"I've been trying to live my life so that in the hour of my death I would rather feel joy, than fear." - Pilecki, before his death

Sabaton has a song "Final Solution" that is about Holocaust.
I highly recommend you see an acoustic live performance for it. And yes Sabaton has performed "Final Solution" both in Germany AND in Israel (for, I would assume, majority Jewish audience that sung along and seemed very appreciative that Sabaton did it.)
Final Solution is on the Coat of Arms, 2010 album with songs about ww2. It also has "Uprising" about THE Warsaw uprising that Pilecki was in. For that one see the 2012 live performance at Woodstock in Poland with over 500 000 people at the festival.
They have visited Auschwitz 2 times as a band + some of their crew (those 2 are the "official visits").
Twice, because they have had member changes along the way, and I believe Pär and Joakim chose not to go again, when the new members/ people who hadn't been went (because while it's important to visit once, it's also a very traumatic and heavy experience).

Wow! The fact that they had the stones to play it in Israel is amazing.! We will put it on the list although I will tell you that the older that I get the harder it is for me to watch these things. I have a largely German background although we’ve been Americanized for years. Man’s inhumanity to man always bothers me but I realize that we can’t lose sight of where we came from but also we can’t dwell on it we have to move forward in a peaceful manner. Thank you so much.

@@SueSueandthewolfman I also have German ancestors. My father was a marine and served in WW2. His Brother ( my Uncle Nick) was a tank driver in Patton’s armored division was in the Battle of the Bulge and actually found some of his dads relatives ( my grandfather) outside of Berlin in a small town sadly I don’t know the name. “ Lest We Forget” is what makes Sabaton so remarkable because they are not political but tell of the real sacrifices & courage of others. No one should be ashamed or embarrassed by their history. Judging or questioning your ancestors behavior in the past dose nothing but diminished what they sacrificed. General Patton said it best, “ I don’t want any of my men to die a hero for this country, I want the enemy to die as a hero for his country!” I know it’s tough but Sabaton’s music creates a memorial to the history of mankind’s sacrifices, heroics & love so we don’t ever forget! Love your Sabaton Wednesday! Rock On Stay Safe! Give the pups a treat from me!🙏👍🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

To honor the memory of the heroes. To forgive those who hurt us. Leave judgment in God's hands.
    Let's remember.

Wow, that is amazing. I love that and I love the fact that you mention forgiveness. I believe well I don’t expect everybody to, that God is the only one that can help us forgive. And you are correct we only need to look back to make sure when we look forward we don’t do the same thing

I think it’s good that you do the reaction like this, first the history and then the song. Even though it is very hard to watch, people shouldn’t close their eyes for this and be reminded all the time. The movie “The Auschwitz Report “ is a movie based on facts and has a similar story line about a few people who escape from Auschwitz in 1942 and then report what is going on in there and nobody is believing them. I believe the movie is on Netflix. Also the Polish government was working on a movie about Witold Pilecki but I can’t find the title, maybe it’s not finished yet. Stay safe and healthy. 🇳🇱🤘🫶🌹💐

Thanks Franck! I totally agree. We cannot blind ourselves to the past or we are doomed to repeat it which has been offten said sometimes overused. As soon‘s coming from German dissent on my father side I feel some of the same, however I don’t believe we should live in shame at all we need to move forward. Only by moving forward can we ensure that it doesn’t happen again. I stated in one of my posts to a regular viewer that we’ve had many atrocities since the Nazi death camps. The one that comes to mind mostly is the killing Fields. This was a much larger and devastating eradication of a people and it’s been within my lifetime. We need to push forward and remember. Thanks again

I completely understand as I have some German ancestry on my father side. Although we’ve been thoroughly Americanized for at least 100 years. However I will repeat that your past does not dictate the future. I firmly believe that and there is not anyone in history who is blameless for terrible atrocities. But we have to keep marching forward towards strength, unity and peace. Always love hearing from you take care

What a heavy topic! I love the song nevertheless, the music just fits it perfectly. And your reaction was so authentic, your disarray so clearly to see... I'm German, 42 years old. My Great Aunt and my Granny told many stories from that time, Auntie gave me many books, biographies more or less, on that topics. My history teacher made us watch original documentations from KZs... nevertheless, this story totally got me. The music, the text and Jocke's voice cut through my flesh and bones, what Indy told - nightmarish.
    Love from Germany, Jem

"The Final Solution" as other comments have already said, is Sabaton's main song about the Holocaust itself. Which I'd recommend also watching a live version of, as they play it (the very few times they have) differently from the studio style. The studio version has a heavy encroaching feeling to it, while the live is more sombre.
If you ever want a more positive episode for a change of pace though in between, try "The Ballad of Bull". It's a very different style when compared to the rest of Sabaton's catalogue, and a great story, which is still emotional, but it's a feel good emotional.

You want a recommedation about the holocaust? How about Final Solution (Endlösung). It is probably the saddest Song from Sabaton.
As an advice, plan enough time to talk and to do something upcheering after it. Otherwise your mood will be shity all daylong.
If you ever watched Schindlers Liste, you know this feeling.

This isn't about concentration camps, but if you're looking for stories about women at war, try out The Lady of the Dark.
Also, this song is amazing and the horror theme is appropriate for the subject matter. I mean, imagine being a hero like Pilecki and ending up in prison for it.

It is not exactly Sabaton stuff, but Indy with some friends have a youtube channel called "World War 2" where Indy does weekly episodes about the war in general, the fighting, special about individuals, events, technology etc, and parallel to that, they have a series called "War against humanity" hosted by Spartakus (he also hosted some Sabaton history episodes), he explains the life under occupations, the camps and all the most disturbing but no less important parts of the war, you may want to check those videos out, but be aware I like to think of myself as a tough man, studying at army university, but I need to steel myself before watching those, some episodes really hit hard

The guards and executioners in Auschwitz until mid-1941 were Jews called capos. Then Jews began to be taken to the camp at the end of the 1941s. Witold Pelecki's judge and executioner were communists with Jewish surnames who went to Israel in the late 1950s and were never punished. This is the dark side of Auschwitz that history is silent about and even TH-camrs are afraid to mention.
Hoolywood was in Poland about 20 years ago and they wanted to make a film about Witold, but on the condition that he would be presented as a Jew and not a Pole, the family did not agree.

for Poland war was ended in 1990. Til that times all heroes which dusturbed Russains goverement ware banish (many heroes who fought with West allies during II, for example 303 Squadron in Battle for brittan , ware executed after going back to Soviet's Polnad). In 1990 Poland get rid of Russains .. now they want to coma back attacking Ukraine. Many judges in Stalin times was Jews any way, dont blame the nation in every thare are "bad units" but maybe it explain end of the song. Judge who sent him to death had Jewish origin.
