    FINALLY more people are addressing the issues with apple keyboards. All my friends prefer it because they look "clean and simple" but I think the typing experience is so rough. There's just little to no response from the keys for all the effort I put into typing on them. Sigh. Need more keyboard friends.

    Vintage apple keyboards are really cool, they were fully mechanical and pretty well built (compared to the magic keyboards we have today). Also used a more standard layout most of the time.
    Kinda sad that Apple decided it wasn't worth it to keep manufacturing them

    I didn't realize this was a surprise? Didn't the 2017 MacBook Pro have one of the worst keyboards ever made in history? The one where if a small piece of dirt got inside the entire mechanism would break? And Apple would refuse to honor the warranty, instead posting a "support" page showing people how to use compressed air to clean a keyboard treating their customers like they're morons? I've tried one before, as a keyboard it's about equal to an Atari 400 membrane in typing experience.

      @@Mewcaloid the butterfly switches are the worst switches on a keyboard period. I actually taught that people were exaggerating it and was like, "there's no way that an apple branded laptop keyboard can be that bad, it's just a keyboard". Until I tried it and yeah, it's completely shyt. There's no travel at all, I can barely know if I pressed a key or not since there's no tactile response from it, it just feels like a virtual keyboard from a phone but without the vibration feel.
      If you are looking for an upgrade, I recommend looking into the MacBook Air, unless you specifically need more power/cores, you don't need the pro 14/16 models. PS: don't get the MacBook Pro 13, it's basically the same specs as the Air but with a touch bar and a much higher price tag

I work across Mac/PC/Work/Persona so I needed a better solution. I just got mine in and the feet and the case are kinda magnetic, it could be stronger but I am satisfied. My only initial issue is that the legends on they keycaps look a bit off, especially the D. It might be the visual alignment wasn't adjusted to human perception and they just aligned them directly top to bottom but I am too lazy to string parallel lines on a table to measure. I totally agree out of the box it had a decent sounds pre-mod but I'll definitely be getting some lube on those stabs and the switches...once I figure out how to do low profile switches without ruining them.... I'd LOVE it if you would do a mod and see if there are other switches and keycaps might be nice in it and like which mods work well. I am kind of new to low profile myself

    9:10 for the feet i think you should press it in the mint feet so it "sticks", there's like a footing for it. And for the case it is magnetic, there are three sides of the case and one of them is magnetic.

    The most tactile and nicest feeling keyboards on mobile devices I’ve felt are just the Surface Pro Type Cover (probably the same for all Surface devices) and ThinkPads. Of course true mechanical keyboards will always be better but conveniences kinda win over just pure typing experience.

    Magic keyboard feels better than the keyboard on my 14in MBP, which has approximately 0.01mm of travel and actuates with about 0.001g worth of force.
    Don’t get me wrong, I can type plenty fast on it, but it takes me a while to adjust and not be slamming the keys with way more force than required. The magic keyboard feels like a more normal laptop keyboard to me and I don’t have that adjustment period.
    Apple does need work on their keyboards. I can still hear the sounds of the Apple IIE keyboards being clacked away in computer lab when I was a kid.

    4:20 They discontinued their butterfies bc they got a lot of hate, these have a longer 1.2mm-ish travel and uses a rubber dome + scissor switch mechanism. I bought one 3 months ago, found out about custom keyboards and i found out (the hard way) that you dont need to pay 300$ for a shitty keyboard when you can build one to your own preference at (possibly) less than half the price. *It's totally a good deal? right???????*

    • @ducpham1478
      @ducpham1478 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean like my custom keyboard is like 50ish $ and it's just amazing for travelling around.
      That's 1/6th the price of a glorified keeb but actually looks & feel nice, and definitely serves me well.

    I use Apple macOS devices, but in terms of keyboards, just “sleek and sexy” don’t cut it for me as they hardly have ANY travel… unless you are lucky enough to have an A1048 unit which, even though it may be membrane-based, it does have a decent feel. SUGGESTION FOR THE SWITCH AND CLICK TEAM: While you admit the only Apple device in your inventory is an iPad, you may want to consider obtaining a macOS unit and provide further tests of keyboards for that customer base… also for macOS-specific keycaps which not all keycap manufacturers carry! Good work as always otherwise. Thanks for sharing!
