Witold Pilecki was a soldier in Poland during WWII and went into Auschwitz by own free will in order to gather information of what was happening inside the camp and also try to organize resistance. He actually was there for almost 3 years before escaping. He went back to Warsaw to report, but wasn't believed. He was then a part of Warsaw Uprising and then went to Italy(if I remember correctly). When Russia anected Poland, he went back to try to resist. He got cought by russian/polish authorities and was convicted for espionage/treason and sentenced to death. Todays free Poland regard him as a hero and in my opinion, he is definitely worthy that.

In the 90's when the USSR fell, Wiltold was exonerated of everything and awarded the Polish order of the white eagle in recognition of his massive sacrifice for his country.

one really haunting quote from Pilecki himself was his words on the torture he endured at the hands of the soviets, having said "Auschwitz was less cruel". i dont even want to imagine what happened in that room for it to warrant words like that.

Looking forward to this. But of course will have to miss the premier. Work, work, work... Do check out Sabaton's history channel for this song. The story of this man's life is ridiculous.

They sing about military history Wither it be American, Polish, Swedis and other countrys history.
This one is about Witolde Pilecki, he willingly let himself get captured and sent to Auschwitz (witch is in Poland😉). He formed small resisten groups i the camp and sent information about what was happening in the camps. Very intressting pice of history and horryfing.
A personal favorit song of theres is "The last battle" were German and Amercans fought togheter against German SS soldiers.

That lyric video wasn't a fan made. It's from Sabaton. They do go extra on their lyrics vids. If you look at the background, you can see the entrance of Auschwitz. You definitely gotta check out more of them. Absolutely love them

I’m a massive Sabaton fan, I love seeing people react to their songs.
I would suggest trying more of their songs, my personal favorite has to either be The Red Baron or Blood of Bannockburn.
For another emotional song, I would suggest The Final Solution, again by Sabaton.

Some would suggest that Sabaton plays power metal, but the vocals and the stories are not what you'd expect.
They are heavily influenced by 80's metal tho.
The reason this one sounds like an anthem is probably because it's off the "Heroes" album.
It's a bit darker than the other tracks on that album but still has that anthemic sound.

@@SimplyTwoDudes It's a German name of the camp located near the Polish city of Oświęcim. They created it when Poland was under German occupation and it was German concentration camp.

    • @GoodOlPain9

@@maciejderose The main camp is located inside of Oświęcim, Auschwitz II howerver, is located Just outside the village of Brzezinka, which directly borders Oświęcim. The main gate of Auschwitz II - Birkenau and the barbed wire fence going along the side of it is actually the border of the Brzezinka. Brzezinka is where "Brikenau" comes from.
