My dad, before he passed away, would remember when he took me and my brother on a hot summer day to see this. The air conditioner was on the fritz so we sat there. Just the 3 of us and laughed our asses of as our candies melted in our hands. Back then we had 3 movie theaters in our town and this particular on was literally a buck and some change to see a movie. Miss ya pops.
RIP
yea I remember coming with you, great day, great man
That’s a GREAT memory.
That’s so sweet. Thank you for sharing. It’s wonderful the great memories that this movie seems to provoke
I love that story, this film has some great memories for you then.
Ready to feel old? The Sandlot was a retro throwback to a time 30 years before it came out. If we made a similar movie today, the same 'retro' throwback time would be 1991-the year before this movie came out 😭
Well, you've ruined my day. Hope you're happy.
Bro why? Like I was thinking it, but you don't need to say it!
And next year in 2023 will be exactly 30 years from 1993 and 60 years from when it was set, time to set one in 1993 😁
🤯
Liar thats not true.. they did a reunion 25 years later, 4years ago now.. so it was shot in 1993
Even though I was around 27 when The Sandlot was released, I always felt like this was very similar to Stand By Me and reminded me of my youth growing up in the 70s. Just a long gone period when kids played outdoors.
Hope you're all fine and well Marc
@Jacob Quirke things were better in his day. Unless you consider being locked up away from human interaction over a virus a better time than the 70s. Oh yeah, the fact that social interaction has been on the decline cuz people can't get off their phone for 5 minutes? Cancel culture? Mass riots? Yeah, such a better time man! And this is coming from a kid born in 2000
Some kids still play outside these days! In my city at least, we see them playing on the street when its nice outside
@@mattc7005 yup cancel culture means you can’t go outside? And unless you live in Portland no riots are gonna stop you. Really all old people wanna do is make themselves feel better about them watching tv all day as kids
@@mattc7005 friendly reminder that interracial marriage was illegal till 1967… so not everything was better lmao
Let’s be honest, this didn’t get recommended, you searched for this.

I was six when this came out, I’m 35 now and this is still one of my favourite movies ever. I watch it every summer but now with my sons ❤
Same! Except no kids. Too many already.
Benny The Jet Rodriguez
This was the movie you watched every day in middle school
I wasn’t born in ‘93 did You know the The Sandlot was based on the director’s childhood life.
I saw this on my last day of school.

Plaaaaay baaaaaaall... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not funny in the slightest.
My mom introduced me to this when I was about 6 or 7 and I still considered it one of the best cult films ever made.
Haha....same! My mom came home with a few tapes she got at the movie house and this one is just for you. Funny thing is I remember the whole family sitting down to watch it. Such a good movie and good times back then.
I never considered the Sandlot to be a “cult” film. It’s just a classic among classics.
This is a childhood classic, even in my country where we know nothing about baseball we love this movie. Thanks USA for this memories. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
I am Argentine living in the US for quite some time already and still know nothing about baseball and I really don’t think that is going to change.
Great movie. I agree on that.
Coming from an American: you don’t have to be American to appreciate/play baseball! Baseball is for everyone! ❤😊
is movie is more about growing up, making meeting friends, endless summers.
The kid actors were all great in this. And excellent, realistic dialogue for kids that age.
One of my all time favorite movies. Idk how many times I watched this when I was younger. Nostalgias such a bittersweet thing!
I wish I had gone to see this movie when it came out in theaters back in ‘93. Idk how I could’ve possibly missed out on this one. I saw Rookie of the Year in theaters but somehow missed this one. But now years later it’s my favorite baseball movie. And I will challenge anybody who dares to throw shade at this film. And I had the privilege of meeting two of the Sandlot boys several years ago. I got to meet Yeah-Yeah and Timmy. I met them attending my first Thomas Nicholas concert, so I met them and Henry Rowengartner.
It was fun. My friends and I were a little older than these characters at the time. We were already in high school. But we were still pretty serious about our baseball. We played with a group at lunch every day at school. We put together pickup games or sandlot style baseball whenever we could. Often box baseball on a wall behind our high school. Then we went home and watched the games on TV. A couple of times a year we took the trip to Toronto to see the Jays. Our team won the division in 1989, 1991, 1992 and 1993. The Jays were the team at the time. The Yankees still weren't very good. Toronto didn't have the Raptors yet. Three from our group work for the same company in Toronto now. Just in different divisions. We run into each other from time to time.
It's late April 2022, I'm 47 years old and I just watched The Sandlot for my first time!!
My life will never be the same again.
I just watched one of the greatest masterpieces ever made and wod did l l💗Ve it 😁😜
U must not be American
Better late than never! ❤
I've never been able to tolerate it.
Been searching for this movie for 11 years
finally found it,
IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES
This just unleashed a memory I never knew I had .
This and Rookie of the Year are both turning 30 next year and they are still two of the best baseball movies of all time. The only other baseball movie that comes close to them, imo, is the Perfect Game.
Bull Durham, Eight Men Out and A League of their Own. Also, Little Big League.
Angels in the Outfield is a classic as well
Oh what a time to grow up, life was great those days
“Plaaaaaayyyyyyyy Ballllllllllllll”

Grew up ina culdesac with 6 boys around my age. Older was maybe 3 years older than me and the youngest eas 1 year younger than me. I’m grateful to say I lived the sandlot movie with those boys. Lifelong best friends till this day we all talk! I know some people wish they grew up with a childhood like this movie. I’m extremely grateful this was my child hood. I remember first time I watched it was during an indoor recess because it was raining outside brings back memories
One of the best movies I've ever seen
I remember watching this movie in May of 2021 with my husband. We both had seen the movie before, but that was the first time we ever watched it together. We had just moved into our first apartment together as a married couple and hadn't even finished unpacking yet. I will always remember that.

Did anyone get forced to see this three times a year in elementary school? Or was that just my exclusive pleasure growing up
Just yours, nowadays you need to sign a permission slip for everything because everybody is so sensitive.

Stores needs to stock up on the Sandlot on Blue Ray and DVD
I owned it on VHS when I was a kid. I think I was 11 years old at the time.
I woke up this morning with the song tequila stuck in my head as soon as I opened my eyes LOL then I started reciting the whole movie
They need to do a sequel with kids as adults and probably would take place maybe in the early 90s
Please God, no more sequels, prequels or reboots. Just leave stuff alone.
I love how his big insult is "Well you play baseball like a girl!!"
I had the pleasure of seeing this at a drive in last summer for it’s 30th anniversary double feature with The Goonies. Absolutely loved the experience.
Loved this movie and teared up like a baby in the end
Now this is some pure nostalgia
This movie is like Home Alone meets Field of Dreams.

my favorite movie hands down
It's incredible. I'm sitting in my house in eastern Poland and watching a trailer of a movie from the USA on my computer, and my grandmother had to leave the house when she wanted to use the toilet, she didn't have a phone at home, there was no radio, she saw with her own eyes how a german grenade killed her brother and I, without leaving the house, watch the movie, incredible.
This was my childhood
I honestly enjoy this kind of movies and I'm a 2000 kid lol
I use to watch this alot in my 3rd standard..😊
One of my favorite movies!
