- Wild night of sleep on top of little Hump Mountain all alone. Windy and a little rain but beautiful stars whenever I opened my eyes. Cowboy camped just my sleeping bag on the soft grass, that’s as real as it gets! Up in a cloud though, no sunrise. Quickest I’ve ever gotten ready and packed up for how cold it was probably low 40’s with wind chill. Took off at 6:00 hoping for a sunrise at Hump Mountain. Clouds started to clear but was still foggy and epic up there. As I dropped into the valley the clouds parted to the east and it was magical. Heard about the best breakfast on the AT at mountain harbor and dropped down to eat at 9am and they said I had to be a guest and breakfast was at 8! 😩 still bought some snacks from the store, orange cream popsicle, root beer, Gatorade, watchamacalit, 100 grand. Got some trail
Magic too, apples, marshmallows, granola, peanut butter, chips ahh, Oreos, slim Jim’s. Lo mein and Squeaky showed up around 10 and found out the bad news, no breakfast. We chilled for a while, sun dried gear, charged up. They both gave in and decided to stay the night haha. Lo mein was so stoked. He loves his zero days. I thought squeaky would push on with me but he is waiting for a friend. I stayed for almost 4 hours! Then took off all charged up. Tried to convince myself about 5 times to turn around but wouldn’t. Saw some epic waterfalls and crossed so many streams and walked along a river for a while. Mostly hidden in the trees today. Met grouse, my most similar through hiker yet, from Vermont. Stay d the night in a shelter 27 miles down the trail. Slept like a rock
