I have been in the country too by my job like 10 years ago. And yes, I had the same experience. Lovely people. I think, needing to deal with less people is lowering the chances of anger growing up inside you. I love to be left in peace.
@@Marc_Fuchs_1985 I think that is a big part of it indeed. Though it's also cultural partly as people in Norway or Sweden, tend to be on their selves a lot and are a bit less kind so to say if you disturb the peace. haha But yes, I probably will move house soon from the Netherlands as I'm getting quite agitated over here.

I went to Latvia this year too. I spent two days hiking the section of trail you rode between Cesis and Sigulda and then spent the rest of my week exploring other parts of the country. Latvia doesn't often feature on holiday-goers lists, but I had one of the most enjoyable weeks of my life in this incredibly beautiful, historically fascinating, and culturally brilliant country! I can't recommend Latvia enough!
Fair play to you for trying to communicate in Russian. That's hard to do! I think I would've just relied on Google Translate, to be honest... The area you're in is beautiful. It really makes me feel grateful for the planet :)
this is the best sequel I could've hoped for. Not only do you unicycle like a beast, but you understand what your audience wants to see. You're videos are always awesome, keep up the good work!
What a surprise. Followed you for three years while you worked your way around the world. Was especially excited when you discovered wobbling Wally. Came along on your bicycle and kayak adventures. You have been working hard keeping your channel active. Perhaps your viewers would value you sharing bits of your transitional thoughts and experiences up till now. Not suggesting an emotional purge. Maybe reflections that came after spending 3 years unicycling the world and then standing 'still' for some period. The period after an adventure can sometimes be harder than the adventure.
The 'matches' woman must have had such a surprise. Watching all of your earlier world trip, it's clear that you have a wonderful ability to connect with people wherever you are.
Every time it cuts to another angle of you riding along, I always think of the reality of you having to set up the camera, ride past and then go back for it. Must of been so much more time/work/effort 😅
In 2006, I took a 6-day, 185 mi (459 km) unicycle ride on the C&O Canal towpath. Shorter and much easier terrain than what you're doing, but your trip is taking me back to camping on the side of the trail, meeting interesting people, admiring nature, and having to find solutions to problems you weren't expecting.
Hell YES!!!! I followed almost your whole journey around the world. It had my so excited for you. I remember telling all my friends and family about it every time you uploaded. It was so impressive. I’m glad you set up another challenge I can’t wait to watch it all go down Ed!! You’re a champion! I had a couple unicycles when I was younger, they’re extremely exhausting. I’m glad you found a friendly local to get some matches for your first night. I’m wishing you the best luck on your journey.
What a fabulous adventure, made even more interesting for me as my late dad was Latvian and I have visited twice. It's such a beautiful country with so much unspoilt wilderness. Can't wait to follow your travels, thanks for sharing this.
No way, I used to live around your finishing location in the small bordering town of Skuodas! Such a cool idea and I can't wait to see you experience the beauty of Latvia on such a unique mode of transportation. ❤❤
Ed does it again. Letting us take part in a dream we can't follow ourselfes for one reason or another. I am very jealous. I love riding through nature too. Ed can only produce so much content. Who wants to see more good content of exploring nature, I can recommend the channel of Foresty Forest. A Canadian dude, and we know, Canada is beyond lovely too. Some of the stuff he shows, it's beyond jaw dropping and seriously gives you the wanderlust.
Thanks for the inspiration! I've always loved Latvia and visited a couple times as a backpacker and by motorbike, but never knew about this hiking trail. Looks like I have another reason to go to Latvia again! :)
An awesome first day Ed, the kindness of others is something I love on these kind of adventures. I’ve never heard of the Baltic Forest Trail before but it looks beautiful. I will add it to my hiking list 😊
Fantastic to see you back on the unicycle, even more so since I met you at the Sherborne castle car show the year before last…. A true hero and great presenter….is there a charity this time for us to donate to?
❤ Hi Ed, I'd forgotten how much joy your round the world videos brought me. As a pre-sleep treat this really put some good thoughts into my weary brain. Thank you so much! ❤
Ahahaaaa love it , after that blowup kayak event you got me motivated too start kayaking again , that from source too sea idea really resonates so im gonna start off with ones closest too me and work my way around all the rivers of the UK
Just amazing. Showing this to my kids first thing in the morning - what kinds of interesting stuff people do and that even a bit outlandish ideas are entirely doable.
Only just started watching but gotta say good on you Ed getting sponsored by Latvia Travel. Been to Estonia a few times and always wanted to tour it on my bike and Latvia looks incredible as well!
I'm still impressed by your interaction while looking for a lighter! Impressive how you managed to communicate with her enough to win the trust to show that you were not a mad man (even though this whole mission is a bit of madness...) 🤣🤣
Latvia is wonderful, I spent two weeks travelling though Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia a few years ago. People were very welcoming and friendly, and put up with our terrible language skills!
Okay, here is a quick idea for you personally, Ed: One day, you could take the content of all your adventures and make a movie out of it. New narration, new cut. You have seen and experienced so incredibly much, it is well worth to be presented in a movie-like documentary. Alternatively or additionally, if I was you, I'd set up plans for a new world trip. Going a completely different route through different countries. With the video skills you have by now, this would be an insane thing to watch. In fact so good, that it should be sold for good money on Bluray, and offered on streaming services.
Awesome stuff Ed! I am planning a 160km unicycle ride next Easter on the south downs way on similar terrain to this (although not quite this bad) , glad to see it's somewhat possible😂
Your Russian can't be that bad. It worked! I'm so impressed that Latvia Travel have sponsored an adventure such as you. You're doing their promoting for them!
Seeing you on your unicycle again is super cool to see. I would love for you to team up with Russ Cook and ride your unicycle along his side through Africa.
One of the things I love most about your series are the interactions with locals. It shows just how much kindness really is in the world.

I think it's awesome for it not to be on the radar of many, still places you can truly hike around while not bumping into a lot of others.
arent there dangerous bears or wolves??
@@GodAtum not really
@@GodAtum Wolves super unlikely, in the Eastern part of the country a small chance to stumble upon a bear - in the Western part close to none.
Latvia picked the best ambassador to show their country :)
thanks Ed, nice to have you back suffering again for our entertainment, great stuff

It's so much fun to watch you go on these adventures. You have an optimistic and open way of approaching the world.

Ed pratt, you are the man lol. I'm knackered just watching this video. I'll be following the series as you progress.

When the worlds needed him the most, he returned 🙏🏼
Glad to see you back at the wheel, Ed !
That's still a loooooooong way to go! Hike-a-biking is brutally slow-going.
You're not wrong. Good thing I was in no rush
Looking forward to seeing the whole journey.
Love it Ed

Latvia is wonderful, I spent two weeks travelling though Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia a few years ago. People were very welcoming and friendly, and put up with our terrible language skills!

Good to see you again Ed!
Wooow! So cool. Greetings from Latvia!
Good to see you’re back! Your new rig seems as if it could use a backpack harness is that terrain. 😊
Straight in with the ты form and not the вы form, bold as brass you Ed!

Hallucinogenic and very poisonous. ( but I assume you know that)
"this is a mountain unicycle" me: a mountain unicycle ? wtf haha !?
Already very excited for this!

A new adventure I can get behind, lets go!
I was just looking at the Baltic States on a map a couple of days ago and wondering about travel through there. So far it looks amazing!
Thanks for a great idea. I definitely wanna try something similar to yours sometime soon. Love the vibe filled in the video.
