective it was important not to be controlled by fear but by the love of God for others. That sometimes means being willing to pick up your own cross. During the pandemic that could have meant making many different sacrifices. The scientific community largely agreed that staying apart greatly decreased the spread of a virus. Our governments listened to this and made their various responses to it. It doesn’t matter how we responded to all this as long as what we did came from a place of living in God’s love. Our actions should have reflected this love to those around us regardless of what it cost us. Also to stay on topic...I’m a full time homeschooling dad of three children, aged 2, 4 and 7. Its hard work, requires much patience and energy but it is a beautiful and worthwhile way to use the life I have been blessed with. I love the relationships I have with my children. I love helping and watching them each day become the people they are. Family is such a wonderful creation.
I have the impression this video is very much about the American situation of which I don't know a lot, but I would still like to call for a reality check. My country is Roman-Catholic, and the education is not too shabby, luckily. Homeschooling is allowed, however it is only feasible for the rich and the gifted. 30% of two-income households cannot make ends meet for basic necessities. How could one parent stay at home? Worse: how could one ever pay for a tutor (assuming there are tutors, which there are not). And then you also have to assume that the 'teaching' parent actually knows how to teach, has a talent for that, and also has a wide knowledge on a variety of subjects, deep enough to answer all questions until a certain age where it really becomes specialist matter requiring a lot of resources (I myself as a teenager received science education in laboratories) For those families who have a lot of kids like us: how would there be time? What do we do with our infants, who require constant attention and nursing? Most families these days are ALONE. There is no family, no parish outside of Sunday, no community, no help whatsoever. My wife is already in a post-natal depression because she doesn't know how to manage it all with older kids who actually go to school. There is a great need for practical guidance in how to manage a family these days, as tradition is simply lost.
Even charter schools are only temporary because they are constantly under pressure from teachers unions and bearocrats. The charter school I went to for middle and high school started out fantastically competitive, but by the time I graduated it was whittled down to ghetto daycare. Homeschooling at co-ops is the only choice.
Homeschooling is NOT the answer. Church school is. Speaking from experience. It's not just a matter of curriculum. Not all parents are capable of being good teachers. However, if the parish comes together, those who have the gift of teaching can teach all children while others can support the school in other ways. Perhaps some have homes that can accommodate school activity better than others'. Just like by baptism, we are all spiritually ordained into the "royal priesthood," but that doesn't automatically make us able to be parish priests and our homes don't automatically become suitable for being temples. Church community should be a model how to conduct all other activities. That used to be the case until not that long ago.
Thank you, Father. You're the best ❤ We use the Christian curriculum named "The good and the beautiful." My wife is a highly qualified teacher and she recommends it.
We also use this curriculum for Math and English and would highly recommend it...however...It is actually created by a member of the church of the Latter Day Saints. I’m not sure what people on here think about this church as being representative of the Christian faith? That is for you to decide.
Thank you Father ☺️Watching from Darwin Australia, Can I please ask do you have any Particular Books you would recommend for young preschool age children? Thank you 🙏
Should high school aged teens be homeschooled too? What about poorer families who can't afford to live by one income or to send their kids to a classical school? Also, I want to become a teacher at a public alternative school but if public education is wrong then I don't want to be a part of that so should I not?
Does anyone have a book recommendation on the saints that would be suitable for 12 yrs old kids? Would love it to be simple but engaging with a page or two on each saint. Pictures included if possible. Thanks.
We're in our 8th year of homeschooling. My prayer for new homeschoolers is that they remain independent of the government, and the options that may be out there as a "benefit" from them. There aren't many, but seasoned homeschoolers want to continue to remain free from government regulations on how we homeschool our children.
Will be bring home my wife and step-daughter this summer from Indonesia. I REALLY do not want to send our daughter to public school.
