    I’ve always dreamed on going on one of these services...been on the Bathurst bullet (in what ch is pretty noisy due to Diesel engine and no sound dampening), there are 2 services (from my experience from Penrith) an afternoon around 3:45pm and around 7pm (so arrives around just before 9pm)

      Yeah next time I catch the XPT train I will go in Economy. There doesn't seem to be a big difference between Economy and First Class when it comes to leg room so I think those economy seats are just as comfortable. The money I would have saved would have paid for my breakfast!

      Nope. These XPT trains were built in Australia.

    • @Martindyna
      @Martindyna 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The XPT power cars are based on the Class 43 but with numerous modifications for Australian conditions including long travel compliant suspension (to handle the poor track); double the engine cooling and better air filters to address the hot dusty conditions; with lower geared traction motors to handle the long steep gradients (hence the reduced design speed 160 km/h), stronger nose, more business like horn and claimed better weight distribution than Class 43. The stainless steel skinned Cars are based on an American (Budd) design. Checkout `XPT by COMENG' (3 videos) here on TH-cam if interested.
      N.B. COMENG is unfortunately no longer in business which probably made a further refurb of the XPT less of a goer, the new trains will be made by CAF, Spain and amazingly do not feature Sleeper accommodation. They are, i understand, DEMUs and will therefore be more noisey than the XPT but with better power redundancy.
