      at their best it would still be tough to figure out the positions. Bailey can't be the starter, he had a weak start but was one of the best anchor runners. On the curve you could have either Fredericks or Lewis. Burrel shoule have either been the starter or 2nd leg. Imo I would have Burrel, Bailey, Frankie and Lewis because I am quite sure Lewis would have bitched about not going last. lol

    I still remember my last competition 4x100 relay. I was the 2nd handoff going toe to toe against the fastest man on the west coast of USA. I pulled away from him. The hand off was good on my part but in front of me he was too slow. I had to brake hard, we took 3nd with the widest gap to 3rd in history. Time 42.2 afterwards I asked him why did he slow me down causing me to run up on Jim. He said he got scared. Never saw anybody run so fast. I should have been on the Munich team as this was 50 yrs ago. But I can still run fast. Ran 2 consecutive 300m in 36s back to back. Just a few years ago at the law enforcement track.

Explain to me why all those females track stars have died at the age of 38 years older or younger. But they blame poor Ben Johnson gets crucified cuz he cheated when everybody else in that race except for two other runners. Have cheated. . Tim Montgomery was caught cheating. Maurice Greene was caught giving Peds or paying for Peds for other track athletes in his camp. All cheaters . Wonder why all of a sudden there's no gold medal winners in awhile 🤔. Actually he was out of line....I only say that because you must not be familiar with what the East Germans (and Soviet Union) were doing during that time period. It was "state sponsored" cheating meaning almost all athletes of those countries were doping and team officials and the gov was aware and endorsed it. US got PLENTY of cheaters....no doubt, but to compare to East Germany where athletes are on record saying they were cut from team for NOT taking PED's? Not the same. That is how bad the Germans and Russians wanted to win back then....US did not sponsor cheating...they just send three times as many athletes as everyone else and then brag about the number of medals they won.

    • @nefertitiscott1934
      @nefertitiscott1934 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MB-fv9jh I know about the Russians and East German because I was around to see their dominance in track. Until recently many of the Sprint world records in the 70s and 80s were held by the East Germans until the rise of Evelyn Ashford and later Flo jo.. Check out the 400 meter world record. Until recently it seemed untouchable.. And it still stands. I believe the difference is we all knew they Doped and Do you have a thought to as why they haven't been stripped of any medals and why the records haven't been taken down? I mean since Marion Jones times have been erased or no longer in the books. Also what Mr Lewis said and later watching the Balco scandal and many US Athletes from baseball, Cycling and track and field go down for doping was just a sad thing to see. So that's why Carl Lewis wasn't out of line to call it out years before anyone did anything about it. Btw.
      do you believe the Jamaicans are somehow using enhancement drugs that has yet to be detected? Thank you.

    • @MB-fv9jh
      @MB-fv9jh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nefertitiscott1934 Now you are moving the goal post. The commentator was referring to his comment comparing US TRACK AND FIELD drug culture to the East German 60's and 70's athletes, where again, it was not only standard to dope but in some cases required. Many documentaries have been made about this. You are using revisionist history to give Carl credit for something he did not say. Of course looking back on it now, you can say there was many cases of doping throughout sports in America. However, the fact is the time period that Carl specifically spoke to was NO WHERE NEAR the organized and sanctioned cheating the Germans or even old Soviet Union were doing. That is just a fact. As for the Jamaicans, in particular the women, I think they are just flat out whuppin the american's ass and they are having a hard time dealing with it.

    Carl Lewis acknowledged that he failed three tests during the 1988 US Olympic trials, which under international rules at the time should have prevented him from competing in the Seoul games two months later.
    The admission is a further embarrassment for the United States Olympic Committee, which had initially denied claims that 114 positive tests between 1988 and 2000 were covered up. It will add weight to calls by leading anti-doping officials and top athletes for an independent inquiry into the US's record on drug issues.
    Dr Wade Exum alleged that a ban imposed on Lewis after positive tests for three stimulants had been overturned by the USOC when the athlete said he had ingested them mistakenly in a herbal supplement.
    Lewis received only a warning after officials ruled that his positive tests were due to "inadvertent" use. Some scientists believe the substances could have been a masking agent for more serious drugs, such as anabolic steroids

    these announcers are full of xlax if they think the US team wasn't as dirty as everyone else. Burrell, Greene and Lewis were on and off the drugs knowing when testing would be done. Explain their going from what looked to be 800 runner out of competition and NFL linebackers during the competitive season. I have it from at least 2 people directly involved in those late 90s early 2000s teams.
