Three tiny girls doing the job of six grown men! And crushing it! Long live The Warning!
As per the girls themselves, de audio was actually recorded in one take, on location, with camera (singular!) rolling. A few more takes were filmed for additional camera angles, but the sound is all from the first take.

Wanna be blown away? There is a live performance of The Pretender in their 2016 TedX and they crush it.

What I read about *The Pretender* was they played it live at this empty lot in Monterrey, MX. They played it live 4 times to get all the shots they needed. We heard the first take.
There is an earlier fan cam where The Warning played *The Pretender* where Ale sang the intro while Dany was concentrating on her picking. Then Dany took the lead for the remainder.
Since y'all mentioned the jazz pick, all three sisters did gear videos with Digital Tour Bus. Might be worth a look!

Hey Guys! From what I understand, they played the song 3 or 4 times live to get all the camera angles and took the best sound recording to use for the actual sound track. It was filmed on a vacant lot near their home in the hills near Monterrey, MX. And from what I have been told, there is now a house that was built on that lot. Also, as you can see, Pau does not have her laptop next to her, so it must be elsewhere off camera for their InEarz click track and possibly, like you were saying, maybe another guitar track. But, you can tell it is very raw, with minimal, if any post-production and still sounds AMAZING! Their skill at this age, still blows me away. I think this and their cover of "Resistance" by Muse are their best covers, IMHO. Rock On, guys!
Thanks guys...love this cover by the then young Teenage ladies, they knocked it out of the park IMHO. As far as how this video was shot here is the only information I have come across from one of their fans: They filmed this video on an empty lot near their home in the hills of Monterrey, MX. Another great reaction. Pre-teen and teenage girls do covers that sound better than many bar bands I've seen over the years. This was done in 2016, so they had been playing as an official band for three years at this point. Can you imagine what it was like for these young girls? It blows my mind that Ale was recording an album when she was in the fourth grade. Most fourth graders were in music class learning to play the Recorder and she was in the studio laying down bass tracks for their first album. Congrats to Pau for winning Drumeo 2023 Rock Drummer Of The Year, and congrats to the band on the release of their new single "Sick" which is currently blowing up on the internet and the music charts. Can't wait for the new album release.
Ale plays so many more parts than a traditional bassist. She’s insane, here, at 11.
For me, this cover has a cleaner, more pleasing sound then the different versions I have heard from the FF's. You guys rock!
Sometimes clean is what works best. I like this version as much as the Foo Fighters' version (but the FF video is awesome!).
They released S!CK as a single w/ music video Friday!
They did this in 4 takes. The first one for the audio, the other 3 were to pick up other footage.
You really need to do their gear masters videos from Digital Tour Bus. You guys love gear, you know gear, we want to hear you thoughts on what the ladies are using. Not only is it cool seeing them talk about their stuff, but their personalities really come through in the videos too.

I think the way they routinely produce a live session performance is to play the song through a few times to get different video angles and close ups (sometimes with just 1 camera) and then select the best audio performance to mate it to. Great reaction and review as usual! 👍😎

This is the first time I've seen Pau with a standard mic.
There dad ran a recording studio and made one for them in the basement of their house that they called the cave. All their first recordings were done there. This is the first one not in the cave. They released their new single yesterday, it already has over 200,000 views and has had over 100 reviews and reactions in 24 hours. It has made numerous playlists on every streaming service and most fans think they released the weaker of the 2 new the songs first.
Not the first out of the basement. They did numerous gigs at local Monterrey venues including their school.
I think he was referring to recording not performing.

This is soooo gooood! I can't even listen to The Foo's version of this anymore. 🤣For suggestions... They have a great cover of the Cru's Kick Start My Heart a couple years after this, and then Metallica's Atlas Rise is a banger! Atlas Rise has 2 versions, one from the cave, and one at a private show at The Whiskey a Go Go. Both Rock, but I will always choose a live audience played for, over a camera.
I'm sure you have this planned, but I am interested in what you think of their new song S!CK! This cover is always a fun listen to see how good they were and how far they have come, especially with the release of this latest single. Give me Violence, Kill the Silence, till it makes me feel ... S!CK!!!!

with the drop yesterday of DPA/TW's new song, *S!ck* , and many of us being very very busy watching the tons of reactions to it (aka driving the algorithm), i want you two gentlemen to know that i'm taking 20 minutes out of that to watch your reaction to the *The Pretender* cover the girls did... i absolutely love it and i believe i've recommended it in my comments a few times... plus you guys have a great presentation that is very enjoyable to consume 😜 so Let's GOOOOOOO! 😹

They shot the full track and audio was from the first take. Then they played it through a bunch of more times for the extra footage. All the wide shots are from the main take with the audio. All the closeups are from other takes and edited in.
The Gibson SG is an anomaly. Probably a rental. Hasn’t appeared in any other performance. Ale went from using a ¾ short scale Fender Mustang to full size Spector bases. A fan gifted her three Spectors - two four strings and one five string. As for Dany’s Les Paul, she did say it hurt her shoulder. She replaced it with two Rick Toone Spearfish. One is mahogany and the other is the Moby Dick version. The have aluminum detachable necks with fanned frets. Watch the girls gear rundowns on the Digital Tour Bus.
He gave her the blonde 5 string as well? I never could find its story.
@@RussInCanada Yes - the one used in the More video. He supposedly leant it to her until her custom five string could arrive from Spector. But he never asked for it back or she just didn't give it back - don't know exactly.

Answers a lot of your questions and it's fun geeky music stuff. They were recorded last year when they were touring after releasing their single MORE.

To remove background like the wind I would just set a separate mic a little off the side and record it. Then invert the signal and merge them. That way the extraneous sound is cancelled out. Had to do something similar to take out the 60Hz hum of florescent lights when testing an EKG setup way back when I was in college.
Multiple takes is how they did it. First run for the sound and then some more to get the angles and such. They were pretty much doing this to learn what it took to make a music video. There is a house in that location now.

Yes Dany uses jazz picks and she mentioned that during her gear rundown in the digital bus tour video. I’m glad she’s your favorite guitar player because she’s mine too. This is coming from a metahead who grew up watching thrash metal and solos but Dany’s guitar playing is full of passion. She can shred when she wants to and also emote when she wants to. In this particular video, she’s doing 3 people’s work which many fans probably don’t understand how hard it is to do. Foo fighters have like 5 or 6 members in the band. Amazing front woman
The audio was recorded in their cave, then they set up the equipment in a neighbor's back yard and played/recorded them 3 times and picked the best one for the video.
Neat reaction video. Loved it when you guys got your gear goggles on. It's great that you guys can bring your insights as musicians to this reaction and I appreciate that. I do agree with you about Pau and Ale still having inmature voices though, but that - IMHO - was part of the charm of this cover.

Ale uses a Mesa Boogie head and Ampeg SVT cab behind her on stage, and Dany has a Mesa cab and usually an Orange Pedal Baby at her back, but both are officially endorsed by Orange. They both used Orange at the MTV VMA'S.

They 100% recorded this live. You can hear in the beginning, for example, Dany mishits a note. The audio is a single take, live outside! The video is one camera spicing together multiple takes. (There are no overdubbed parts I'm pretty sure, just Dany using her pedal board to get a variety sounds.) The musicianship and arrangement skills at such a young age are just off the charts, so tight!
In their own words, they recorded it live 3 times in order to get the shots. Then they chose the best audio of the three to dub.

Foos studio recording when this came out only had two guitars.
They take covers and make it theirs. One notable performance is Dany covering Foo fighters Walk. A fan adds a violin in a duet performance.

Yeaaaa I’ll shed some light on it, it was a kickass performance from a kickass band at any age, the only downside was from the banter and dissecting of the video, I don’t know why reactors continue to do this with the Warning. I mean I gave in to that, even at this age the girls kicked my bands ass of a bunch of 30ish musician. What kind of tone did you have at 11, I had a Sears 59$ guitar, good god Ale’s 4’10” and 80lbs and your talking bout her playing a Jazz bass, and even if their is a guitar backing track, WHO THE HELL CARES, com’on guys ANYONE CAN SEE THAT 99% of the sound is coming from the band. I love your guys channel, but let’s get back to the more in-spiteful commentary.
