    Just something to add: 11. roll up your trouser legs to show your ankles 12. unbutton upper buttons to make your neck longer 13. make the most of your wardrobe - wear your shirt like a jacket, your dress like a coat over other garments, your sleeveless top over your shirt, your dress under your jumper like a skirt etc. 14. dress down your formal, occation and evening clothing with less formal footwear 15. size up in your clothing and wear oversize 16. tie your belt instead of buckling etc.

    I love your fashion videos. I have to say that I'm 56 years young and a lot of your tips I've been doing for years. I've had a lot compliments from my coworkers over the years that I'm my own great stylist. I feel that your fashion advice goes for all women of no matter the age cause your style is simple but classic and I think that it's the key to great fashion sense. Keep your videos coming. Oh by the way, I absolutely looooove your Isabel Muran belt. 🙏❤

      Aw that's great to hear! Yes they're simple hacks but sometimes we need little reminders to use them! So glad to hear! Yes I love the belt too, such a good one! xx

      I'm 63 and same, have been doing many of these tips for ages. Fairly new one though was using hair bobbles to hold up sleeves, I remember using "bank clerk" type shirt sleeves bands (silver metal and expandable) as a feature to do the same job centuries ago. Bobbles are a great hack!!

      I totally agree that Lydia’s timeless style appeals to all age groups. I’m 47 and she’s my favourite influencer.

    I am older and grew up in France. All the women were already applying most of these style hacks in my youth! We were not taught these but just by looking at other women we would do it too and from a very young age. It would become automatic and we did not think about it as style hacks but the right way to wear things!!!!

    • @janicevin4207
      @janicevin4207 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@brifren2 and we used to pull up the collar of our shirts. This is still not a "style hack" as the way to wear it now is very flat around your face which I don't like.

    Brilliant, thank you Lydia! I’ve watched other ‘hacks’ videos before (usually claiming that they will change your life) but they never seem that relatable. Your hacks, on the other hand, are great. So doable and they really will help us to elevate our style and to channel our inner Lydia. You are definitely my new favourite influencer ❤️

    I absolutely love your style. You have opened my eyes on how to create a polished yet understated elegance when it comes to fashion. And your accent helps to drive home the look as well. Thank you for sharing!

  • @gjm1120

    I love these tips, thank you Lydia. I will use the bobble trick as love to ruck up my sleeves. Love tonal dressing and belts but have not really tried the ‘unexpected’ technique before. I’ve always experimented with clothes but this hack is making me look at my wardrobe afresh. I love the knit draped over shoulders look but my other half says he’ll disown me if I attempt it. I think he’s thinking golf club chic. I have to admit this look is difficult to pull off without looking too try-hard and I think you’ve nailed the effortless look, Lydia, by dressing tonally and wearing the knit as you would a scarf. I’m yet to style a jacket or coat over my shoulders as live in a semi-rural area and I would be ribbed for being unpractical/too try-hard fashionable. Plus I wear a jacket to keep me warm. We shall see; I am tempted to try it as it does look elegant.

    I’m a shirt and jeans type of lady.. I always do a half tuck. I don’t do belts though as I’m more top heavy with skinnier legs therefore I think too much on top half draws attention to my bad areas! I have a belly after 3 kids so loose flowy tops with slim jeans look best. x

    Hello Lydia. Really appreciate your videos and your style hacks are always so useful to help achieve a more stylish look.I had to look up what LBD stood for but that’s giving away my age !! You always look beautiful and so chic.Do you think any shade of red lipstick is flattering on thinner lips? I love the look but feel it’s difficult on an older person but wish I knew a trick to applying it successfully without looking ridiculous- I’d be grateful for any tips. Thank you x💗💄💋

    I think it is so funny to hear all the Influences telling all of us to roll up our sleeves. When I was growing up, my mum use to tell me NOT to roll up my sleeves or I would look like a washer woman. LOL!!! I love that I can roll my sleeves now. ;-)

    Im one of those people that doesn’t suit “The classic white shirt “ my worst colour is white and I don’t look good wearing a collar. I suit ivory white round neck or v neck blouses but haven’t found the perfect one yet.

    • @Chanelarponen
      @Chanelarponen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I relate. I don't like the white shirt on me, especially when it's figure-hugging. Loose-fitting and flowy fits my body shape a lot better. And finding the perfect shade is nearly impossible - but I'm not giving up!

      Check the Kibbe body types. Shirts don´t look good in all the body types. Not all the colors look good in everyone. It depends on your contrast and your body type. You can adapt this tips to yourself if you know very well how your body is and what looks good on you :)

    • @reneels5351
      @reneels5351 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      precious A yes my best tone is cream or ecru it really warms my complexion. I think the reason why I didn’t like any collar is because of my big bush of curly ginger hair. I actually like the mandarin collar or just vneck without collar. Im interested to learn more about my kibbe type too.

    I’ve tried hair ties to keep my rolled up sleeves in place. After 10 minutes my arms would start to tingle, switched to a big rubber band but that didn’t hold the sleeves up.

    • @pappyone6062
      @pappyone6062 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Frecie Magdirila you can roll up the sleeves about 4-5 inches then roll up the lower part a couple inches. They will stay in place. Busbeestyle has a style hacks video. Just go to her channel. She used to be a stylist and now does styling videos on you tube. If you can’t find it you can ask her on one of her videos or on Instagram. It totally works!
