    This brought back nice memories of going to this venue in the early 70’s to ride behind a steam engine. I’m glad to see that it’s still thriving after these many years.

    When I used to live on L.I., I visited the L.I. Live Steamers at some of their open houses. I loved their location under the trees. It looks like their setup hasn't changed much in 30+ years. In those days they had a beautiful N.Y. Central Hudson locomotive, but who knows what happened to it. They also had a fellow demonstrating stationary steam engines on a table.

    Awesome video! Just because something is meant for children, that doesn't mean teenagers, adults, and elderly people can't enjoy it as well! I'm 18 and I would LOVE to go to that place!

    Look at all the nice trains and workers helping the people board. Nice track schemes

    Nice video. Some years ago I had the opportunity of being an Engineer on a live steam 'Mini Railroad ' just like that one. I ran both Steam and 'Diesel', and the steamer was quite a runner.
    So Alco fan ;) Over here in my country there are also some road switchers just like that RS3. They no longer operate regular main line services, only MOW trains. All the survivving units were sold to track contractors. These umits are RSCs (with A1A trucks)0. In total, there are 4 RSC2's, with 'Honk' horns (I think these are Lesley or Wabco), and an RSC3 with a beautiful Nathan M5R24,, that needs an belong hand. Tjey look a little different from this LIRR unit because all were reengined with an Alco 251

    Tim other RS-3 involved in End of Steam was 1555. It last wound up at Gold Coast Railroad Museum in South Florida. They were working on the electrical system and had everything apart when Hurricane Andrew came through, and that was it for the restoration. As far as I've been able to figure out, it has subsequently been scrapped.

    My entire time living on LI I had no idea about the LI Live Steamers. Go Figure, lol. I had always wondered if all of 39 was in Strasburg or just the boiler and now I know. It stinks because it looks like they'll never reach the financial milestones to get her back under steam. Looking forward to seeing 35 come back together in Oyster Bay as a rolling display. Appreciate your videos. They are a ton of fun.

    Great video great place to go. I need to go there and visit it. LIRR GP38-2 that’s a great looking engine. The only thing was missing was a dummy F7 or FA or MP15AC on the back of the train with rear marker lights on.

    Another good video. It must be great fun driving these mini locomotives. Also nice to see the RS3 restoration as well. He was a friendly guy working on the RS3 They've certainly got a nice set up there.

    I live only a few miles from there. South Haven park is located in Brookhaven next to Shirley and Yaphank. I been going to that park since a kid.

    how come you couldn't film onboard.?

    • @trainman701
      @trainman701 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can answer that. The reason being is all your weight is on the train and it’s considered a distraction. Also applys for train crews as well. Say for example if you lean over to get a good picture. The entire train will tip on its side and derail.
