- My good buddy Guy Lopes over @TAWPTool kindly sent me this gift which was made by @joepie221 over at Advanced Innovations. I put it to the test this week with a friendly competition with my high school engineering students. They had an absolute blast testing their skills and all found it very challenging.

A big "Way to Go" to all the students that tried it. It really is a good way to master those cranks and get your heartbeat up. For the record, 2:28 is about an average time to get through it, and 46 seconds is the fastest time ever recorded. A very respectable time is anywhere around 1 minute. Thanks for the video. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Stay well.
G’day Joe. May I commend you on making such an innovative and exciting learning tool. I had no idea that it would be so much fun. As you can see my high school students (mixture of year 10 & 11) had a blast doing this. Seriously Joe, I’ve never seen them so engaged on the milling machine before. It is an excellent confidence builder too. Thanks again Joe for watching and commenting mate. Warm regards from Downunder. Aaron
You’re welcome my friend! I’m glad to see you and the students enjoying it. Cheers!
G'day Guy. Thank you again for your lovely gift. I took this to work on Wednesday and gave the challenge to the high school students. They had absolute blast partaking in this game and were really addicted to it. I never knew it could or would be this much fun. Cheers, Aaron.
Thanks for another beaut video mate. That looked like a bit of fun while testing them out. Have a good one 👍🇦🇺
Thanks Mark. It really was a fun activity and they loved it. Cheers 🍻
Hah, glad the kids enjoyed it. That's the whole point of the maze, have fun in the shop. Thanks Joe Pi and Guy.
G’day mate how’s it going? It really was a lot of fun and the students absolutely loved it. Such an excellent invention that Joe came up with. Not wrong, it was very generous of Guy to post that all the way from Texas to little old me Downunder. Cheers 🍻
They did great! Definitely increased the difficulty with such a large probe in there. Signing your name into a piece of metal is a fun one too!
Hey mate. Thank you 🙏, yes the high school students did very well. It’s a very clever invention of Joe’s and excellent test of skills. Thanks for watching. Cheers 🍻
Absolutely fantastic buddy, and well done all those keen students
G’day Ralfy. Great to hear from you mate. Thanks so much, we all a blast doing this maze and me filming taking the piss out of them when they crashed. Cheers buddy 🍻
I'm glad you posted this.....I had no clue what that was for. lol Great video buddy!!
G’day Mike and thanks buddy. It’s a very cool project & activity that Joe thought up. The high school students absolutely loved it. I had fun too. Cheers buddy 👍🍻
What a cool test of skills...after manually making the 1st crummy worm gear I realized the value of having the 2 handles as close as possible to each other...of course it was the X and the dividing head crank, but still a big challenge....nothing like the coordination needed for a maze
Hi Craig how are you buddy? Yes it’s a really cool puzzle 🧩 and a clever idea. The students had lots of fun. I’ve been keeping an eye on your progress with metal planer. You’re doing a great job 👏
A great teaching aid.
Drop a marble in the slot and push it around the maze.
Students will remember that lesson.
G’day Chris. That’s another good idea mate. You could use a timber dowel to force the marble around. I like your thinking buddy. Cheers 🍻
Awesome day with the kids thanks for the video
Thanks Frank. The students really enjoyed this activity mate. I appreciate the support mate. Cheers 🍻
I love the workholding method! I need to get one of those mazes, they're a-maze-ing! 😁
G’day Olly and thanks mate. Yes I used some Blu Tack to hold it in place. That way if the probe got forced too hard it would move and not brake it. Then I couldn’t get the probe to work, because I had no metal to metal contact 😂. Hence the t-slot cleaner under it.
@@AaronEngineering I see - that makes perfect sense.
Looks like you all had good fun while getting a feel for the machines controls. Tony
Hi Tony. I have to say this maze is an excellent learning tool for beginners. The students had so much doing this. Cheers 🍻
Great stuff Aaron, I learnt the hard way losing end Mills and scrapping jobs, much to the disappointment of my employer lol. Great to see the kids having fun! I only wish my teachers were allowed to make learning fun like you do, hats off mate, the kids will remember you for life!
G’day Jon. Thanks mate, we really had fun making this video. Especially taking the “piss” out of one and other. I couldn’t believe how engaged they where doing this. Cheers buddy 👍🍻
My only disappointment is not seeing " The Big Sensei" showing them the WAY.
Great bit of teaching.
A very wise man from Corndale NSW once told me, “ those that can do those that can’t teach”! 🤣
G'day Aaron. Great to see the students have a go, not easy I reckon.
Cheers
Peter
Hi Peter how’s things. Thanks mate, the students had fun using it. Cheers mate, Aaron
That's the way to go to learn witch way to crank. I should do the same for myself.
G’day Rusti. Joe’s maze is a very clever idea. The students had lots of fun using it. Cheers 🍻 Aaron
Working on basic skills and having fun while doing it. Can't beat that
G’day Tom. Thanks buddy it was a lot of fun and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers Aaron
How awesome is that, great skill tester
Thanks Matty, it’s a real cool piece of kit in the students had a blast using it. Hope you’re well mate talk soon cheers
good day that day, looked like great fun
Hi Kimber how’s things buddy? Yes mate the students really enjoyed it and we all had fun making the video. Cheers 🍻
Well done Angus. What was your time Aaron? I'll practice when I get home.
Thanks Preso. Hey what’s that? Do I feel a inter-channel competition in the making 😂. Challenge accepted.
PS: I’d cheat and put it in the CNC mill and have Dianne film me on the manual crank handles to make it look like I’m doing it rofl 🤣
@@AaronEngineering nah! Bridgeport only. DRO turned off. But let me practice first. Be home in 2 weeks.
Great fun Pops
Thanks Ricko. Hope you’re well buddy? Cheers 🍻
@@AaronEngineering Yeah just got out of hospital where I had double lung pneumonia and also a Heart Attack with 2 arteries fully blocked at 100 percent... Take care Pops....Ricko
@@ricko5123 OMG Ricko. I'm so very sorry to hear this mate. Thank god you're out of hospital and back home recovering. Take care and look after yourself buddy. Cheers, Aaron.
That's a clever game
Thanks Rus. It really was a lot of fun. I believe Joe invented it for the 2018 Bar Z-Bash. Read the comment Joe left as he said the fastest time was like 48 seconds. I need to do it now and test my luck 😉
Hello Aaron,
I don't know how I managed to miss this video (SORRY)... get stuff with the students...
Take care.
Paul,,
Hi Paul how are you? Oh that’s ok mate, I totally understand. I haven’t been on TH-cam for weeks. I’ve missed so many peoples videos. Especially yours and Ralfy’s
Fun, Fun, Fun, Fun!!!
Thank you Danny. How’s that cheeky teacher (aka me) poking fun at them 😂
