My biggest watch buying tip when using eBay (or any other auction site), is the "art of shilling". When a seller uses another account name to artificially drive up the price by bidding against you or others. Be aware, be careful. Otherwise, happy bidding! There are some very great deals to be had. Great content Oleg! I'm happy to have your content because you have to deal with the Canadian perspective of the sites (eBay, import duties, shipping times, etc.)
Congratulations Oleg! Hope we get several more years of great videos from you! So your the guy I keep losing bids to in the last seconds of an auction! Hahaha😉😄
Hi Ray, I thought this might be a suitable spot to put another "tip" out there for thought. I think both of you have the right idea for "snipping" when you want to win that special auction on eBay. It really is probably the best way to grab that item. My biggest problem is the systemic "shilling" that happens within the watch auction community of eBay. Many private sellers are bidding against themselves and a single bidder to artificially drive up the price of their watch. Just food for thought. Regards.
I've seen loads of seikos and citizen watches from India for like £15. At first I was tempted but then I thought it can't be right for the price. Have you had experience with it?
@@keilflaherty227 Yah man, I got fucked. 2 watches for $14 is not too bad. I'm going to tear them apart and learn a little. Are you in Ireland? I'm thinking of looking at my heritage.

Last second is where it’s at, but be sure to bid your MAX max, because if another bidder came in end just a dollar or two higher than your bid, they’ll win and you won’t have a chance to go higher. Probably a good thing to stay unemotional about the bidding process, too, so you don’t get tempted to keep inching up beyond what you logically feel your max amount is. Never understood people who get into bidding wars with days left in an auction.
Happy anniversary, Oleg! It's crazy to think most of these tips should be common sense, but not everyone does them. Thanks for helping the amateurs out!
Congrats on the one year!!! When I buy watches, I take risks when purchasing from Eastern Europe (Ukraine) and Asia. I have been lucky and Ebay has been awesome if there are any issues.
This guy was selling two automatic watches in car boot sale for €25. He was offered €15 only, but diden't sell. He went to a jeweller who told him to sell them on eBay. He got €160 for one and €85 for the other. Theres very few bargains to be got on eBay watches. They had to pay the postage as well. Really top price.
Well done Oleg on your channel anniversary , it amazes me how you guys find the time to review , research and reply to comments AND get on with your normal day to day work life etc - I'm glad however that you do. Another interesting video from you and lots of useful tips in there . I'll use some of those next time especially looking a bit more closely at the sellers feedback and I hadn't seen how you can check the prices on previously sold items before. Big thumbs up to your channel from me.
Thank you Tom! It's tough to balance everyday life and to run this channel. But I enjoy doing it and love the community that we have built. All the best, Oleg.
I like to find a seller that doesn’t normally sell watches. I have been lucky to be pleasantly surprised with someone liquidating an estate. I have made crazy low offers and picked up some steals.
Good video, I just lost an auction yesterday for a vintage watch by submitting my bid with about 45 seconds to go. I thought it would win but someone else outbid me with 5 seconds to go, I hit the automatic bid button but that turned out to be below the counter-bid. On further reflection I think the watch wasn't in quite as good of a condition as I would have liked and at least the other guy payed almost $800 more than he thought he would.
My tip would be to look at the other potential buyers numbrr of purchases. If you think a watch is going cheap, it is a good sign when the heavy hitters think so as well. I was bidding on a very rare seiko that looked terrible but it sold for $459 to a guy with over a thousand feedback.

Ebay feedback does not necessarily provide a true picture. You can have a terrible experience with a seller, spend hours going round and round with the seller and ebay to get your money back and ebay will remove the bad feedback you left if they are able to force the seller to return your money. This is exactly what happened to me with an expensive vintage watch purchase that went bad. There is no warning left that you are dealing with a crook. If a seller lists an item as no return ebay locks you out from trying to return that item or open a case even if you have been cheated. Just one question. How do you deal with automatic bids or hidden maximum bids from other bidders that you are trying to win against. First time I hear Colombia and is not positive.... So sad...
Nothing agains Colombia or the people. Buying from Eastern European countries like Ukraine (where I'm from) is also high risk. All the best, Oleg.
