What sucks is they had for that shot him played by a man named Wayne Pygram, aka Scorpius on Farscape. AKA, they wasted a perfectly excellent actor who could have played Tarkin wonderfully...on a distance shot.
They do have some conversations in the excellent Tarkin novel, by James Luceno. They liked and respected each other, Dooki wanted to convince Tarkin and his home world of Eriadu to join the Separatists. But Tarkin was too loyal to Palpatine
